Nassay and Atlantis are not Bahamas!

Roy and Linda are one of best hosts ever, they welcomed us at water taxi dock, brought us home where lobster dinner that Linda made waited for us, fresh fruits on the table, basic things already in the fridge.
House is not big, but it is very comfortable. If you are typical American you might find that kitchen elements are probably older than you are, but house is impeccably clean and has everything you will need. It has extremely well central AC that we tried not to use all the time (Roy and Linda never mentioned it, but electric bill can be quite an expense on the island). We also got golf cart which made any island errand tremendously easier or we just had fun driving around. Beautiful Spanish Wells beach was just few minutes walking or we were there in no time with golf cart.
Again, if you are American be ready for a huge surprise on Spanish Wells beach. Good people on Bahamas decided that you can have a beach house, but you cannot own the beach! This means that along 2 miles long beautiful sandy beach of north and east side of the island you can walk, stop, bring your chair and towel and stay for as long as you want, no one can put “Private property” sign – beach is something that belongs to everybody.
Second best thing on this beautiful beach is that there is almost no one there, on a two mile stretch we would see maybe 50 people at a time, you can see them, but if you do not want to hear them you can be far enough to have your perfect peace.
Weather at the end of July, beginning of August was beautiful, warm and no huge winds, water perfect never to hesitate do dip in, even if you just got out couple of minutes ago. One or two cloudy days and showers, but regardless it was more than worm and fun for kids and all of us to enjoy swimming.
If you need a boat (and I whole heartedly recommend you rent one) Roy can arrange one from another great island host Johnny Underwood. Having a 17 foot boat for a week was best decision we have made, Spanish wells beach is nice, but if you stay 10 days, well I can see it becoming a bit boring to go to the same place every day.
Boat and 50 HP outboard motor was quite sufficient and fuel friendly (I would rarely spent 6 gallon tank in a day) and we went to all surrounding islands and beaches, Royal Island, Egg Island, Harbor Island, Eleuthera Current Cut, …
We want to thank again Roy and Linda, their son Scott. Wonderful hosts, we would return tomorrow for another memorable vacation.
