The Hawthorne Garden Cottage is an urban space that provides a relaxed and affordable alternative to hotel living. Nestled in the historic Hawthorne arts neighborhood near downtown Portland, this quiet, light-filled, home away from home comes fully furnished to meet your every need whether you're in the city for a few days or a month or two. The Cottage is professionally designed to be aesthetically pleasing, peaceful, efficient and green and combines both comfort and practicality in it's remarkable 204 square feet. Though technically a studio (it is a one room space) with private bathroom, it is a completely separate and private stand-alone building. Regrettably, no pets. Non-smoking space. I couldn't have asked for more. Tiny, cozy, lovely, perfect. I slept like a champ and woke up with a smile.
I appreciated the privacy afforded me by my generous, kind hosts. Even though they were right on the property, I had my own little universe. I will be checking here FIRST before future visits.

We just loved the Garden Cottage – it was crisp and clean – Very stylish and modern, but still felt super cozy and warm. Clean and bright with light filled windows on a very quiet street in a very quiet peaceful yard. Great shopping and restaurants close by. Would most definitely stay again and recommend it. A small sophisticated little nest. Small but with a big sense private, cozy and welcoming.

Amazing VBRO experience!

I have stayed in 3 other VBRO properties in the cities of San Francisco and Tucson so it was a given that I went straight to VBRO when visiting Portland. This listing does not do this little gem justice. The cutest little studio cottage you are likely to find! Walking distance to amazing bookstores, coffee houses, re-sale shops, high end shops, bars and restaurants. The cottage was impeccably decorated and so comfortable! I am missing the cottage's skylights as I write this! Susan was very easy to work with and met all of our needs and then some. We will for sure be back!!!

Absolutely LOVED my stay here. Susan is amazing and this cozy little nook has all the comforts of home. Walking distance from lots of good eats and fun things to do. Highly recommend!

Gorgeous Neighborhood

Susan was a wonderful host. We thoroughly enjoyed walking the neighborhood. Such a beautiful place with all the fall leaves. The space was cozy for me and my wife. Susan provided everything, including tips on where to eat in the neighborhood. And what a wonderful neighborhood it is. So many options within walking distance. We loved it. The only sad thing was that the coffee grinder wasn't working so that we could have some of the wonderful Stumptown coffee Susan provided..but no worries we just walked to the original Stumptown cafe :). We would definitely stay here again.
