Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Great location for a weekend getaway or vacation. In addition to the lake we have 50 miles of hiking and biking trails, 3 lakeside golf courses, great fishing and hunting. This area is suitable year round. Summer has the advantage of warm water in the lake for water sports but the other seasons have the advantage of pleasant temperatures for all other activities.

This three bedroom log cabin is located on Lake Thurmond the largest man made lake East of the Mississippi. The cabin has full ammenities. You can launch your boat within a few blocks of the cabin and dock it in the covered dock at the cabin throughout your stay or rent our pontoon boat for only $75/day if you do not have a boat. The cabin is a beautiful two story log cabin in a wilderness setting sitting on 300 ft of shorline. It is 1500 square ft with a large wrap around deck,a 6 man hot tub built into the deck and a view that extends over several miles of lake.

Golfing privileges are availabe for several outstanding golf courses nearby, fishing within a half mile of the cabin is outstanding and there is a new 50 mile long hiking, biking, kayaking trail only a few miles away. Whether you are looking for water sports, golf, a great place for long walks or bike rides, or just a beautiful setting to relax and enjoy this is a great place to spend a week or a weekend. And for Masters fans the cabin is about a 40 minute drive from the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA.

Please keep in mind when making reservations for this cabin that it is located in a quiet residential neighborhood on the lake and is not suitable for groups of more than 8 to 10 people. For example a class reunion or family reunion would be inappropriate. There are numerous state parks nearby suitable for such gatherings.

About The Owner

My wife and I built this cabin in 1988 as a weekend/vacation get away. It has served us well with many great memories. We retired recently and purchased a larger home a mile away which is now our primary residence.

Why The Owner chose Lake Thurmond

We chose this area because it's location on Lake Thurmond is one of the best recreation areas in SC. Not only is it on the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi but the fact that only 20% of the lake is open to residential development keeps the boat traffic down making fishing and boating activities much more enjoyable. The lake is not crowded even on major holidays. We are not golfers but this location is also located near some of the nicest golf courses in SC.

What makes this cabin unique

All kinds of wildlife are viewable from the deck of the cabin. Hiking and biking in the development where the cabin is located is great but if you are a real enthusiast a new 50 mile long hiking, biking, kayaking trail has recently been completed a few miles away. Some of the best fishing on Lake Thurmond is less than half a mile from the cabin and if you are a golfer you will not find any nicer golf courses than those accessable from our cabin.

This property was exactly what we were looking for (fishing and relaxing)! The log cabin was impressive workmanship. We loved the comfort of the cabin. Having the option of renting the pantoon boat was very convenient. The hot tub was a bonus. The golf course at the state park was absolutely beautiful. We did catch enough fish for 2 dinners. We loved the lake with all it's inlets. 5 days was not enough time to discover all the area had to offer.The owner was very accomadating and helpful. We will be back!

Loved the lake!

Downstairs beds very hard
Seating in living room very uncomfortable
Jacuzzi tub too difficult to use

Recommended for:  Pet-friendly, Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: These comments are clearly a matter of personal preference and unfair as an overall statement of quality. Bed hardness is a matter of preference and soft beds are a problem for people with back trouble so yes our beds are firm by design. The living room furniture is identical to what we used personally from the time the cabin was constructed so again a matter of personal tastes and my wife who is an interior decorator finds the living room furniture well suited to a log home situation. The hot tub is built into the deck and is standard design for such an installation. The vrbo description of the cabin clearly states it is a wilderness setting and again this is not a matter of neglect but rather a matter of design. The design intent of the grounds is to be minimum upkeep. Most people appreciate these attributes but again not everyone has the same taste. Apparently this guest would have enjoyed a room at the Hilton much more but that is not what we are about.

Just spent a week at this log home....what a wonderful experience. Loved the convenience of having a dock to secure our boat. The home is quaint and had everything we needed! Would do it again in a heart beat! Made memories the kids will never forget! Thank you Jerry!

Weekend Getaway

We came and stayed the weekend for my husband's 30th birthday. Very cozy cabin, very nice relaxing time. We grilled out and enjoyed the hot tub very much, but did not stay long enough to try out a boat on the lake or try any of the other outdoor activities available. Will do next time. Friendly owner, good communication, great rates. Would definitely stay here again. A+++
