The Cottage:
There are exposed oak beams in every room of the cottage. The original inglenook has been restored and there is a further fireplace in the dining room. The cottage has gas central heating and is warm and cosy. The roof is straw thatch. There is a private garden where children can play safely and adults can relax on a sunny day. There is a large summer-house in the garden. No smoking is permitted in the cottage.
The Village:
A convenience store and a pub (with dining facilities) are both within a few steps of the cottage. Shelford High Street, with a variety of shops and banking facilities, is within a five minute walk, and the railway station is within a ten minute walk. There is a recreation ground nearby that has large play equipment (swings, slides etc.) and where ball games can be played and kites flown.
Cambridge and the surrounding area:
Historic Cambridge is just 3 miles away, where you can visit the university college's, take a punt along the Backs of the college's, or explore the busy market place.
The City of Ely (Ely Cathedral), The Duxford Air Museum, Newmarket Races and the pretty town of Saffron Walden are all within half an hours drive of the cottage.
London may be reached by rail within an hour from Cambridge or Shelford station, and within an hour and a half by road.
