The cultural love child of genteel old Europe, the exotic Caribbean and the sultry South, New Orleans' original colonial neighborhood sets the scene for memorable romantic getaways. This is a city that revels in its passions, and for the visitor with an open heart the sensuality here can be infectious. It is also a city where people come to celebrate, whether by joining the massive public exuberance of Mardi Gras and other events or marking personal milestones in the lives of lovers, such as honeymoons and anniversaries. When a couple raises a glass in toast to each other, it can seem as though the entire town is following suit here.

Part of the appeal of New Orleans is its relaxed pace - a key ingredient to any romantic experience - and a leisurely carriage ride for two is a romantic way to get acquainted with the neighborhood at the beginning of a visit. Various types of mule-drawn carriages are available for hire at Jackson Square on Decatur Street. Carriage drivers generally narrate their tours of the Quarter with stories of various landmark properties, but just let him or her know at the start that you prefer to concentrate on your companion's company and you will have a serene cruise past the beautiful architecture and colorful street-scapes of the Vieux Carré. Snuggle under a blanket on the occasional chilly evening or bask in the tropical sunshine during another beautiful New Orleans day.

The French Quarter's many elegant restaurants make ideal venues for special meals with loved ones. But while the city is most famous for its Creole cuisine, it is the Italian restaurants of the French Quarter that offer some of the most romantic settings.

Great Marigny Location, All the Essentials
Carol’s place is in the perfect location in the Marigny, just a few blocks from Frenchmen St, the French Quarter, and an easy walk to the Bywater. The place is small and has everything you need for a weekend in New Orleans. We had a great trip and would recommend you stay here!

We had a great stay with Carol!! She was friendly and knowledgeable about what to do and eat. Her accommodations worked well for my husband and I during Jazzfest. Amazing it’s so close to Frenchman and the Quarter!! Thank you Carol for being a great hostess and opening your home! We hope to come stay again 😊

Easy Walk to Frenchmen
Loved the location since I tend to hang around the jazz bars when I visit. Within walking distance (20/30 mins) of everything.

2 nights in New Orleans
Everything was great! Only thing that would have been nice to have was a couple of glasses for cold drinks. Other than that, all was good. Close walking distance to Bourbon Street and everywhere else! Thanks!

About the host

Host profile image
I am a professional who came to New Orleans post-Katrina to work on homes in Chalmette, (Saint Bernard Parish) that were damaged by water and oil spill that occurred from Katrina. I fell in love with this city and the people here and decided to purchase a home and re-locate. I believe in the special magic of New Orleans and it's people and am dedicated to the rebuilding process.

Why they chose this property

New Orleans is the most unique city in the United States with a European 'feel'. New Orleans architecture, history, music, art, and world renowned cuisine attract visitors from all over the world. I chose this property because of its proximity to the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street. Our home is located in the famous Bend of Bourbon where the 'Street Car Named Desire' once traveled. We are surrounded by mansions and homes on the National Historical Registry.

What makes this property unique

We are located in the historic Marigny in a quiet, residential neighborhood, a stones throw from the French Quarter and 2 blocks from Frenchmen Street, where traditional live jazz still reigns king.

Enjoy convenient, free on street parking directly in front of our home.

New Orleans is a walking city and our home is conveniently located to access famous restaurants, watering holes, live music, live theatre, shopping, museums and sightseeing without the use of a car.
