Our condo, aka ‘Honu Haven’, is located 11 yards from the ocean so it is truly oceanfront, not ‘ocean view’. As Iz says, ‘Let the sound of the ocean soothe my restless soul …. and rock me all night long’. The sound of the Pacific will loll you to sleep. Popular White Sands Beach is just steps away allowing you to hang out at the beach and walk home for a quick breakfast or lunch. Pahoehoe Beach Park is the adjacent property to the north and Kahalu’u Beach Park, which offers some of the best snorkeling on the island, is only a mile down the road. The owners were lucky enough to snorkel with manta rays during an early morning snorkel at Kahulu’u in October. Awesome!
Refurbished and refreshed in December 2013 with new rattan furnishings, linens and several special and artistic touches, #108 offers a fully equipped, remodeled kitchen with granite countertops, an upgraded bath w/tile and glassblock shower and several eco-friendly touches --- plastic ware for the beach (no need for paper plates), Brita water system (no need for bottled water), reuseable grocery bags, Kona Brewing Co. refillable growler (no need of bottles or cans) with more eco-friendly changes to come in March. Owners will be donating 5% of their annual net income to Hawaiian conservation efforts.
‘Honu Haven’ offers the most convenient access in the Kona Magic Sands complex, only 30 ft from your VIP parking spot to your condo. No hauling luggage, groceries, etc. up several flights of stairs or down long corridors.
Headed for the beach? Chairs, coolers, boogie boards and beach towels provided. Wifi? In condo or poolside. Don’t drive? No problem. There’s a daily trolley, which stops in front of complex, which can bring you to and from town.
Kona Magic Sands is a small 3 story complex with less than 40 units so things are pretty quiet and features an oceanfront pool, barbeque area, laundry facility.
View dolphins, whales, sea turtles (honu), and tropical fish from the condo. Catch fabulous sunsets. The Big Island offers pristine ocean waters with white, green and black sand beaches teeming with sea life, great hiking and biking, volcanoes, rainforests, coffee and nut plantations, a wealth of history and, yes, even a few golf courses.
Great views and the sounds of the waves crashing as we nodded off to sleep. Much better than car horns and alarms. Mahalo!
