Pacific Monarch: This condominium complex is located in Central Waikiki at 2427 Kuhio Ave. The cross street is Uluniu. The central location allows easy access to the beach, restaurants, stores & tourist shops. You are not located on the Canal side or at the end of Waikiki. This provides great advantages for convenient access. The building is located on the ocean side of Kuhio Ave. next to the Hyatt Regency.

The Condominium: The 1 bedroom 1 bath unit is on the 29th floor of a 33-story building. The bedroom is separated by solid walls and a door -- it is not walled off by a curtain. This is a corner unit, which faces towards the ocean. You are not located on the back or side of the building. Wake up and enjoy views of the ocean and beach. The 29th floor allows unobstructed views of the city. At night the twinkling city lights are enjoyable to watch. Any room facing the ocean is also facing south and receives plenty of sunlight. Waikiki gets warm so all windows have the latest high tech tinting to reduce glare and heat (not found in many units) and the unit has air conditioning.

Amenities: The unit sleeps 4 maximum. The bedroom has 1 king size bed. The sofa has a pullout double bed. There is 1 bathroom with a shower/bath. Linens and towels are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, cooking utensils and dishes. There is Cable TV, a VCR/DVD and stereo system. All local calls are FREE.

Internet: High Speed Cable Internet access is available.

No Smoking: Smoking is not permitted.

Lanai: There is a spacious open lanai with great ocean and city views. The lanai has a table, 2 chairs and lounger. I have a real lanai that you can go out on and enjoy. Most other lanai's in Waikiki are too small to actually go out and use.

Pool/Spa: On the roof of the building is a heated pool and spa. There are magnificent views of Waikiki from the pool deck. At night the spa is a great place to relax and enjoy the night sky. The floor below has a sauna, showers, restrooms and party room with ice machine.

Parking: Parking is available for $20 per day. A ticket machine at the garage entrance accepts bills from $1 to $20. The parking garage is located on floors 2 to 5 of the Pacific Monarch building.

Laundry: A coin-operated laundry room is available on the 3rd floor.

Bus: Bus transportation is very convenient. There is a bus stop right next to the Pacific Monarch. Buses come by every few minutes and can take you to most major places on Oahu. The bus is particularly convenient for transportation to the Ala Moana Shopping Center.

Conveniences: Adjacent to or across the street from the Pacific Monarch are 3 convenience stores and 3 restaurants. There is a popular barbecue restaurant, steak house and café. The Hyatt Regency is next door with its high-end restaurants. Fast food restaurants are right around the corner. The International Market Place is just 2 blocks away and the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is 3 blocks away. Kapiolani Park is located at the end of Waikiki with its many attractions including the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, tennis courts and sports fields. A travel desk is located in the lobby for tours and local attractions.

Beach: Waikiki beach is a “very short” walk. Just walk past the Hyatt Regency and you’re there!

Compare: Compare the location of my unit within the Pacific Monarch to other advertised units. My unit has a great view and does not face into another building. I don't close the curtains on the photos that you see. Compare the location of the Pacific Monarch to others in Waikiki. The Pacific Monarch is in a very good location compared to most other condominium buildings. The walk to the beach is very short. Other buildings require a long "city block" walk to get to the beach. Compare the conveniences of the Pacific Monarch to other condominium buildings. Restaurants & convenience stores are right there next to the Pacific Monarch.

A Home away from Home

Location, location, location! Not only is this condo ideally located on Kuhio in the heart of Waikiki, but the unit itself overlooks the ocean with a wall of windows. The two patio doors opening onto the lanai (one in the living area and the other in the bedroom) have an expansive view towards downtown - which is especially lovely at night with all the lights. Stepping out on the lanai one can look over the Ala Wai canal and golf course, as well as the majestic Ko'olau Mountains. No matter where you look, the views are spectacular. My favourite was looking down over the constantly changing colours of the ocean, with the surfers waiting for a wave, and the people tanning on the beach.

The photos are accurate, though I found the unit much nicer in real life. Everything in the condo is spotless and looks like new, from the stainless appliances to the granite counters, the modern lighting and the fully stocked cabinets. No carpets, just easy to maintain ceramic tiles throughout. We really appreciated having two tables to sit at, in the dining area and on the lanai. So much nicer than having to perch on bar stools at a counter, especially when eating or using the computer. Most of our time when "home" was spent on the lanai. All of our guests were very impressed with the condo, both the incredible views and the amenities.

So many things to see and do are within easy walking distance: King's Village, the Zoo and Aquarium, the Hula Mound, the Movie Screen on the beach, the International Market, and many restaurants ranging from McDonalds, Denny's and IHOP to Hy's Steak House and higher-end restaurants next door at the Hyatt Regency.

Gary was always most helpful with any of our questions, and could be reached easily by e-mail or phone. We are so pleased that he let us share his "Hawaiian home". We would recommend this condo to anyone, and indeed, can hardly wait to go back ourselves next January. We feel we have found our winter "home away from home" for the foreseeable future.

A True Gem

I highly recommend this unit. The view from the balcony is stunning, with a nice view of the ocean, city, and mountains. The view has its own beauty at different times of the day and is a great place to eat breakfast or dinner. The kitchen is newly remodeled and completely stocked. And the walk to a charming park and gorgeous beach takes 5 minutes at most. My husband and I really hope to get a chance to stay here again.

We really enjoyed the stay at this condo. It's decorated very lovely and it's clean. We found it well equipped. Especially the kitchen stuff was like new. The photos made by the owner are exactly what you get. The view ist breathtaking.
This was our 7th visit to Oahu and we already made experiences with some different condos. But now we know our next stay will be here again, at Garys condo. And I will definitaly recomend this condo in my travelforum.
I recommend the sundaybrunch at Halekulani. But you need a reservation at least 3-4weeks in advance. We loved the sunsettrip with Mai-Tai-Catamaran too.
If you rented a car take the time and drive the Tantalusdrive. A spectacular view of HNL awaits you... Or explore the westcoast of Oahu. There are a lot of wonderfull beaches. We loved the Electric Beach or Yokohama Beach. Here starts a great hike to the westernmost point Kaena Point.
For the first time we visited the Farmers Market near the Diamond Head. We recommend to go there before breakfast ;) Not far from here is the Makapu'u Lighthouse and you can enjoy a gorgeous view to Kane'ohe Bay or at the best weather conditions you'll see the other Islands of Hawaii.
The best noodle soup (in our opinion) you will get at Goma Tei Ramen at the Ward Center. They are very friendly .
We love to buy fruits and vegetable in Chinatown. Its cheap and ripe.
At Kapahulu Ave you'll find a Safeway market.

Thank You Gary for the use of your condo. It was " what you see in the pictures is what you get" Just Beautiful. The condo itself is clean and had everything to make our stay pleasant.. We spent many of our early mornings and late evenings sitting on the spacious lanai taking in the beautiful ocean and city views. This was our first experience and hopefully not our last. Gary is very professonal and organized, I believe I read that in another review and it is so true. What a great location and the view from the Lanai is fabulous. The unit is as nice as the photos and perfect for our family of three. The condo is very convenient and close to everything, I just can't say enough wonderful things about this unit.
