Casa de Azucar (House of Sugar) is a brand new house right on the beach in Rio Indio/Majahual. The house is set up perfectly for a family to stay on their own private beach. The 2nd floor has a master suite and a bunk bed room. So a family can all stay on the 2nd floor with the kitchen and a great deck to eat breakfast or dinner as you take in the view of the ocean. If you have more people in your party, the house has 2 additional bedrooms on the ground level each with their own queen bed, with private access to the beach. The house is ideal for 1 or 2 families to enjoy a Mexico beach vacation.
The beach house is a private home located 6 miles north of Majahual – considered the number one cruise ship destination in Mexico during 2007.
The beaches are powder white sand protected by a coral reef just 250 yards off shore. Ideal for swimming and sun bathing. Area is known for world class snorkeling and diving. The reef in front of the property has a large number of beautiful coral heads if you take the time to find them. Snorkeling and dive trips also available in nearby Majahual. Many restaurants and shops are available with more every day. Diving and fishing tours are available.
The home itself is fully self contained with solar electric, gas stove and hot water. Drinking water is bottled and supplied with the house. The house includes maid service and linens. This is a new privately owned house available for the 1st time in the winter of 2010-11. The interior consists of a lovely open contemporary Mexican design with festive tile and native wood throughout the home. In addition, a roof top deck with 360 degrees views of the ocean and lagoons. There is no better place to watch the sunrise or sunset with coffee or a cocktail in hand.
You will find the perfect combination of activities native to the land with the relaxation of your own private home and beach. Great for families or a few families to spend time together on the beach. Please feel free to email or call me with any questions about the property. Also make sure that you check out the photos - the place is visually stunning.

The Evans Family lives in Denver, Colorado and were married in Playa Del Carmen in 2001. We have always loved Mexico and are finally proud to share our own private beach house with other people.
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
We have always wanted a beautiful and remote beach house in Mexico. This house allows us all of the privacy we could ever want, with a growing and vibrant city less than 10 miles away. This part of Mexico is truly untouched and will amaze anyone who sees it.
You will be in a remote location where your family and your family alone can enjoy your own private beach, snorkel right off the beach, fish the ocean or the lagoon behind the house.
My wife, three kids and I stayed at Casa Azucar in July 2014. The house was perfect. We had the beach to ourselves for all four days! This beach was gorgeous. We snorkled, shell hunted and relaxed in the cooling breezes of the Caribbean. Marcia was a great help. She drew a map of town indicating where we could find all of our provisions for some excellent meals. We took an hour drive to Chaccobean to visit this ancient site. We were the only ones there for over two hours, truly magical.
I would reccomend this house to anyone looking for a perfect getaway. I just wish I was still there.
You are totally off the grid as you turn onto the road to the house. It is rough and right along the ocean, but when you arrive at the house it was worth the adventurer. The house is 53 feet from the waters edge, and you will hear the waves all day long. The neighbors are very kind and helpful. Furthermore the age of our group ranged from eleven to eighty and we all enjoyed it. We enjoyed the meals at Marcia's and the town Mahahual, and sight seeing around. A car is recommended to get to this paradise. Thank you very much Aaron.
Casa Azucar was just what we needed to get away from our cold Canadian winter for a month~ It was VERY hard to leave this place~~The photos do not do this home justice~~ It is gorgeous, the moulded cement frames and counter tops, as well as the gorgeous wood furniture pieces everywhere were pure craftsmanship~ The view and close proximity to the ocean was breathtaking every day, we had incredible weather, and the sunsets from the top level over the laguna were so beautiful.... I miss that time of the evening so much! We enjoyed the surrounding areas, ruins, & small towns....The snorkelling close to the house is pretty good, and between us, we saw a giant sea turtle, a few manta rays, many colourful fish, as well as squid, lionfish and barracuda~~ We came out by bus and taxi, but if you are staying for longer than a few days, i would recommend renting a vehicle, as there is much to see in the area, and it is quite isolated without wheels~~ For 2 weeks of our stay , our whole family of 9 was here and there was plenty of room for us all~~ The owner was fantastic to deal with, and the property and home are well maintained....Our hosts Marcia & Kim at Mayan Beach Garden, were very helpful and always available if we needed anything during our stay. Thankyou for letting us stay at Casa Azucar!
Casa Azucar was everything the listing said. Perfect for our family with two sons, age 19 and 22. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed.
Loved Mahajual, a sleepy beach town where the locals enjoyed "their" beach and town. Dive Dr. took great care of the boys as they got their PADI certification.
Everyone from town to the neighbors along the beach road were welcoming and friendly. Marcia, the caretaker from Mayan Beach Gardens, further up the beach, was very helpful and made sure we were comfortably settled in. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Mayan Beach Gardens one night where Marcia gave us wonderful tips for exploring other parts of the Yucatan during the remainder of our trip.
LOVED the sunrises and sunsets, beach right out the door, sea kayaking in the lagoon and ocean, snorkeling right off the beach, shelling along the beach seeing almost no one else, birdwatching, and we even sighted a Tayra!! (google it). It was like having your own deserted beach! Perfect for us nature lovers who don't want the glitz and "fake" Mexican resorts.
Wow! My girlfriend and I spent a week at the house this past spring. We were looking for a mix of chill, beach, sun, a bit of work, and solitude. It had everything and then some. Plan on waking up early to the most amazing sunrises- Go for a run, ocean dip, breakfast on the rooftop patio, and start your day in heaven. We did some kayaking, paddle boarding ( tried!) and swam a few times a day. We went into town on a few occasions to get a taste for the local flavor. We found our " local" spot with ease and ended up getting to know the owners. Everyone is so friendly and spirited. The house itself is great for just a couple, or I can see how families would love it. I enjoyed actually cooking for my GF in the big kitchen, while we danced and played tunes from the vast music collection. The owners and property managers were always available and made sure we had everything we needed to soak up our stay. If I had to do it again, I'd work on my balance for the boards and stay a lot longer! Hope to come back again soon. Gracias!
We stayed at Casa Azucar for 10 days in Jan/Feb and loved it. There were two families who shared the house and it worked perfectly. Our two girls loved it (age 3 and 4) and two babies (7 months both) as well. The house was perfectly equipped, right on the beach and well taken care of. We loved the grocery truck that came on Thursdays and Sundays and so did the kids. The only complaint was that the crazy winds caused a lot of seaweed and trash to wash up on the beach. However, the owners arranged for the care taker to sweep the beach every day. Due to the weather, the waves were a bit stronger than we thought. But, it didn't slow us down and we enjoyed every second of it. I would definitely return and recommend to anyone with small children as a great place to stay. They even had a Pack and Play and a highchair, which would have been a pain to lug all the way down there. Thanks again! We loved it and will be back again.
