Rushing creek and lots of room
A few of my friends and I rented this cabin and the other two down the way from it in February for two birthdays we were celebrating. We drove about 9 hours, and had no trouble finding the cabin. It had a very nice sign right at the entrance to the road, and we were just blown away at what we found.
The cabin is situated next to a rushing creek that you can hear from everywhere on the property (I was able to block the noise from inside by keeping the windows shut, since I need it quiet to sleep). There was a firepit, picnic tables, and a large area where you could easily fit an RV and 3-4 cars. As soon as we let our dogs out, they were in heaven -- we couldn't even get their attention they were both so engrossed in all of the smells and the foliage and the creek and the beautiful landscape. The cabin has a nice porch facing the creek (you could practically fish off it!) and a little area where you could grill out too.
Inside, there's a nice fireplace, high ceilings, and lots of mountain cabin decor. Everything is wood, and there's a big gas fireplace (and gas heat and instant hot water heater, too). Having the satellite TV and Internet was also a big bonus here, if you want to stay in for the weekend. Both bedrooms were very comfortable, and the bathroom was plenty big and a nice shower and tub. The kitchen was very usable and fully equipped. We stopped and got provisions in the nearby town, Murphy, NC, and we were set all weekend.
Nearby, there's a lot of activities. There are lakes, rafting, fishing, good restaurants, and plenty more. The town had a local bakery and a few quaint shops and an artist guild store (we picked up some local gifts).
My friends in the other two cabins each had toddlers, and between the rushing stream and the firepits in each location, we barely had to leave the properties. If you're looking for a relaxing, scenic mountain getaway, where you're still not far from activities, this place is for you.
