We just returned home from an amazing stay at this unit. We were travelling with a 15-year old and two toddlers and James went over-and-above to make our stay comfortable! He went to the effort to find two playpens AND two high chairs and had them waiting in our unit upon arrival. And that is only the beginning. The unit was beautiful, the décor was up-to-date and it was impeccably clean. Not to mention, it had everything we could have possibly needed including beach toys, beach towels, pool toys, boogie boards, a skim board and even a small selection of games and kids toys. The unit even has free Netflix. The resort was incredible and very clean. The variety of pools kept everyone in the family happy including our toddlers in the two toddler pools. The beach was actually wonderful, I had been worried that it might be too rocky but it was actually great for swimming with lots of soft sand and decent snorkeling. Groceries and restaurants were a short 5-minute walk. And the price of this unit is unbeatable. We did a lot of research and this until was by far the best price for something similar at the Honua Kai. If you are considering this unit, I highly recommend you snap it up before it's gone. If not, you will find yourself spending a lot more for something of similar quality. Thank you James for going out of your way to make this an incredible vacation for our family!!
We just returned home from a 10 day stay at the Honua Kai. We couldn't have had a better time! James was amazing to work with. He answered our questions promptly, suggested things to do and places to go and was always available when and if we needed him.
The unit itself was very spacious and immaculate. We ate every meal on the lanai and we were often visited by song birds in the morning. We saw so many rainbows during our meals. Loved having two bedrooms so we could spread out a bit. The only minor downside was having to share a bathroom with two tween girls but we made it work!
The resort itself was beautiful. Kids loved the water slide/waterfalls and koi pond. We loved the hot tubs! Dukes food was delicious and we LOVED the Aina market. Beach in front of the resort is beautiful but we enjoyed going to different beaches every day. Honua Kai is in a great location and so many amazing beaches are minutes away! THanks so James for supplying us with a beach umbrella, chairs, towels and boogie boards! There were also lots of pool toys in the closet as well.
We found two nearby grocery stores that carry organic/allergy friendly foods- Farm Market and Deli and Foodland. We were a bit unprepared for the price of food on Maui so expect to pay more for groceries.
Favorite places to visit: Pipiwai trail/Oheo Gulch, Honulua Bay, Black Rock, Napili Bay, Iao needle
Thanks, James- this was an unforgettable trip!
Arrived early May for a 2 week stay. Condo was great for the family (2 adults, 2 x 5 yr old children) and had a fantastic view. Very quiet too. If you hear a slight whirring sound, check outside as we found there was a bullfrog that would occasionally sit in the pool below ! Would definitely recommend staying here and James was attentive / a pleasure to deal with.
We are so thrilled with our choice to stay in this unit for part of our stay at Honua Kai. We hope to be back many times in our future stays to Maui!
The resort itself is incredible. Beautiful grounds, a variety of pools, beachfront, Duke's and Aina gourmet coffee on site! There are many reviews on trip advisor about how great Honua Kai is. This was my third time staying here and my first time renting privately through vrbo. I couldn't be happier with this unit.
The unit has 1 master, 1 spare bedroom, kitchen and a very large family room and bathroom. The lanai overlooks the beautiful courtyard in between the Hokulani and Konea towers and is the best place to have your coffee and breakfast in the morning sunshine.
Upon our arrival we found towels laid out for us on our beds (amazing service), instructions for the resort and local attractions, TV guide and wireless access, and a basket of fresh beach towels. The unit was also well stocked with extras like dish soap, shampoo and conditioner, spices, Saran Wrap and high end appliances. All of these small details made a huge impact on our stay here. Most importantly, the unit was clean and immaculately kept.
It is important to note that we stayed in this unit for half of our stay (due to availability) and another private vrbo unit in the Hokulani tower for the remainder. We wish we could've stayed here the entire time as it was a much more superior unit! Furthermore, this owner was particularly thorough and accommodating in all his interactions when booking our stay here.
A big thank you for making our stay in Maui so wonderful, we can't wait to come back again!
We had the pleasure of staying at this unit in Honua Kai for 10 nights, and the entire experience was wonderful.
The unit is great, stocked with plenty of handy things such as beach gear and toys for kids. Enormous balcony that gets the sunrise every morning, and the AC works to perfection on the inside.
James answered all of my questions promptly (and there were a lot of them), and the pools and beach are wonderful.
A few things:
1. If you are like me and are questioning whether Hawaii is too hot to visit in the summer, the answer is no. Plenty of wind in Ka'anapali, and in a good way.
2. Try the coffee at the Aina Market. Fantastic.
3. Check out the volcano and "upcountry". Off the beaten path, and amazing how close it is to the sunny beaches.
wonderul location , room and facilities. Good beach only because of steep drop off, kaanapali resort beach was where we played instead and is easy access by car or by the boardwalk. One bathroom is a little difficult for 2 couples but we managed as it is a very large bathroom. Service was attentive to our needs not that we had many. Would stay here again
