This charming, heritage, ground level 275 sq. ft. studio apartment is centrally located in the heart of the leafy West End, one of Vancouver’s most sought after neighbourhoods. The suite is ideally suited to the single traveller, or a couple. For women travelling alone, it is a safe, welcoming and secure environment.
It is quiet, elegantly appointed, cozy and full of character, reflecting a European style, with hardwood floors, a custom-built queen-sized wall bed, wool duvet and cotton bed linens, a well supplied kitchenette, and a classic bathroom with a large cast iron, claw-footed bathtub and hand held shower unit. Wifi is available in the suite, and use of a small gym in the building can be arranged.
The studio is in an award-winning, lovingly restored 1920's heritage building on a tree-lined street within easy walking distance to downtown Vancouver. It is also only a short walk to Stanley Park and its famous 10 km. seawall, several beautiful beaches, a host of fine restaurants and cafes, and to Robson Street, a premiere shopping street.
Also nearby are grocery shops, green-grocers, dry-cleaners, pharmacies, bakeries, coffee shops, hardware stores, many small boutiques, an international mix of bistros and restaurants, and convenient city bus routes.
The Fresco Suite offers the best of Vancouver urban life... a cozy home in a quiet neighbourhood by the sea, yet only a few minutes walk to the downtown core.

I live in the area and love this neighbourhood as it is close to the best of everything Vancouver has to offer - great beaches, mountain and sea views, Stanley Park and its famous seawall, as well as some of Vancouver's finest restaurants and shopping. All within easy reach. You don't need a car!
This is a darling space, bright, cozy and charmingly decorated with added luxury of a perfect bed. The suite is in an elegant heritage building which is well and lovingly maintained by it’s proud owners who also are very warm and welcoming.
The West End is a most wonderful location in Vancouver, from here, there is access to most everything. Also, there is usually a gentle breeze from the ocean providing deliciously fresh air.
A short or medium walk on beautiful tree-lined streets in one direction takes you to both Stanley Park, English Bay beach and innumerable small cafes and shops including internet cafes and a public library if you need access to a computer and the internet. In the other direction you will find theatres, sports events as well as excellent shopping in downtown Vancouver. The busy waterfront and harbour are close by.
If you prefer not to walk; daily, weekly and monthly transit passes are available and transportation is a short block away. The bus makes a loop from the West End to the downtown core, and then returns on a different route to the West End.
The Fresco is well equipped to make yourself breakfasts, lunches and, with a little planning, an emergency dinner.
I enjoyed immensely my stay in this lovely location and will return at every opportunity.
Me and my wife visited from Stockholm and had a wonderful time in Vancouver's West End. Charlotte's studio is very cozy and tastefully decorated with a super comfy bed! The location was perfect with only a short walk from Stanley park, the beaches and a vast selection of amazing restaurants. We especially enjoyed all the Japanese restaurants in the neighbourhood where Kingyo and Guu Garlic quickly became our favorites. Charlotte is a charming host, very attentive and helpful. She gave us lots of recommendations on what to see and where to dine. We fully recommend this spot to others visiting Vancouver.
The West End is the best location in Vancouver: Stanley Park, beaches, coffee spots, ethnic foods and a real international feel. Leafy green streets, pocket parks, helpful folks. The suite is well decorated and equipped. It is small---great for a single occupant or a couple that can enjoy the intimacy of a cozy romantic space. The owner, is welcoming, charming and helpful. The suite has pleasing art and furnishings. There is a nice sound system; bring your own CDs.
The Fresco Suite was perfect for our stay. It's in the heart of the West End and easily walkable to many of the sights of Vancouver. The suite had everything we needed, and the bed was ridiculously comfortable. Charlotte (the owner) was extraordinarily helpful during our stay. She provided many helpful dining recommendations and got our parking permit for us (from the local West End community center) which allowed us to park for cheap around the area (~$10 for the week). Otherwise, parking in the decks is much more expensive than that.
I loved the feel of the area--like a cozy neighborhood in the middle of the city. I'm still amazed by the wonderful landscaping and the well-loved historic building. I'd happily stay here again and will recommend it to others visiting Vancouver!
I enjoyed my stay at the Fresco Suite. This cozy basement suite is clean and well appointed and is as depicted in the photographs. The bed is very comfortable and everything works well in the kitchenette and in the little bathroom (which is quite elegant actually). The heritage building is well maintained and quiet. The owner of the suite is friendly and helpful and the other tenants in the building who I met were easy to get along with.
I was born and grew up in Vancouver and I know this as a great location. It is central and handy to everything the city has to offer. I especially enjoyed being able to walk along the seawall from Nicola and Beech St. either to catch the ferry across False Creek to Granville Island (where there is a good, fresh, local food market) or the other way, into Stanley Park.
This is a great place to stay in Vancouver and I would recommend it to family or friends (or to a couple) who are traveling without a car.
I stayed in the fresco suite for the month of June and then August. The apartment is both elegant and intimate and provided everything I needed from kitchen utensils, to laundry facilities. There is, as well, an exercise room. It was a pleasure to observe the care with which the 1927 building has been restored. The location could not have been better: mere blocks to Stanley Park and its beaches, shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The owner, Charlotte, was always on call and accommodated any number of needs, both practical and those related to the city's museums, galleries and restaurants. I highly recommend this apartment for long or short term.
I stayed here for one week, and I wish I could have stayed longer. I was especially fortunate during that time to only have one day of rain. :)
Even though it is a basement studio suite, it still gets a lot of light and the space is very functional. It's in a super convenient location, in my favorite neighborhood in the city, and the building's elevator was easily accessible for bringing my luggage in and out of the building, and the laundry room is on the same floor. The wall bed is super easy to operate and the linens and mattress were super soft. (After staying here, I went to a hotel that boasts four stars, and honestly? This bed was nicer.)
Additional features that were great about the apartment was the wireless internet, the iPod-compatible speaker dock alarm clock, and, perhaps my favorite, the cast iron bathtub. Everything one would need for a short visit is provided for the kitchenette, as well as a folder of guides and maps for the area.
It was my first time using VRBO, and Charlotte was a fantastic host -- I was caught up in flight delays and I was hours late arriving; but she was so nice and welcoming. She even had a few things for me to nibble on when I got in, which I was immensely grateful for. Always one phone call away if I had any questions or concerns, but I had no troubles to speak of my entire stay. :)
