There are a couple of nice restaurants just outside the building. One is is called 'le mani in pasta'. Another one is is called 'Da TEO' (family cuisine) in Piazza dei Ponziani (first left leaving the building). There are a lot of good pizzerias too. 'Ai Marmi', (as you get to Viale Trastevere from via dei Genovesi, go left for 50 meters). Any other pizzeria in the area is good too.

If you go near Piazza Trilussa and Vicolo del cinque you will find a lot of bars and night action. A lot of night actions is also found in the evening in Campo de Fiori, which is just 10 minutes away from the apartment.

A small grocery store is right across the road, a friendly neighborhood bar/cafe is downstairs, so you have everything you could possibly need within the neighborhood.

About Trastevere:: Trastevere is a very romantic area right in the centre of Rome, 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from all the major tourist attractions.

Most Romans gather on weekends in the pizzerias and stroll with a gelato through the cobblestone streets or along the river for a hand grated granita

Long known by Romans for its restaurants and bars, Trastevere is a pleasant area to stroll in Rome, particularly peaceful in the morning and lively in the evening as dozens of trattorias set tables out along the cobblestoned streets.

The immediate area has some of the best Trastevere restaurants and trattorias as well as one of Rome's most famous bakeries all within a few blocks.

The neighborhood of Trastevere is known for its lively nature, and the array of people it attracts, it's a favorite of foreigners due to its authenticity and the two international universities in the area.

Trastevere is also the location for a weekend pizza for most Romans who gather on the weekends in the pizzerias and stroll with a gelato through the cobblestone streets or along the river for a hand grated granita.

Trastevere is east of the historical center on the other side of the River Tiber. It’s one of Rome’s oldest area and certainly one of the most characteristic. Here you’ll find many restaurants and bars located on the cobbled-stone narrow streets of Trastevere. Once home to the Syrian community and then to the Jewish community, Trastevere has slowly and steadily grown into the second biggest Rione (area) in Rome.

Rich families such as the Farnese settled in amongst populace bringing wealth and giving the area a certain status that had been coveted throughout history. At the heart of Trastevere is Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere which is one of the most beautiful piazza’s in Rome.

Visit the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere and admire the faded palazzi while you relax in one of the bars lining the square. Trastevere is also only 5 to 10 minutes walk to all the famous Piazzas and monuments.

View from the patio is wonderful

  • 4 of 5

The patio was amazing. My husband and I could spend hours sipping wine, watching the light change over the tops of the ancient buildings all around us. There were birds everywhere, and a birds-eye view over Trastevere to boot.

The apartment was well equipped and in truly excellent location.

Two small downsides for us - the bed was very firm, and the bathroom was in need of modernization.

Wonderful Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place; especially the sun lit bedroom that opens onto an amazing terrace in the best part of Trastevere. We got lost in the cobble stone streets and found great restaurants and espresso bars where locals dine. We walked every where and came home each night to this lovely space filled with Luca's art. Luca is a great host; he helped us find another property when we had friends join us for the weekend. I highly recommend this romantic apartment.

A LITTLE GEM IN TRASTEVERE

  • 5 of 5

Two years ago we felt very lucky having found this lovely "artistic loft" at a very attractive spot in colorful Trastevere - and enjoyed so much staying there, that we decided to book it again at our next trip to Rome - which we made this September - and we certainly didn't regret it! Our first experience was fully confirmed!

The apartment is located in a very charming and quiet part of Trastevere. From the terrace you have a magnificent view over the city. Inside, the apartment is characterized by its very own decor and charm. (We love Luca's evocative photo art with themes from Cuba).

This time we spent a lot of time outside Trastevere. But still the location was perfect. Many of the most interesting places and neighborhoods in Rome is actually located within walking distance from this corner of Trastevere - alternatively there is a very short distance to tram, bus or train.

Returning to the apartment in the evening, with all our senses filled with impressions from today's adventures in Rome, we know no better way to finish the day than enjoying a glass of wine (or two!) on the romantic terrace, while looking over the roofs of nearby houses and churches and the hills in the distance.

It is a pleasure to deal with Luca, the owner. Both times we have been very satisfied with everything about booking, agreements, facilities and cleaning. Also we have appreciated Rosie's welcome and introduction.

When visiting Rome next time, this place will surely again be our favourite.

Excellent appartment in an excellent area of Rome

  • 5 of 5

This appartment has become our preferred location in Rome. We stayed there for the second time. And we do not regret it. Although very centrally located it is extremely quiet. Most of the city can be reached within walking distance. The terrace is a definitive plus. Very close to the Tiberian Island with access to great restaurants in the jewish quarter. The owner is very helpful with tips surrounding the logistics of the stay. And although normally I am hesitant to devulge secrets, being afraid of future frenzies: It is right next door to one of the best restaurants in Rome. Le mani in pasta. (Cacio e pepe). So much for my next reservation.
