Location and privacy were the reasons we purchased this home. Blowing Rock is spectacular!
We had a great weekend at this house...it was beautiful, clean, fresh linens and towels. Although it was just a couple of us at the house the layout is perfect for a large family as well. The owner was very easy to communicate! Great overall experience :)
We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our family's first ski trip. The location was perfect! It only takes about three minutes to drive to Appalachian Ski Mountain. I should also mention there are plenty of other conveniences- i.e. restaurants, grocery stores, a mall and outlet shopping, and plenty of other outdoor activities fairly close by. The house was very clean and stocked. There were plenty of towels for our family and a hair dryer in every bathroom. The living room, kitchen, and dining room has an open floor plan so you really can enjoy your time together with family and friends. Having the fireplace and hot tub was a wonderful bonus for the chilly days that we vacationed there. We had quite a big snowfall one night (A HUGE bonus for south Louisiana natives!) and the snow plows came through by about noon to clear the roads on the mountain, and kindly enough, the driveway, so we could get out to drive over to the slopes.
This is a very comfortable home and I highly recommend!
The house was absolutely perfect!! We loved the location being so close to the ski slope, it was very convenient. The house was super clean and had everything we needed. We loved the fireplace and the hot tub was huge hit with the kids!
We love this house. It was clean, well stocked and the perfect weekend getaway. The caretaker, Cathy Thompson, is amazing. She went above and beyond to make are stay the best it could be. We can't wait to get back up there again.
This was our first time to Blowing Rock, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The property was nicely situated in between Boone and Blowing Rock which made for any easy trip to local sight-seeing locations and restaurants (we loved Moses H. Cone park for hiking and runs, and the Village Cafe for brunch).
To make our stay even more quaint, we could hear the sound of the steam engines and Ghost Trains running at the nearby Tweetsie's railroad. We also saw a wedding on the next door ski slope--this location is likely a very convenient spot during the snowy season (you can see the chairlift from the kitchen).
We built fires, made s'mores, enjoyed the hot tub and took in the clean mountain air. Great spot overall!
Pros: House was very clean and totally renovated. Loved the kitchen with granite counter tops & SS appliances. The open layout on the top floor was well suited for our 2 families. Location was ideal, less than 10 minutes to downtown Blowing Rock. The crib located on the lower level bedroom was a huge bonus for our little one. One more thing we did not have to bring.
Cons: The house is "nestled" on the mountain right next to the top of Appalachian Ski Mountain. If you are staying in the winter and can access the slope this might be ideal. As was stated in another review on VRBO, the view from the front of the house in the summer is somewhat overgrown. If we had stayed in the winter it may not have been an issue. This was a minus for us. Also, I felt the cleaning fee was a little high as compared to other properties we have stayed in in the area.
Overall, we had a nice stay in this well maintained property & would recommend it to others.
