Conveniently located approximately 90 minutes south of Anchorage, the Mystic Lodge is a custom built chalet in the heart of the Kenai Mountains. Featuring hardwood floors in the living room, tile in the kitchen/bath and wall to wall carpet in the bedrooms your feet are always warm from the radiant in floor heating. With a cathedral ceiling and elements of post and beam, you are truly 'roughing it comfortably' with some of the best fishing in the world literally at your doorstep. Tastefully appointed with artwork and local pictures, the south facing windows are practically overgrown with beautiful houseplants and offer magnificent views of the Kenai Mountains where Mt. Goats and Dall Sheep are often visible.
Whether you are fishing the upper Kenai for trout or salmon, the lower Kenai for King Salmon, or the saltwater possibilities out of Seward or Homer, we are centrally located making all of these locations possible. If you are not a fisherman, there are unlimited hiking and biking trails that offer endless wildlife viewing possibilities, and we are always happy to offer suggestions or help in planning your desired activities.
Our love of the outdoors and the wild beauty of Alaska brought us to Cooper Landing. We are both transplants from the southwest and enjoy hiking, camping and of course fishing. As a fly fishing guide for Mystic Waters and my wife's love of the outdoors, it seemed natural to settle on Kenai Lake. We are less than a mile from where the world famous Kenai River begins, which puts us in some of the best fly fishing water in all of Alaska. We invite you to come enjoy our beautiful vacation home and share in the beauty of our magnificent state.
Stacy or Shannon purchased this house in 2003
We built our rental during the fall of 2002 and the winter of 2003. We built the Mystic Lodge primarily to accommodate guests that come up to fish the Kenai with us, but you don't have to fish to enjoy this wonderful area. The outdoor activities and wildlife viewing opportunities abound. Spend a week here and you'll see why Cooper Landing truly is the 'gem' of the Kenai Peninsula.
Beyond the incredible beauty of this area, we are conveniently located 90 minutes south of Anchorage on Kenai Lake. We are a mile from the Kenai River (on Kenai Lake) and 10 minutes from the famous Russian River which puts you right in the middle of some of the best sport fishing in the world. There are numerous hiking and biking trails in the area and we are minutes away from the town Cooper Landing. You will frequently see wildlife including moose and bears. Mountain goats and Dall Sheep can be seen almost daily on the adjacent mountains.
I have been a guest of Stacy and Shannon's for the past six years. I guess that I would describe their lodge as a "home away from home". First of all, we are in Alaska to fish. They have a very nice deck where we can get out of our boots and waders. Then just inside the front door is a tilted entry and hooks for damp waders and clothes. The deck also has a nice grill where you can cook the catch of the day. The kitchen is well stocked with every utensil that one would need to prepare a meal if desired. The kitchen has everyone one needs except a cook. The lodge can sleep 7 comfortably, but in our case it sleeps 4 very comfortably. In other words there are three queen beds and one twin. All bedding and towels are provided. There is one bedroom on the first floor and a sleeping loft on the second. The living room is comfortable with a large flatscreen TV and satellite reception. Bathroom has a tub/shower and washer/dryer. I can reccomend this lodge with no reservation at all. It is extremely clean, comfortable and very well maintained.
We stayed for 3 nights, and everything was absolutely perfect... it's location made accessing the Kenai and Russian Rivers a breeze, and it has everything you would ever need for a home away from home.
Will definitely stay here again on future trips!!
Our stay here exceeded my expectations! This is the Taj Mahal of cabins in Cooper Landing. Very comfortable in an extremely beautiful setting. Stacy was a wonderful host and fishing guide. We had a fabulous time and I’m looking forward to going back!
I checked many cabin rentals in Cooper Landing area. This was by far the best.
Stacy was fun to work with and most accommodating. Also, grest fishing guide.
when in alaska in the summer, you don't spend much time indoors... but when you ARE at your lodging, you want it to be inviting and really comfortable because you're most certainly exhausted from a day filled with activity... and this cabin was the perfect place for me and my family to rest and relax and get ready to do it all again! there were 5 of us staying there, and had plenty of room. Plus, after several successful days of salmon fishing, we wanted to eat it immediately - and the kitchen had all of the tools, dishes, pans, we needed to do that salmon justice! plus it's a short walk down to the lake - where you can really wake yourself up with a QUICK dip in the cold water!! highly recommend.
Stacy and Shannon have done a terrific job in having a VRBO that exceeded our expectations. We have stayed in a number of VRBOs over the years and by far this one was is rated one of our favorites. The chalet was especially clean, tidy, and very well stocked. It had everything we needed and much, much more. The location was perfect providing easy access to trails, local stores and restaurants. Loved the Kingfisher restaurant and ice cream at Wildman's. If back in the area, we will certainly be back to the chalet. Thanks for everything!
This gorgeous cabin was everything we wanted in seclusion and amenities. The kitchen and gas grill were perfect for cooking dinner (fresh caught salmon... yum!) The wood paneling and the plants in the cabin give it a warmth I didn't expect. The owners live close by so if you have any problems (like locking yourself out as we did) they are there promptly to help.
The location was central to everything we wanted to do in Cooper Landing... the boat ramp is less than a mile away; the Russian River was about a 20 minute drive. You can find hiking trails in either direction as you leave on the main road. And the fishing! This is the cabin you want to live in for your trip.
When we checked in, the owners made a point of telling us, "This is YOUR cabin... make yourselves at home." And we did. If we ever travel to Alaska again, you can bet we'll be staying here.
We are located on Kenai Lake, about 1 mile from where the world famous Kenai River begins. This is the center of some of the best fishing and outdoor activities in all of Alaska and perhaps, the world.
