About David Lewis

Owners are Dave and Janine Lewis, Glen Mills PA.

David Lewis purchased this house in 2008

Why David Lewis chose Cape May

My wife and my 3 boys have vacationed in the Cape May area for the past 20 years. We had always dreamed of owning a vacation home at the Jersey Shore but always treasured the beauty and tranquility of the North Cape May/Cape May Beach area. We have always enjoyed our vacations in this quiet and peaceful area while still having easy access to the Cape May ocean beaches, fine dining, quality shopping and the kid excitement of the boardwalk of Wildwood.

What makes this house unique

There are not many locations at the jersey shore where you really get the feel of owning your own private such as this property. Even on busy holidays as the 4th of July you will find the street very quiet will very few cars on the street due to Shore drive not being a 'though' street. The high quality of the beach is a surprise to many guests as it is not typical for a bayfront area.

The best vacation!

  • 5 of 5
I've been vacationing in Cape May for 20 years and this August, my fiancé and I enjoyed our stay in this beach more than I can express in this review! We spent two glorious weeks in this beautiful beach house, corner lot with spacious interior, plenty of parking spaces and a wonderful deck offering spectacular views of the Delaware Bay! The sunsets rival the "greatest show in the Keys"! David and Janine provide everything the vacationer could want and more. Whether you want to spend a day on the Bay beach or CM City beach, riding bicycles or simply sitting on the deck or porch, they provide every amenity you can imagine to make your day a special one. From the house, the path over the dune to the beach is quintessential Cape May. We walked the beach every morning and most mornings we saw dolphins not far from us swimming north in the bay! Every day we marveled at the sandbar that appears with low tide. It allowed us to walk further out into the bay and search for Cape May Diamonds! We enjoyed breakfasts on the deck and would drive into CM City (during the hottest part of the days) to lunch at many of our favorite haunts (Zoe's, the Mad Batter, the Pier House, Hot Dog Tommy's, and the Lobster House-of course-just to name a few!) For years, we've been seeing the banners advertising Harpoon Henry's and this year, we found it! Although, we didn't need to dine there to watch the sunset (since we had a perfect view from the deck of the beach house), we did eat dinner there twice and enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the close proximity to the house (less than one mile!) We enjoyed grilling the best fresh cut filets from the West Side Market! We enjoyed the best fresh seafood (shrimp and day boat scallops) from Fresh Catch, a new fish market on Bayshore. Their prices were in line with the quality of their offerings. We enjoyed visiting the local farm markets almost every day to pick up something for dinner or breakfast the next day! Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. We've been to the CM Vineyards & Winery many times, so, we visited the Hawk Haven Vineyards & Winery-they offer live music on Sundays! The beach house is so conveniently located close to the Bay beach, to the Ferry, to grocery stores, to fresh farm markets, to the airport, to the harbor, to CM City beaches, shopping & events, to CM Lighthouse, to Migratory Bird Sanctuary, to Sunset Beach, to EVERYTHING! Yet, you don't even have to leave the house to have a wonderful time!

Time slowed down...

  • 5 of 5
The minute we unpacked, I swear, time slowed down.
Just about my entire childhood revolved around the Cape May area due to our grandparents living in the lower township area. Sadly, when they passed away many years ago, our trips to Cape May pretty much ceased. This year we thought we would revisit Cape May with all of it's beautiful victorian glamour. After searching and searching for a suitable place to stay for the entire family, we found this place on the internet,
Dave & Janine made the process as easy as possable. the only thing we needed to bring was clothes and a happy face, everything else was already there (Dave, we loved the "K"-cup coffee machine!) there was a major grocery store right around the corner, we loaded up for the week and that was it! Every single type of cooking device and any type of utencil was already on site.
After unpacking, we made some coffee and went up to watch the sunset from the upper deck...what a breath taking site it was!... One of many that week.
Revisiting Cape May really excited me, I was able to point out all the exciting places to visit, and retell some of the stories I remembered my grandparents telling us when we where kids, to my kids. This house was just like home away from home, the kids would go do there thing all day and my wife and myself would do our thing, but then all meet up for dinner at the house and talk about our days, up on the deck while watching the sunsets. After dinner dishes where cleaned up, on to the Boardwalks, for a night of fun! Everyday seemed to slow down to a crawl...It was unbelievably relaxing, almost as if we lived there all the time...Sadly, it had to end, but, we are already talking about going back!
All I can say to Dave & Janine is thank you, thank you, thank you! for allowing us to share your little slice of heaven. We wanted or needed nothing more then what you provided, it will be forever one of the best vacations we have ever experienced, and hopefully we will be able to revisit your beautiful home in the near future.

Best regards,
Pat & Grace

Terrific vacation house!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great week in Cape May. It was wonderful to stay across the street from the bay and to experience a less-traveled area of town. The house easily accommodated three adults and two teenagers. It was very clean, comfortable, and the second floor deck is a great place to watch the sun set into the bay. The location is very convenient to all amenities yet in a quiet residential neighborhood. We would definitely recommend the property to friends.

Great Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5
This was the second year that I stayed here and it felt like I was at home again. The place is clean, the description of the property is accurate and the location is absolutely the best. You cross one small street and you are at the Bay. You can sit on the deck and watch the sunset. The owner was helpful and very nice to deal with. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a rental.

A Great Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I planned a spur of the moment getaway weekend to the beach and were delighted to discover this Cape May retreat. Dave and Janine were most accommodating with our last minute plans and we spent a most relaxing three days with two other family members the weekend of Oct 15-17. From the moment we arrived it felt like our home away from home. The house is so inviting and open and airy; decorated in warm colors and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen is generously equipped for food prep and dinnerware and we were eager to make use of the grill and other amenities the house has to offer. Although the weather that weekend was windy and too cool for swimming we enjoyed several long walks on the beach, took advantage of the bikes for some neighborhood rides and took a myriad of photos of the beautiful sunsets from just steps away from our front door.

There is so much to do in the Cape May area. We visited the Cape May Winery for an afternoon tasting, took in the Harvest Festival at the Emlen Physick Estate, walked around all the wonderful shops on Washington Street (don't miss the delightful gift shop "Across the Way") and we bought a variety of fresh fish from the Lobster House Fish Market to bring back and cook on the grill.

We are definitely looking forward to a return trip and a longer stay in the new year at this seaside haven. Thanks so much again Dave and Janine.

Great!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time! The house had everything you could possibly need. It was great to be able to go for bike rides, fishing, swimming and walking the beach right across the street from the house. The sunsets where beautiful. We spent a couple of days at Cape May beach but my youngest really enjoyed swimming in the bay the best and collecting rocks. The beach was never crowded. The only bad thing was we had to cut our vacation a day short because of hurricane Irene.

Notes:
There are two jetties very conveniently located near the house for the fishermen in the crowd. Or you can enjoy surf fishing or kayaking from the beach just across the street. Party boats and boat rentals are available just ten minutes away at the Cape May Marina. There are plenty of nice restaurants in the area with town of Cape May well known as the culinary capital of New Jersey, but seashore barbeques are always very special too. So the gas grill is ready to go whenever you prefer to stay at home and have dinner while watching the incredible sunsets for which you will have a front row seat every evening relaxing on the brand second story new deck constructed in 2009. You also may catch a birds eye view of the dolphins transiting along the bay. You'll definitely want to take some pictures to bring back home with you!!!
