An 1100 sq foot house with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 4-6

This cozy house has everything a week getaway requires such as a ping pong table and lake access just walking distance away. Enjoy a relaxing nap on our hammock, a quiet breakfast on the back patio, or a snack in our attached garage which serves as a party room. While on the beach, enjoy endless walks down the spotless sand which stretches 3 miles of undeveloped beachfront owned by the Grand Traverse Land Conservancy.

In Arcadia, you could enjoy the atmosphere of a small town on the coast of Lake Michigan. Also, in a short ten minute drive you stumble across Elberta. This petite town has a local farmers market on Thursday mornings. You may also visit a rental shop for reasonable bikes and kayaks..The lighthouse in nearby Frankfort is a must to walk to and has quaint shopping.

Activities: With our beach access, you may swim in the crystal clear Lake Michigan water. Also, enjoy endless walks down the gorgeous beach. About a mile down you may observe giant sand dunes, and even attempt to climb them. Just one mile away, Arcadia is the cute, quite, little town with a gas station, a restaurant, and a marina connected to a great old fashioned ice cream shop. In July, they celebrate the town during Arcadia Daze. This celebration involves old/new car shows, music, food, pony rides, crafts, and bundles of fun! Since Arcadia is only 1 mile from our house, you could enjoy the atmosphere of a small town on the coast of Lake Michigan.

Nearby Towns: If you do wish to be connected with the world, there is a small city just 10 miles away in Frankfort; there you may visit the library and check your email. Also, in Frankfort, you may walk out on the pier and look at the magnificent lighthouse up close. In addition, every Thursday during the summer, the Elberta Farmer's Market provides fresh home grown fruit, veggies, plants, eggs, honey, etc. Elberta also has a shop where you may rent kayaks to coast with in the bay and also rent bikes. You may ride bicycles on the The Betsie Valley Trail which extends from Frankfort through Elberta and Beulah to Thompsonville in Benzie County. This trail provides a peaceful experience to share with the family.

Cherry Festival!: A major attraction from July 3rd through July 10th is the National Cherry Festival. It's held in the 'Cherry Capital of the World' - Traverse City, Michigan. Join thousands of visitors who come from all over to celebrate the harvest and, of course, eat tons of cherries. Also in Traverse city is an enormous mall and several retail stores. At just 30 minutes away, its a fun outing for a rainy day.

Our pleasant home is nestled along Michigan's northwest coast. Arcadia is a small lake shore community with a gas station, a restaurant, and a marina connected to a great old fashioned ice cream shop. Also, just 2 miles away is the #1 ranked public golf course in Michigan, The Arcadia Bluffs. To add, casinos and antiquing are near, as well as blue ribbon trout streams and National Forests. Also enjoy traveling to Traverse city if a larger city is desired. At just 30 minutes, its a fun outing for a rainy day. Finally, the fall color getaways are outstanding with winter skiing and trails to top of the off season!

Golf: Just 2 miles away is the #1 ranked public golf course in Michigan, Arcadia Bluffs. This course is like no other due to the rolling terrain and windswept natural fescues grass. Players will enjoy the spectacular views of Lake Michigan from all points on the majestic layout. Most Fridays and Sundays during the summer one may enjoy the peaceful sounds of the Scottish bagpiper, as you watch the sun go down at the Clubhouse.

For those that need a less challenging course there are over 30 to chose from within a half hour drive.

Ski: About 30 minutes away is the Crystal Mountain ski & spa resort. During the winter months you may ski and ride on 45 downhill slopes, which includes two terrain parks and a 700-foot half-pipe. If you are a cross-country skier, then you will enjoy adventures through the vase wooded valleys.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency () unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • We request 50% of the balance to secure your date(s) and the other 50% will be due 30 days prior to your stay. In addition, we require an extra $50.00 for our cleaning fee which should be included with final payment. Checks are preferred, and you may write it out to Carl Hencsie.

    As for check in and check out times, we ask guests to exit by 10 a.m. unless previous arrangements have been arranged and incoming guests may check in at 2:00 p.m.

Notes:
Our walkway to the water is a 1-2 minute walk (40 feet) from our house. The home is on a very quiet area with little traffic yet within minutes you can not only visit the quiet town of Arcadia, drive less than 10 minutes to the more active towns of Elberta and Frankfort. There are also a variety of small towns and a very strong art community. About twenty minutes to Interlochen, which has a variety of concerts. If you are considering buying in the area this area is still of great value and due to the pristine beaches that are not over populated, it may be a great place to spend a week looking for your own future property. If that is not feasible I would hope you would truly enjoy the time away at our home.

We stayed here in July of 2010 and had a wonderful family vacation. The house is very nicely and comfortably furnished and the grounds are peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed watching the deer from the back deck and our dog loved the large yard and long walks on the beach. We played in Lake Michigan (it is only a very short walk away), rode our bikes on the Betsie trail (not to be missed!), visited the sand dunes, and in the evenings my husband and son battled it out for the title of ping pong champ. On a more practical side, I really appreciated the convenience of the washer and dryer. Overall, it was a great week at a great place and one we feel blessed to have experienced.
