The whole experience at ' Villa Marguerita ' will be relaxing from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Island hopping, swimming, boating, fishing, walks to the several nearby waterfalls, bush walks, Bar-B-Ques on uninhabited islands, are just to name a few of the possible activities. Drinking freshly cut coconut juice or San Miguel beer, eating fresh seafood, sleeping, reading, relaxing, and walks along the beach are some other popular pastimes. Our caretakers Marilyn and Arnold are available to assist you with your needs where possible if requested. Laundry, cooking and cleaning services are available from our caretakers. You are welcome to do your own cooking or enjoy Marilyns Filipino home style cooking. You probably won't spend much time in the Villa apart from sleeping, most of your time will probably be in the entertainment area, the beach, or enjoying outside activities such as Island Hopping, kayaking, exploring the local area and Waterfalls.
How to get there: Flights from Manila to Puerto Princessa:
Palawan is a one hour domestic flight from Manila Airport. We find Cebu Pacific and Airphil Express to have the most competitive prices currently. Book in advance to receive the best prices. We usually pay around $60US each way, but this can double for late bookings.
The trip to Port Barton from Puerto Princessa is picturesque as it follows the east coast of Palawan and then weaves through the small villages that dot the countryside. You'll see a wide cross section of Filipino culture and life along this road. It's a 3 hour trip to Port Barton and Villa Marguerita. The Highway is good, little traffic and the trip goes quickly.
The last few kilometres of the road into Port Barton is being concreted and by 2016 the road should be completed. During wet season sections can be in poor condition requiring a 4x4. Most of the shuttle vans that service Port Barton handle the road without going into four wheel drive.
From Puerto Princessa to Port Barton: We can meet you at the airport and organize transport to our home or you can make your own way if you like.
Port Barton Area: Activities to entertain guests are many and have previously been mentioned. They include, paddle boats and glass bottom kayaks, Motor Bike, and Table Tennis, Island Hopping, Camping overnight on Islands, Fishing, Boating Swimming, Waterfall Hikes (several falls nearby) day trips to Underground River or to El Nido, Karaoke at night (but don't pack your disco clothes cuz there's not a lot on at night other than Fiestas and Town Dance nights mainly Ballrom and Latin) or you can safely walk the Beach or streets at night or in the afternoons you may do some bar hopping to see whats going on in the village while you enjoy the often stunning sunsets. We find getting out into the water on a boat is one of the most rewarding activities here, and the waters and islands are truly beautiful. Swimming is great to cool you off on hot days or try the shower we've attached to the coconut tree on the beach. Swimming is also great at the waterfalls…….definitely go to the waterfalls
The Palawan Region: Palawan is well known to Filipinos as being the undeveloped, unspoiled Paradise of their Country. Port Barton is located a scenic boat trip south of the well known El Nido famous for its Resorts and Magnificent Cliff Faces which plunge into its Crystal Clear waters and North of Sabang and the Famous Underground River of the Philippines. Port Barton is well known as a Holiday Destination in Palawan and from here you have access to dozens of Islands of the West Coast of Palawan. Fishing, diving, sightseeing, butterfly and bird watching, nature walks and a variety of other local activities are available to visitors such as cock fighting. Foundation day celebrations from January 28 to 30 is a great time to visit the Port Barton Area
My husband and I settled in Port Barton as we felt that this area was paradise and had the same potential as Boracay, without the crowds and overdevelopment. We have 2 beachfront homes in Port Barton Palawan, both listed in VRBO. We decided to rent the homes to help cover the costs of maintenance and to share the charm and beauty of this area. The feeling we have every time we arrive here is exciting. The home is simple but it's the freedom and peace we feel here. Cruising through the islands, swimming on our own beach and enjoying this very special place. I'm sure you'll feel what we feel.
Michelle Ignacio purchased this villa in 1997
My husband first visited Boracay 25 years ago before we found Port Barton. We both felt that Port Barton had the same potential as Boracay so I bought a Beach front lot there. Over the next few years we built the home and entertainment area and caretakers cottage. We love the home feel part of the community here. We hope you will also feel part of the community.
Villa Marguerita and our other home Gilligans are unique in Port Barton as they are the only beachfront homes available for rent in Port Barton. The grounds are large ( 3000 sq. metres with a 50 metre beach frontage overlooking clean white sands and Port Barton bay and islands ) with some pretty gardens, several beachfront bar/entertainment/cabana areas to relax in and watch the sometimes magnificent sunsets out to the south China Sea. Our home is available for private rental only which includes exclusive use of the property excluding the caretakers cottage, so you won't be sharing the home with anyone else. This is the only home to boast 24 hours lights, fans and refrigeration as we use around 14 solar panels to power the home. Port Barton town power only runs from 5pm to 11pm, so everywhere else closes at 11. Our beer is definitely the coldest in town without a doubt, something very important to many people. Ours is the only home that can accommodate large groups as we have a commercial sized kitchen and an experienced cook that knows the meals to prepare for foreigners. Ideally the 3 bedroom home sleeps 6 however we can cater for larger groups. 8 is the maximum that our caretakers are happy to accept now. Exceptions are sometimes made, but for larger groups we recommend that some guests stay at the neighbouring resort Summerhomes. Our large kitchen can feed hundreds as we sometimes do when we invite local children for our legendary Christmas parties.
Our home is situated beachfront in Port Barton Palawan which is a little south of San Vicente the local government centre. Port Barton is north of the Underground River and south of El Nido. Port Barton is a 3 hour drive from Puerto Princessa, the capital city of Palawan, known as the last frontier of the Philippines.
Our home is situated in a marine park area. Boating, island hopping and trips to the several waterfalls nearby are some popular activities. Trips to the Underground River and El Nido can be organised by our staff.
Other Activities: Paddle Boating and Kayaking. Island Hopping, snorkelling, diving.
