Studio, 1 Bath (Sleeps 3)

A classy hideaway in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, four blocks up from the beach(five walking blocks). This artist designed studio apartment is small but beautiful. The apartment has exclusive use of the front porch of a lovely craftsman style house on a charmingly landscaped, fully enclosed private property in the center of the entertainment district . The elegantly designed corner couch is unusual. A drawer pulls out to convert it to a fabulously comfortable queen size bed. There is HDTV, WIFI, washer/dryer and gated private off street parking. BBQ on your porch, eat fresh fruit from the fruit trees and use the free bicycles for car free, stress free enjoyment. The owner grew up in the house (and also happens to be the artist). Relax and fell pampered in this thoughtfully re-designed and well loved home.
About Inga Frick

The important person in this story is my mother, Shirley, who moved out of her home to make the vacation rental income possible. Isn't she beautiful!

My family were renters on this property for 40+ years before being able to purchase it in 1993. My grandparents ran a washing machine repair business here for many years.

Wonderful studio

My husband and I traveled to Santa Barbara for our anniversary. We stayed there for a week and loved this lovely studio. It was so convenient to park the car and walk down to the main strip for dinner or a day in the sun. We rode the bikes, although they are rusty and could use a tune-up (if you are reserving this place for the use of the bikes, you might be disappointed). The sofa bed is comfortable and the in-unit washer and dryer is a big plus! We came home with clean clothes and simply needed to put them away in our drawers. At first we didn't think there was heat in the bathroom but then realized that the face plates were switched (the one with the labels for the switches revealing there was heat was on another outlet). Location is wonderful although there are slightly thin wall so don't get rowdy. ;) Another renter was for a night but I guess they had reason...it was New Year's after all. :) We will definitely return!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much! We are constantly working to improve the property and will get those face plates switched around. We are also planning on building a shelter for the bikes so that they don't rust. Future guests can be confident that these issues will be addressed!

Location and charm in Santa Barbara

This luxuriously decorated, impeccably clean, and thoroughly comfortable studio was a perfect place to spend five days back in Santa Barbara, my home for 30 years, until I moved away six years ago. Located just one block from State Street, with its convenient electric trolley service, shops, restaurants and just five blocks from the beach and Stearn's Wharf, this apartment is great for enjoying all that SB has to offer. Off-street parking, a very pleasant and surprisingly private porch, and bicycles are welcome amenities. Laura emailed me to let me know that the city planned an electic service outage one night and offered an extra flashlight or whatever else I felt I needed. It was not an inconvenience at all since I slept through the outage! She checked the next morning to be sure that all was well. I highly recommend this studio, especially as an alternative to similarly priced hotel rooms! Great location, thoughtful service, excellent value. Five stars!

For anyone looking for a great home away this is the place! Great location, easy to get to State street and the beach. The house itself was amazing. I have never slept on a pull out bed quite like this one! It was so large and comfortable, easy to use and so amazing- i want one for my home!!!! please let me know where I can purchase one! I would come back anytime and stay here for sure! looking forward to it! I wanted to thank Laura for being such a doll! All and all this was such a wonderful experience I recommend this to anyone and everyone as the place to stay while in Santa Barbara.:) PS thank you for the Coffee upon arrival! was such a nice touch!

We had a great time at this studio apartment. It is big enough for two. We loved that it had a kitchen to cook meals in , and a washer and dryer for clothes. It is
centrally located; we walked everywhere from there, and when we got tired, jumped
on the local shuttle bus for 25 cents. There is a good grocery store around the corner. We also just loved the front porch, which was our private area. I personally enjoyed the rocking chair, from which we could watch the comings and goings on the street. The grounds are immaculately kept, and had lots of shade, including an orange tree, and a mango tree (I think!) and a banana tree next door.
I would recommend this apt. to anyone!

Georgeous studio

We stayed in the studio apartment and it was fantastic! It had absolutely everything you need, and was spotless and modern. Just a block from the main street and a couple of blocks from the beach - it is the ideal spot to explore Santa Barbara. Thanks to hosts Laura and Inga who were so helpful!
