Overview

Big Pine Key House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

Tiki Beach features a 3 bedroom, 2 bath bungalow located on the Gulf side of the island of Big Pine Key. The property has 150 ft of open water frontage and a private lighted dock that allows for a boat with up to a 3 foot draft at average tide levels. Water supply on dock for cleaning boats and lighted fish cleaning table. Breath-taking sunrises, almost an acre and a half of lighted landscaped trails including an avairy with two parrots that talk and sing. Tiki Beach typically has easterly prevailing breezes off of the ocean, making it cooler in the summer. Great fishing on Bogie Channel on Gulf side with quick access to the Atlantic Ocean (Spanish Harbor bridge min. clearance 16.60 feet). After a day of boating, relax by the heated pool or spa or at one of three lighted tiki huts on the beach. Our property frontage is typically subject to a seasonal influx of weeds from the Atlantic which are kept at bay by weed fence off the dock.

BOAT LIFT IS NOT FOR GUEST USE.

FOR LARGE groups this property is directly adjacent to CASA DOMINGI # 996590 Homeway.com. We also have a great hideaway in Key West, Tiki Beach Too, if Tiki beach is rented during the week you wish to stay in the keys.

Keywords: house, bungalow, private, secluded lighted trails, spacious, heated pool, great boating access, private dock, hot tub, tiki bar, 3 lighted chickee huts, open water, pet friendy, beach hammock, key deer

Three weeks in paradise.

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned following a three week stay in paradise (Tiki Beach at Big Pine Key). We had a wonderful time and totally enjoyed the accommodations and facilities. It was pure heaven sitting on the beach or sitting by the pool. Relative to other reviews indicating that the pictures did not do the property justice, I think the pictures are all accurate, however what they don't convey is the wonder feel of the place. It is truly enchanting and provides an authentic old keys experience. Stanley, our high energy labradoodle, had the time of his life exploring the grounds and visiting with his new parrot friends. Mark my word, if we win the big lottery, we will be down to offer an outrageous amount of money for the property because it would be worth it. Thanks.

A bit mixed

  • 3 of 5

First the good stuff: A gorgeous pool and pool area that seemed to have been recently redone. Beautiful view of Spanish Harbor and the morning sunrise. Plenty of little Key deer around. A long beautiful dock. Plenty of outdoor seating. House is well stocked with books and interesting bits of Keys history. Kitchen was well stocked.

The Less than Good. A few kitchen issues-the coffee pot was filled with old coffee when we arrived-yech. Although a generally well equipped kitchen there was no kettle-which we found odd since it is not something we've every encountered in a rental. Kettles tend to be basic equipment. The kitchen is 'tired'. The doors don't match and are all a little crooked. However everything worked. The bbqs were filthy but they did work. The living room area is odd-the sectional couch is extremely uncomfortable unless you are on the pieces that extend out. The couch is very distant from the tv and the viewing angle is odd. Really only relevant if you have a rainy day or two which we did. The windows haven't been opened in years so when you are inside you are forced to have the air conditioning on. This is probably because even with screens the 'no see us' would get in. And the no see ems were ferocious during our stay. Since we were unaware of these bugs (not being from the area )we didn't use bug repellant and paid a price. The bites don't really show up for a day or two after you've been bitten-then they are really uncomfortable.

Other stuff. If you are going to Bahai Honda beach make sure you check the tide tables and go at low tide as at high tide there is really not much of a beach. Bike rentals and kayak rentals service on the key are helpful and reliable.

Overall for the price (which was steep over the Christmas holiday)I thought this property was just ok in comparison to other properties we have stayed at. Perhaps if we were fishing people we would feel differently. I think that this is the main attraction for the property.

Owner's Response: Wow! Sure wish there was something we could have done to improve your stay. Sorry to see the coffee that got left from that morning made everything look under cared for. We will be very happy to stock a kettle for future guests. We would have been happy to come by to clean the grill again, some folks like it "seasoned". Wish we would have emphasized the no-see-um's that are indigenous to the Florida Keys. It is delightful to open those huge windows when there is a strong breeze and it is not sunrise or sunset, (the no-see-um "happy hour"!) We understand that our kitchen not modern, we prefer to think of the whole house as a bungalow in the "old keys" style. Most of all we regret that you did not think Tiki beach was worth the price. The Christmas week price is really only a few hundred dollars more that the price we rent Tiki at all year long. It can be more economical for groups of 8 to 10 folks. Thank you for your honest opinion, we want folks to enjoy Tiki Beach as much as we do and we will continue to try to improve our property based on your recommendations.

Awesome!

This house was more than you're average rental....this is the complete package! All of the other reviews are totally correct that the pictures do not do it justice, this place is incredible. We had a group of 6 and we all had our own personal space when we wanted it. Some people would be fishing on the dock, others swimming in the pool/hot tub, and others simply sitting on the screened in porch. There was not one moment where we felt cramped. The sunrises are incredible and most of the time you are pinching yourself with the beauty that surrounds you. The kitchen has everything you need, with the gas and charcoal grills being the perfect companion. We barely explored the rest of the Big Pine Key because we honestly did not want to leave the property. Cindy was very nice and answered every email with our questions about the property. We all agreed that Tiki Beach is paradise in the keys.....and we will be sure to visit again!

WOW!

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned from our stay at Tiki Beach and it was an awesome experience from beginning to end. Cindy was a pleasure to deal with, even with the many questions I had, and the property was perfect for our group. Being on the bay was such easy access to deep sea fishing and snorkeling/diving at Looe Key reef. The view in the evening is so fantastic, we had no reason to go anywhere else. The pool and hot-tub were also a great way to end our days. We will be returning to this fantastic find in the future. Thanks Cindy!

Great house on the water

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a recent anniversary here. The pictures do not do it justice. We loved using the pool and the hot tub. My husband enjoyed having his own pier to fish. Our favorite was the screened in porch. We ate all our meals on the porch and enjoyed just relaxing there. It has a lovely view of the water. We have tried during numerous trips to the Keys to see Key Deer, and saw one the first evening and many after that in the yard and close by. There were several extras we enjoyed like the bait freezer and stereo system outside by the pool. All the property is landscaped and decorated nicely. The owner was very helpful in addressing any questions we had. We will definitely be back!

What a great place for a wedding and week long celebration!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented both this property and Casa next door to play host to our wedding and week long celebration. What an incredible time. Cindy was too kind and left us a very nice bottle of champagne for our arrival! The house was very clean and ready for us and our guests. This property has everything you could ask for. The landscaping is great, we enjoyed seeing Key Deer pass through, visiting the parrots, and letting our dog roam and sniff all over. The pool, Tiki Bar, and grotto played host many afternoon and evening. The Tiki Bar is set up with a radio and mini fridge that were used almost continuously! When not poolside, we sat in the screened in porch and enjoyed being outside yet protected from the mosquitos and no see ums. Mornings on the beach in either the hammock or lounge chairs couldn't be beat...coffee, shade of the palm trees, breeze blowing in off the water...great place for a nap! The layout inside of the house worked wonderfully as well. The open kitchen and living room with views to the water is where everyone gathered most evenings for dinner and drinks. The large kitchen island provided a perfect place for it! With a full house we felt there were ample towels, linens, etc. Cindy was available for questions and was very helpful throughout the whole process. We would recommend this house without hesitation. We hope to be back and enjoy some wedding anniversaries in the future! The location is great too, most places in The Keys require a longer drive to get necessities. There is a Winn Dixie 5 mins away, Springers bar and restaurant is right around the corner, No Name Pub is up the road. Bahia Honda Park is a quick drive and was a great beach day! You're also about 40mins from Key West which is close enough to easily make a day trip, enjoy Duval, The Southernmost Collection, Butterfly Museum, and Mallory Square! We look forward to returning soon, we love The Keys and we love this house!
