My husband and I live in San Juan, but we rented "The Wilson House", as we affectionately dubbed it for about half of our family members (ages ranging from 11 up to 78) who visited for the week of Christmas. It is within close walking distance to our home which was very convenient. They all enjoyed the beautiful house, the kitchen, and the wonderful living & dining areas. December is cooler than when I first saw the house in August, so the open air living room was fabulous for them. Some were concerned about the mosquitos since the bedrooms don't all have glass windows, but a good time was had by all in spite of that. We hope to be able to rent the house again if we have aonther big group visiting.
The house is exactly as pictured and described (more beautiful in person), at a great price. We were very impressed with the size and spaciousness of the house. 6 of us stayed for a week in November, and were able to do laundry, stock the fridge full of food and drinks for the week (grocery store was close by), and access internet (which was spotty at times). Fans were supplied for the warm ground floor areas, and a/c was available in the upstairs bedrooms. Jacqueline and her family are very pleasant and easy to work with, and she gave us some great ideas of things to do while we were there. It is a short distance from SJU, Old San Juan, the beaches, and great restaurants and bars along the busier streets. We only rented an SUV one day to go to the rainforest and Vieques, and the driveway was sufficient size and the house was very secure. The rest of the time, we walked, or called for a taxi. The deposit was returned very quickly. A few cons: The bathroom off the room with the hide-a-bed was not completely in working order, as the sink was plugged up. We all experienced bug bites, as small bugs can come through the open/close blinds of the windows. We had to wash a few things in the kitchen before using--the blender, some silverware, plates and cups were not clean. A big drawback was that the house was not cleaned during our stay (it should have been one time, as it was stated in the description), and we were still charged the full cleaning fee. OVERALL, we were happy to have stayed in this house, and if we get the chance to come back to beautiful Puerto Rico, we would definitely hope this house was available!
Four of us stayed at this house and found it to be a great property. If your are looking for a place that has lots of room and lots of character - stay here! There is tons of room and the house is tucked in a great location within the Condado. It is a short walk to Bebo's restaurant (a favorite amongst locals) and even shorter walk to the grocery store...
While the property is older it kind of makes you feel like you are staying at grandma's house...which is comforting. We had great internet access the entire time we were at the property. Parking is suitable for one car (we had a minivan) and security is great (locked gates). Overall we were very impressed with the property! The owners are very easy to deal with and we found the property very clean. Thanks again!
We rented this home in September and fell in love with the architecture and charm of this spanish style home. The home is well cared for but there are tell tale signs of age. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood to the parks, restaurants and beaches nearby. The owner suggested that we visit the mountains in Guavate which was the highlight of our visit to the island. All in all, we loved our stay here and would highly recommend this property.
Stayed here in May with a fairly large group, we spilled over into another house down the road but could have squeezed everyone in here. As it was everyone spent all their waking time here as there's so much seating space for daytime use.
Impressive decor and furnishings, with some history to it too. It's not all perfect, a few appliances don't work in the otherwise well stocked kitchen, the hot water is patchy (not really a problem with the ambient temperature) and there was only 1 key.
No internet there but we were able to reach an unsecured wireless connection somewhere nearby.
Daytimes, it's a short walk up to the beach and Avenue Ashford (from where the bus runs to the old city). It was nice in the evenings to be able to walk a very short distance under the expressway to the Santurce market area, where the locals go to eat and drink.
All in all we felt we'd hit the ball out the park opting for this place.
The house was beautiful, the rooms was spacious. A few things need some work, but what a great place to stay. Everyone enjoyed having the house so close to the beach and attractions. The maid was super sweet and willing to help out. I would recommend this property to everyone. Thank you.
