Not a Hotel, Not a Highrise, a 'Home'.
When we say it's a 'home', we're reflecting on the many comments our guests have fed back over the years. They've returned to their 'home back home' with suntans, rich memories of the tours and activities they've chosen to experience. But they also take along memories of just having been free to relax with no hassles or elevator rides, or lengthy walks to the beach, or the garage. Ours is a kickback place where you call the shots.
With only eighteen units in the complex, we offer seclusion and privacy if that's your desire, or, if you choose, you'll easily find some great fun right there on the premises. Here's a sample of what can be found:
Stairs to the water lead to snorkeling, board and body surfing, kayaking, surf fishing. All are enjoyed just off our shore.
There's whale watching in winter and early spring.
Turtles come visit and dolphins are seen jumping not far away.
You're invited to join the fun at our resident manager's weekly sunset PuPu parties next to the pool.
It's just a short walk to the three-times-weekly Farmer's Market.
Your daily needs can be fulfilled at nearby grocery and convenience stores, delis and locally popular take-out eateries.
Frommer's Travel Guide named our Hoyochi Nikko Ocean Condos as one of their highest recommended properties. Maui Revealed gives Hoyochi Nikko their prestigious Gold Bar rating for excellence. Independent rating service 'Family Trips' gives Hoyochi Nikko, the Hyatt Regency and the Sheraton Maui a B+. with a side note 'Great!' It's where I would want to stay in Maui!'
My husband Jay and I live in the Northern California wine country, love the outdoors and our many return trips to our home away from home on the Maui beach front. We especially enjoy sharing our little slice of Maui Paradise with our guests, who continue to tell us how much they enjoy themselves during their stay. We welcome all our repeat visitors, and eagerly look forward to welcoming you first timers into our Island family. Aloha! Pam and Jay
Pam Steffen purchased this condo in 1999
First it was Maui, and our love affair with its unique variety of tropical landscape, country roads and dramatic ocean scenery. Add to that the wide choice of activities from snorkeling, surfing, championship golf, hiking, fishing along with plain old soaking up rays and napping on the beach. Our best discovery on Maui was when we stepped through the front door of our beachfront condo. We were treated to a postcard view of azure water with the sun setting between the islands of Lanai and Molokai. It was love at first sight. We now welcome you to that same experience. May it be everything you're looking for and more.
Our condo (one of only 18 on the two-story oceanfront property) has often been described as 'The Honeymoon Nest' because of its top floor, end-unit privacy. Other benefits we brag about are: a 20-foot vaulted wood ceiling, a remodeled kitchen, bath and air-conditioned bedroom.
This was our 5th stay at Hoyochi Nikko. Our 3rd in Unit 209. There are so many things about this property we like, it's hard to know where to begin. The location, views, sea turtle & whale watching, the pool, the beach, the condo, the WiFi, the Thursday Pupu party, the onsite managers - Irene & John. We are already making plans for our next trip. We have recommended this condo to many people. There are only a couple of items we would like to see improved or added. The bathroom could use better lighting. It would also be nice to have a TV in the bedroom. To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger - "We'll be back".
We have stayed at this complex in the past. This condo is clean and comfortable. The AC in the bedroom was welcome for a good nights sleep. The condo is at the end of the complex and you are the only one using the stairs to it. There is a locking side gate for a quick and short entrance to the pool and ocean area. Floating in the ocean was a daily ritual. Even saw a few turtles. The owner is great to work with especially after I had to change our dates several times. She is very accommodating. The parking area / space is tight but just let the passenger out and you'll have no problem. We had a great time ! We will be back. We love Hoyochi Nikko !
My husband and I and our daughter, son-in-law, and three grandsons stayed at Hoyochi Nikko to celebrate our daughter's tenth anniversary and my 70th birthday. She was married here in the First Congregational Church down the road. We had a wonderful time. Our unit was great. Pam was so helpful and gave us some added tips for our trip. She even left a lovely handwritten note to welcome us. It was clean and well maintained. Loved the artwork, especially the wall in the kitchen. The property itself is perfect for us and the children. Being a small property, we had the pool to ourselves, which was especially great for the children (ages 2, 7, 9). The beach is perfect for seniors and children. It is uncrowded and you can swim with the turtles! We checked out the Ka'anapali resort resort area which is perfect for shopping, walking, and dining, but way too crowded for our little ones. At Hoyochi Nikko, you can swim in the ocean or pool, and you are only few yards from your unit. Perfect!
I just returned from Maui yesterday and am missing it already. We had a mini family reunion with 5 units rented (all upstairs). It was perfect for a group as we each had our own space but could enjoy the pool, beach and grassy areas together.
Pam was so great, she even called the day before Hurricane Iselle was supposed to hit to make sure I knew about it and let me know about the evacuation procedures. The manager, John, was also very helpful and reassuring. We didn't have to evacuate but it was nice to know someone was looking out for us. If I go back to Maui, this is the place I'll stay. The grounds are immaculate and you can just walk out your door and swim in the ocean or the CLEAN pool. The surf can get high, especially on the heels of a storm, so be careful.
Staying at Hoyochi Nikko is simply the best! We have been visiting Maui for over 25 years and after staying at several other places, we now schedule our visits based on availability at Hoyochi Nikko. We have stayed in severl different units over the years but our experience this year was better than ever. Unit 209 was wonderful. One of the best units in the complex. Being at the end there are no other guests sharing the stairway, very quiet. Also it is shaded by a big tree and the trade winds blow through the unit keeping it nice and cool! We did not use the airconditioning!!!! not needed!
Look no further - This condo is perfect for those looking for a peaceful place to stay - right on your own beach. It truly felt like we were personal guests of Pam & Jay. You walk in the door and are immediately hit with a jaw-dropping, postcard view of palm trees and blue water. The location of #209 is ideal, offering uninterrupted views of the lawn, pool, beach and ocean, and it's an end unit, providing extra privacy (not that privacy is an issue at Hoyochi Nikko). We met other guests and owners at the "Pupu Thursday" get-together hosted by residence managers, which was a nice way to start our days together. Pam has put together a helpful book full of information on favorite local restaurants, activities, etc. We rented snorkel equipment and planned to visit some of the recommended bays and beaches, but we were happy just exploring the nearby rocks and reefs, particularly to the right. We saw several turtles and schools of colorful fish - right in our own "front yard." Although these pictures are accurate, thorough and beautiful, the new furniture in the living room and on the lanai makes this immaculate, well-appointed home even more welcoming. When you talk to Pam, it's evident that she loves this condo and enjoys sharing it with others. She told me she was "envious" of our upcoming stay! Every aspect of our transaction was handled with a personal touch, and I highly recommend making your reservation to experience this little piece of paradise right now!
