Private Paradise
When I saw photos of the pool & gazebo, I knew this was the right property. I wanted a remote island; North Caicos fit the bill. The house was near the beach, & the gazebo offered an ocean view.
Re: Home owner Kadra: She was wonderfully responsive to my emails & offered to purchase groceries for us prior to our arrival. No charge for her time. She would drive us to restaurants a couple nights. This was sounding too good to be true.
Transportation sounded complex. Kadra arranged for a cab driver to pick us up at the airport and take us to the ferry, as well as to pick us up at the North Caicos ferry dock and drive us to the rental home.
All communication with Kadra was by email. I was more than a bit anxious we’d end up on a remote island with no transportation and no place to stay, but Kadra was true to her word. Cab drivers were at the airport and ferry dock to pick us up.
The rental home was a duplex. Darville and Kadra lived in the other half and were available to help us. They provided a cell phone to use when we were there. The kitchen was stocked with the groceries we had ordered. They provided as much bottled water as we wanted. The bedrooms were spacious –beds comfortable. Soft, white bath towels, as well as colorful beach towels, awaited our use. The on-line photos accurately portrayed the house.
The pool was cleaned daily (water was a little chilly!). There was plenty of patio furniture that seemed relatively new and was comfortable. The beach was a minute’s walk away.
At first we had no hot water. We thought maybe luke-warm water was the island way. I asked about it, and a new water heater was installed the next day.
Mudjin Harbour (Middle Caicos) was a photographer’s delight. We had Horse Stable beach (North Caicos) to ourselves – there was no one in sight. The beaches and skies were a private paradise, packaged in turquoises and blues, accented with white sand and fluffy white clouds.
Silver Palms Restaurant was first class. Food was wonderful. Service was excellent. Daniel’s (Middle Caicos) was quaint and quirky with a limited menu. The food was very good.
Kadra and Darville provided great customer service without being invasive. They even invited us on a picnic with them and their friends. Darville brought me a glass of wine one evening, and Kadra brought us one of her home-cooked dishes to try. We’d like to return to North Caicos – and we’d like to stay at Ocean Breeze again.
