About The Owner

Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.

My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2011

Beautiful House in a Tranquil Yet Convenient Location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four just returned from a fantastic two weeks at this beautiful villa! This was our first trip to Italy and we could not have wished for a more perfect place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by Gabriela, Adolfo and their charming and helpful daughter Valentina. They greeted us with a delicious cake and nice bottle of wine from a local vineyard. Gabriella and Valentina gave us a tour of the house and property, making sure that we had everything that we needed. Adolfo gave us helpful information on where to find good local restaurants and food stores. It was very nice to meet such a kind and friendly family. Thank you for an unforgettable vacation!!! The Villa itself was even more beautiful than the photos... thanks to the sounds of church bells, chirping birds and the smell of lavender and rosemary. The views from inside and outside the house are truly breathtaking! We felt like we were in a movie! The interior of the villa is cozy, clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable with fresh quality linens. The bathrooms and kitchen were perfect. The swimming pool was great after a long day of sight seeing! The local shop and vineyard owners were very kind and had everything that we needed. (Maria, who owns the local vineyard produces delicious wine & olive oil) Some of our favorite evenings were spent sitting on the patio, admiring the olive trees, over a glass of wine, cheese, bread and olive oil. The private location is conveniently located close to Lucca, Viareggio beaches, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Voltera, & Florence. If you are ambitious you can even take a day trip to Rome via speed train from Florence. Thank you also to Mrs. Sonia who made booking this house very pleasant and easy. We hope that we will be able to visit again in the near future!!!

Great Tuscan Villa - Perfect for relaxing and enjoying the local food and culture!

We stayed here in July for two weeks. There were 6 of us in total including my husband and I, our two kids ages 6 and 12, and my parents. The house was very roomy for all of us! The house is located about 10-12 min outside of the walls of Lucca up in the hills; if you are driving just know that the roads up to Aquilea are a bit tight but you get used to it quickly! Valentina and her parents were excellent hosts to us! They greeted us in the village and took us to the home and gave us a thorough overview of everything. Valentina provided recommendations and directions on nearby grocery stores as well as restaurants and wineries in the area. She was so very helpful and we loved her parents too! They were so gracious and helpful! The home is very nicely decorated, clean, and well-equipped. The kids loved the pool of course and I loved cooking in the kitchen! They have all the tools you need! We very much enjoyed having breakfast or dinner on the long table on the patio overlooking the yard with all the wonderful plants, flowers, and herbs. There is a beautiful view from the upstairs bedroom overlooking the surrounding Tuscan hills - we woke up to a beautiful sunrise there that we won't soon forget! We used the clothes washer several times while we were there and that worked quite well, which was helpful. We also visited the local bar in Aquilea some evenings after dinner for a nice icy cold shot of Lemoncello and got to meet some locals, which was very fun! Nice to hike up to the church and soccer field too, where we got to see some local kids soccer teams play which was nice! You hear the church bells in the mornings and longer on the weekends, which just fits in perfectly with the beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend this villa for anyone looking to get away and be out amongst the locals to experience true Tuscany! Florence is a short train ride away (catch train in Lucca) and Forte dei Marmi beach as well as the Cinque Terra are all close via car! Visit the winery nearby that Valentina recommends (some bottle were left for us on the counter to try); the wine maker is "Max". They do a beautiful tasting on the patio overlooking the entire Lucca valley - just amazing and the wine is very good!!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

5 star stay

My husband and I stayed in this lovely villa the last week of August 2013 with our 4 lifetime friends. There was plenty of room in the home, which was beautifully appointed. There is a nice living room to watch TV and a lovely outdoor terrace where we ate breakfast and a few dinners overlooking the lush countryside. The swimming pool was very nice with a sun lounger for each of us. The grounds around the pool are also very nice, the grass is always green, lots of flowers are all around and a breathtaking view. The location was spectacular. We drove into Lucca almost every day and it was only a 10 minute drive. We had a lot of luck parking on the street in Lucca and also drove to the the Tuscan countryside for a wine tour and drove one day to the beach in Forte dei Marmi. The house itself is very clean, the furniture is very nice and comfortable and the bathrooms have all been updated. The bedrooms were very nice with a king bed and jacuzzi tub and a separate built in shower. There was also a ground floor bedroom. This room would also be ideal for a child or for elderly parents. We paid extra for the housekeeper to cook breakfast for us all every morning and this is well worth it -- she was lovely, prompt and made us a delicious breakfast. We also hired a cook to prepare us a traditional Tuscan dinner for two evenings -- it was FABULOUS and even better than most restaurants we ate. The location of the villa on a beautiful hill with a breathtaking view. The pool is in an enchanting location in front of the house, at the top of a hill, from which we gazed over the sunset after a day spent sunbathing. The air conditioning and the excellent wi-fi connection were a bonus.

We would strongly recommend this villa to anyone traveling with a family or a large group. The owners live next door and are available to help anytime you need.

The Villa Pallina owned by Valentina and Sonia was a dream, and I have passed it on to many friends, including the link to your website. We enjoyed it so much. Thank you…. in wiser years, we find ourselves in beautiful places like “downtown” Aquilea, enjoying caffe and pane, with our own butter and marmellata. Staying at the Villa gave us the chance to live, just a little, as a native. I call it the advanced experience. Our families have seen many of the beautiful highlights the cities Italy have to offer. Now, we have stayed in a home, in a village, among great people. Our wonderful week at your lovely villa ended all too soon. We cannot hegin to thank you enough for you most gracious hospitality, helpful information, and outstanding accommodation. Our family had a wonderful time, and your hospitality during our visit made all the difference.

We love this villa!!!

What can I say...we stayed at this villa for 5 nights the beginning of September. It was everything that the ad said and more. The location is fantastic and even though the drive up the mountain is a challenge, it became one of the best parts of our trip. It would definitely be difficult to get by without a car if you want to leave the mountain to see any other towns or cities. There is everything in the villa that you could possible want. It's clean, roomy and the kitchen is very functional, they have really thought of everything that you might need. There are great restaurants nearby as well if you don't want to cook. We took advantage of the recommendations and were not disappointed. Lucca is so close and well worth a whole days visit. We took additional day trips to Florence, Pisa, Viareggio, and were only disappointed that we didn't have an extra hot, sunny day to spend by the pool. We found the owners to be responsive and helpful. They met us in Lucca and led us to the villa on our first day there, explaining all we would need to know about the villa before leaving us on our own. They also left us a homemade bottle of wine (fabulous) and a delicious italian cake that we ate for breakfast everyday until it was gone!! We woke up to fresh figs in a basket on the patio one morning as well, such a treat. The only thing I would note is that the listing says it can accomodate 7 people and I'm not sure how they would do that as we were tight with 6. All in all, a beautiful villa in a beautiful spot with lovely hosts...I would recommend it to anybody (and have!) I hope we can go back one day!!!

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in the gorgeous village close to Lucca. Not only was the weather really kind to us but our stay was made all the more perfect because the rental was exceptional. Villa Pallina is so beautiful, it is exactly as described, decorated to a very high standard - we were very comfortable. The weather was amazing and we enjoyed walking to the groceries and to the sagra zuppa for tipical dinners under the stars! Everyone was so friendly, we felt right at home. There are two fab restaurants and a great local shop. We went to Lucca, Pisa, Florence and also to the coast, where we had breakfast and a swim. There is so much to do and all destinations are very easy to reach from the villa- we loved driving to the wine area close to the villa where the nature, the view and the antique farms combine together. Mrs Gabriella & Mrs Sonia who owns Villa Pallina were very helpful and we just wanted to say that we shall be back, and in fact we have already booked a return trip for September!. Thank you!

Car: not necessary

ucca, beautiful city, famous for its monumental 15th century fortified wall. But dig a little deeper and you find that its winding medieval streets actually follow the plan laid out by the Romans in 180BC. And before the Romans, Lucca was one of the major centres of Etruria, the ancient country of central Italy that more or less corresponds to modern Tuscany. Unsurprisingly then, Lucca is steeped in history. Your twelfth century building is just a small part of that. There are museums and churches, and the magnificent cathedral, the Duomo di San Martino, is the town’s finest Romanesque building, its impressive façade a triumph of sculpture, carving and inlay work – at just five minutes’ walk from the apartment. Modern delights include terrific restaurants, bars and shops, all within a few minutes’ walk. In Lucca’s winding streets, the pedestrian comes before the car, so you can move at your own pace. In fact wandering the streets is one of the great pleasures of the city.
