First St. Beach access is a 2 minute walk from the front porch. Teak hardwood floors, fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, Wi fi, DVD library, board games, water softener, front loading washer & dryer, large leather sectional sofa, toddler bed & port a crib. Outdoor fun includes nearby beach (wagon, chairs, toys provided), swingset, basketball hoop on concrete driveway, shaded hammock, Outdoor heated shower to rinse off sand after a day at the beach, Weber gas grill. Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (US Dollar) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • Spring/fall/winter rates available. Off season daily rates $300 per night with a 2 night minimum. Summer weekly rate $2600. 50% deposit is at time of reservation. Remaining 50% and $250 damages deposit is due 60 days prior to arrival date. The security deposit is returned within 10 days of departure. Security deposit refund after checkout is contingent upon guest leaving property clean, orderly & damage free.

    Should reservation cancellation be necessary, we charge a $75 flat fee. If the property can be rebooked for that week, all funds will be returned, less the $75 flat fee. If the property cannot be rebooked, all funds paid will be forfeited less the security deposit. We will provide rental agreement at time of reservation. Check-in time is 3:00 pm EST Friday and check-out is 10:00 am EST the following Friday. Weekend rentals available Sept-May. No smoking, no pets please.
  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) , E Checks accepted securely through HomeAway Listing site.

Mother/Daughter Weekend

We just had our second annual Mother/Daughter weekend at the Henkel Cottage!
We were so pleased with the accommodations on our first visit we knew we would be back again! We were able to use the Fall Special with the 3rd night free and it was such a nice bonus. Even though we all could not be there Thursday night we had the cottage available all day Friday for whenever everyone could get there.
The home is very well maintained inside and out. It is tastefully decorated you can't help but feel at home. The kitchen has everything you need to do as much (or as little) cooking you want. All you need are the groceries!
The home is conveniently located just off the highway and so close to town and the beach, with Saugatuck and Wineries not too far away.
Tom and Laurel are a pleasure to work with they have definitely thought of everything to make The Henkel Cottage a great place to stay!

Third Visit!

This was the third year in a row that we've stayed at the Henkel Cottage. We love this house! It is exceptionally clean, well cared for and very comfortable. The Henkels have thought of everything to make their cottage feel like your home-away-from-home. The kitchen is well-stocked, the rooms are freshly decorated and the outdoor space is set up for use by several families. The beach is just a short stroll down the road, made easy by the wagon provided to carry your beach gear. We love the small town feel of South Haven, and especially enjoy eating at Maria's in town, walking along North Shore Drive and along the pier by the river. The owners have been wonderful to work with and when staying in their house, there is a feeling that they truly care about your comfort and enjoyment!

Fantastic Vacation!

My friends and I are all teachers, and we stayed at Henkel Cottage this past week for our annual girls trip. The house is AMAZING and far exceeded our expectations. We all commented that we could have lived there all summer! It is so comfortable, beautiful and felt very high-end. The value of this home is unbelievable. The outdoor area was perfect for cookouts, and we love the new fire pit! The beach is steps away from the house, and we took full advantage of it...including the beautiful sunsets. The bedrooms and bathrooms were wonderful, the living room was incredibly comfortable, the kitchen is BEAUTIFUL and stocked with anything and everything you could ever need. We also loved the great DVD collection as well as the games available! Thank you so much, Tom and Laurel, for this beautiful home. We cannot wait to rent from you again next summer.

The perfect spring getaway

Henkel Cottage was the perfect place for our two-family spring getaway. We were five adults, one tween, three kids, and a baby, and everyone loved it. The house is beautiful, thoughtfully and extensively stocked--we overpacked because we hadn't expected so much to be there in the house. The yard is lovely; the kids enjoyed the swingset and running around, and we all had a good time around the firepit and having a grilled lunch on the patio. The beach is within easy walking distance, even with small children, and South Haven's downtown is charming. (My only regret there is no real grocery store other than Wal-Mart. Bring groceries! Or just go to Maria's, and definitely try the gelato.) The owners were marvelously helpful and communicative; I never had a worry about the business details and knew exactly what was expected on both sides. Go to Henkel Cottage if you can! Just not on the weekend I want to go back. :)

We are all looking forward to the new Meijer grocery store that has been recently announced. We also enjoy the top notch service at the Village Market. Thanks for your input!
