Boston Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

'Strike me God if I could find a better place! ' To quote one guest comment. This historic building (Nathaniel Hawthorne lived next door in 1836) boasts old Beacon Hill charm, exemplified in this apartment. The space is so well apportioned, you'll feel completely at home. In this small space, you'll find a breakfast room, office, living room, dining room and bedroom/bath. With the original marble fireplace with grand mirror above, the floor to ceiling windows, crown molding and ceiling medallion, this apartment is elegant. The lighting is designed to create whatever atmosphere you desire with dimmers on most lights, adjustable reading lamps over the bed, chandelier in the bedroom nook and under-counter and over-cabinet lights in the kitchen. The decorating is classic and comfortable.

There are many incredible restaurants within minutes by foot. Whole Foods is 2 blocks away - you can cook or pick up excellent healthy prepared foods if you just want to stay home and watch a movie.

Architectural designer/Owner has painstakingly considered every detail to make staying here a memorable and unique experience. Recently renovated. Every surface has been scrubbed, painted and/or built in last 18 months. This lovely 2nd Fl studio was the formal parlor for 1800s Brownstone. All new appliances including Miele dishwasher. Fully equipped kitchen. Quality linens and towels. Romantic curtained-off bedroom nook. Fresh, cozy and comfortable.

Directly behind the State House, within blocks of the Freedom and Black Heritage Trails. Skirt the State house and you're at the Boston Commons. Walk through the Commons and the Boston Gardens and you're strolling down Boston's own Champs Elysees, Newbury Street. 10 minute walk to the historic North End, the Aquarium and more shopping and dining at Faneuil Hall. Truly in the center of everything. Red, blue and green 'T' subway stops are all within a 5-10 minute walk.

Free WiFi and use of a laptop computer, a Hi-Fi radio with an iPod / MP3 player attachment, queen size pull out couch with memory foam mattress, 40 inch adjustable flat screen TV and DVD player with DVD collection, custom built-in cabinets for clothing storage, large closet including shelving to store coats, belongings, suitcases, clothes, bathroom with tub/shower and cabinets for toiletries.

About The Owner

We are an architectural designer and social services counselor who live and work on Nantucket Island. In our spare time, we like to create 'homes away from home' and share them with friends and renting guests. We actually take a lot of pleasure anticipating one's every need in order to make each environment exceedingly comfortable and tasteful. Our children find it annoying to go to restaurants or hotels with us because we constantly deconstruct the design and reconstruct an ambiance that we would enjoy being in. An intimate, calm and comfortable ambiance is the key component to our success. We have no doubt you will feel that way in the spaces we have created on Beacon Hill. We have another apartment on Charles St. as well.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2009

What makes this apartment unique

Nathaniel Hawthorne lived next door in 1836. Located directly behind the State House, within blocks of the Freedom and Black Heritage Trails. Skirt the State house and you're at the Boston Commons. Walk through the Commons and the Boston Gardens and you're strolling down Boston's own Champs Elysees, Newbury Street and Back Bay. 10 minute walk to the historic North End, the Aquarium and more shopping and dining at Faneuil Hall. Whole Foods 2 blocks away. Charles street, a 5 minute walk, is loaded with great restaurants and shops. Cambridge Street, 2 minutes away, also has lots of restaurants with all kinds of ethnic flavors. The North End, 10 minutes away, is famous for it's Italian eateries and bakeries. Truly in the center of everything.

Several parking garages nearby. Red, blue and green 'T' subway stops are all within a 5-10 minute walk.

Be at the heart of historic Boston where those feisty first Americans grumbled about taxes to the crown and then plotted the American Revolution.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As former New Englanders, we can attest to how great this place is. Your apartment is in the best location in the city. We walked almost everywhere: USS Constitution, North End, Aquarium, Newbury St, Faneuil Hall & Commons, Gardens. Had to use the subway 2 days ( ?? and Museum of Fine arts).

Very comfortable and cozy place. We wanted to move in permanently!

Perfect spot!

  • 5 of 5
Just returned from a fabulous 4 day stay in Boston and this perfect apartment! As a frequent user of VRBO, I am always aware of the "little things" that make a big difference. This apartment is very clean and well appointed. The pillows and linens are top notch, and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you may need. We even enjoyed the common outdoor space of the building. This space is small, but never felt cramped. The location can't be beat. We picked up the trolley tour in front of the capitol building, which is a very short walk. We were able to walk every place we wanted to go: the esplanade, Quincy market, Faneuil Hall, the North End (get a cannoli from Mike's Pastry), Boston Common, the Public Garden, even Fenway Park. The subway lines are also very conveniently located.
You won't be disappointed in this apartment. It is beautifully done and will be our first choice on any future Boston trips!

Wonderful Location!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed here for four nights while visiting Boston. The location was perfect! We flew into Logan and took a cab to the apartment. Heading out we took the T subway line, must easier, quicker, and vastly cheaper!

The State House is only a few doorways away and down the hill from the apartment are restaurants, stores, Starbucks, a Whole Foods, the Boston T subway lines, etc. On the other side of the State House is Boston Commons, more restaurants, downtown, more T subway lines, etc. We walked or took the T everywhere so DO NOT bother with a car (not easy to park on Beacon Hill anyway).

The accommodations were perfect. A comfortable bed, nice living/eating/kitchen area and fully stocked with everything you would need. A beautiful space and I wish we had a copy of the the massive marble fireplace in our own home! Count the birds in the apartment - it became a game of hide and seek - we counted ten bird figures hidden in the corners, on shelves, etc.

I wonderful spot and we look forward to staying here again on future visits!

My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days at this charming retreat. We loved the unit, it was stocked well, very clean and full of character and in the heart of everything. So simple to get around, easy to hop on the subway, easy to walk to the downtown sights, and lots of food and drink options. Just wonderful, we would book again in a heartbeat!

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5
This was my first trip to Boston. My best friend and I could hardly wait to arrive. We were so thrilled to have come upon Robin's place at the Homeaway site. It is just as beautiful in person, moreso. This apartment truly is like home away from home. So much personality, very clean and supremely comfortable. The bed and pillows are simply FANTASTIC, the sofa bed as well. The towels were THE BEST. The decor of the apartment is so welcoming. I loved this place. I actually felt as though I stepped back into another time for a bit. You can not have a better location than this lovely retreat. Most everything is within 10-15 minutes walking distance. We walked all over Boston. The neighborhood is nice, quiet, and safe. The building itself is very quiet. The people are so friendly. There isn't a lack for things to do, delicious food, fun shopping, entertainment, just taking in all the history and beauty of Boston was such a highlight for me. The best part of my first Boston experience was being able to come back to our cozy retreat after a full day of exploring, and relax with all the comforts of home, with my best friend. This place truly is great. The air conditioner works fantastic. The weather was toasty while we were there, but the AC was wonderful. Plenty of hot water for showers, fully stocked kitchen, lots of dvd options for a rainy day. Robin took the time to make sure all bases are covered. That is greatly appreciated. The apartment is small, but it is PERFECT for two. I think three would work, but absolutely perfect for two. We never felt crowded or cramped. Thank you Robin. We appreciate your efforts in making this a great place and in so doing, helping to create a wonderful experience for many. We had a blast and hope to be back again!

We came back again for the marathon, after experiencing the horror of the 2013 marathon. Is it possible that your apartment could be better the second time around? Absolutely! It was just like coming home. It was a fantastic weekend all around - from the accommodation, to the energy of the city, to Alastair crossing the finish line. Couldn't have planned a better time, and certainly couldn't have planned a better place to stay. Thanks for letting us come back, Robin!

Great Place to Stay!!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I recently stayed here during our first trip to Boston and this apartment exceeded our expectations. It is in a great location in Beacon Hill, within walking distance of restaurants, shops, the subway, and much more. The apartment itself is cozy and has all the amenities you'll need. We were blown away by the great care Robin takes of this place. Because of the age of the building, the decor, and the charm of Beacon Hill you'll feel like you've gone back in time when you stay here. My wife even said, "I feel like I can hear a horse and carriage going by." I could literally spend all day just walking the streets of Beacon Hill and visiting the local shops. Our trip to Boston was outstanding and this apartment was key to the whole vacation. We rented here because we wanted to feel like locals and get the true Boston experience and we definitely got that.

A few places you need to eat when you come:
1) Mike's Pastry - almost a mile walk to the North End and totally worth it
2) Upper Crust pizza - if you like thin crust you'll love this place. We had it delivered twice during our stay
3) The Paramount - Just a short walk from the apartment. Their breakfast is AMAZING
4) Most Italian places in the North End - authentic Italian, worth the short walk
