I DO HAVE AN OPEN FLOOR PLAN. The reason I am stating this is that my wife (far better-half) are avid House Hunters fans We especially like House Hunters International and are contemplating purchasing a vacation property in Europe.

Last night we saw a show in which the husband DID NOT want an open floor plan. This is one of few times that this has happened & I thought WTH. His reason was that his kids were too noisy - very interesting.

Anyway, when I saw that - I realized that both of Mammoth condos have that and that is one of the many things we love about our 'home away from home' condo. We DO NOT have it at home and it is in our GRAND REMODEL SOME DAY MUST-HAVE list.

VRBO = Vacation Rental By OWNER. Have you noticed how many of these listings are NOT by OWNER? I own this condo (and another larger condo in the same complex) so you will ACTUALLY be dealing with the OWNER. Also, many condos listed by 'owner' are listed by an owner but you don't deal with them - you deal with a property manager.

In addition to being SPOILED by the 3 L’s (location, location, location) you will also SPOILED by the inside of my beautiful “home away from home”.

My family is lucky enough to own 2 Mammoth condos. If owning 2 Mammoth vacation condo does not show that my family is CRAZY about Mammoth - then nothing will.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me about all things Mammoth even if you don't want to stay in my condo. I can be a great resource for you upcoming trip to The 2nd Happiest Place on Earth. Mammoth has a ton of LE$$ expensive places to stay than my condo BUT if you want great VALUE for your hard-earned $$$ - then this is the place for you. In addition to having a beautiful condo on the inside (thanks to my wonderful Martha Stewart like wife), we also have location, location, location. If you want a low-cost place to stay, Mammoth does have a Motel-6 in town (760) 934-6660.

Why stay in my “home away from home?”

Time = $$$$$

I know your vacation time is limited and you have other choices on where to stay. My wife & I own two Mammoth vacation condos (both on the same complex). Before we purchased our first condo – we stayed all over Mammoth – from Motel 6 and Travel Lodge to a dozen different condos.

What I can offer you and is a great value! My family uses this condo often so it is set up as our VACATION home - not set up as a RENTAL. In addition, we have lots of friends & co-workers that stay in our condo. Mammoth has tons of outdated & dingy condos with OLD furniture & OLD kitchens - this is NOT one of those condos! When I read the adjectives that people use to describe their Vacation Condos & then we actually stayed in these condos – many times there is a HUGE disconnect between what they say and reality.

You will NOT find any deer antlers or 70's wood paneling. We enjoy sharing our 'home away from home' with people that will treat it as their own. You can definitely find a less expensive condos, however if you want great value for your hard earned $$$, then this is your place.

Rent directly from the owner (me) and not a 3rd party. Notice how many ads are from 3rd parties? I do own another beautiful 2+2 condo in this same complex that sleeps 6. My other condo is great for 2 small families or for bringing in-laws. If you need a larger condo act me about this one. If owning 2 Mammoth vacation condos does not show that my family is CRAZY about Mammoth – then nothing will!

Why stay in my condo?

I know your vacation time is limited, so if you would like to stay in a clean & classy, warm & cozy condo - then this condo is for you. My family uses this Condo often so it is set up as our VACATION home - not set up as a RENTAL. You will NOT find any deer antlers or 70's wood paneling. We enjoy sharing our 'home away from home' with people that will treat it as their own. You can definitely find less expensive Condos, however if you want great value for your hard earned $$$, then this is your place.

Mammoth has tons of outdated & dingy condos with OLD furniture & OLD kitchens - this is NOT one of those condos! When I read the adjectives that people use to describe their Vacation Condos & then I view their photos - THERE IS A HUGE DISCONNECT between what they say and reality.

This condo is good sized (by Mammoth standards) for a 1bed/bath - approx. 750sq ft. Condo has underground parking & free Wi-Fi. Condo has 1 King Bed & bunk beds behind dining area (see photo), a very comfortable sofa with settee, large stone fireplace, balcony, fully equipped kitchen.

Customer Service:

If I take good care of my customers then they will take care of me -and they have!! Many guests stay every year and many stay several times each year. Some guests even stay in the Condo more than we do! I had a family from Tahiti that stayed in the Condo for 10 days, and then returned the next year for 15 days! I have many guests from out-of state; including Hawaii, Indiana (of all places), New York, Quebec, Mexico City and England.

Games - I always try to keep the games fresh (just spent over $100 to add or replace games). If I can keep your children happy & occupied - I will keep you happy. I have numerous books, magazines and games for Kids and Adults

My wife & son (Rhett) love Mammoth (and Ice Cream too!). It is our 'home away from home.' Rhett boarded his first Black Diamond run at age 6 1/2 and has boarded Cornice.

My wife has decorated the condo, made the drapes, etc. Thank-goodness for that because I can't draw a straight line with a ruler or match my own clothes.

When it comes to vacations - I am an 'A' type person. I must know know as much of the Lay-of-the-Land as possible before arrival. Contact me and I will give you all of the inside scoops and must see places before arrival. If you just want to RELAX and DO NOTHING, that is fine too.

We own 2 Mammoth vacation condos (in the same complex) - if that does not show that we are CRAZY about Mammoth - then nothing will! I truly enjoy sharing my Mammoth info with others.

The reason is simple - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. We get completely SPOILED by this LOCATION. We are ONLY 117 yards from the nearest lift & ONLY 210 yards from a full-service Lodge.

The forest in right outside the front door. We have 2 HUGE OUTDOOR jacuzzis (outdoor jacuzzis were a must have when we purchased this condo). In summer we have a heated pool.

Underground parking was a big MUST HAVE because of the MASSIVE amounts of snow Mammoth gets (about 350 inches a year!) I also like the bike room & having a restaurant so close you can hit it with a snowball (literally).

What makes this condo unique

King bed AND a nice, solid set of bunk beds is great to have in a 1-bedroom. My condo is good-sized by Mammoth standards for a 1-bed (750 sq. ft.). Many Mammoth 1-bed condos are 500-600 sq. ft.

We are only about 210 yards from a FULL-SERVICE lodge (Canyon Lodge) which has a FREE gondola that you can take to the Village. The gondola ride is beautiful and takes 4 min, 10 seconds. Also for good measure, there is a bar/restaurant right across the street - so close that you could hit it with a SNOWBALL.

The lodge has lift tickets, lessons, restaurants, bars, shops & rentals.

I am the owner of this condo - my "home away from home." At the bottom of this post I am posting EXACTLY what my guest sent to me via email. This guest is from England and booked my condo way back in September, 2014 and she is staying in April, 2015.



I try really hard to provide ALL of my guests with ALL kinds of (hopefully) GREAT Mammoth info. Did you know that Mammoth has great things to see & do in the dead of winter (in addition to skiing/boarding)? You can go and see an AWESOME Ghost Town or go inner tubing or dog sledding and much much more!



I know that 99% of you have very limited vacation time & I want to help you to make the most of your Mammoth Memories with that time. I encourage all of my guests to contact me via phone, text and email. I have had guests call me while they were in a Gondola on Mammoth Mountain and guests call me from remote parts around Mammoth where I didn't even know there was cell phone coverage. Since this guest is coming from England (5,200 miles away!) - I helped her with planning other parts of her United States vacation.



I will help you whether you are from Los Angeles or Las Vegas....Tahiti or Timbuktu. I actually have had guests from Tahiti that stayed for 10 days, two years in a row BUT I have never had a guest from Timbuktu (yet).

I love these ideas so far and we will definitely go and see the ones we can access. I had realised with a bit of research that the Tioga pass is likely to be closed when we are there.



Where would you suggest we visit on our way back over to San Francisco? Do you have a favourite area to explore? We leave Mammoth on the 7th April and fly home from SF on the 11th.

Fantastic Time in Mammoth

Our recent stay here was awesome! We booked the one bedroom and it was perfect for our family. The condo was very well equipped, conveniently located for snowboarding at the base of Canyon Lodge and John was extremely helpful and had lots of great suggestions for Mammoth activities. we will most certainly stay again. Thank you sir!

Exactly as Advertised

John's one-bedroom unit is exactly as described: spacious, clean, comfortable, nicely furnished, and equipped with everything we needed for a five-day stay. Better yet, we could put on our boots, shoulder our skis, and walk 100 yards to the closest lift, which allowed us to ski in for lunch. We finished each day with an adult beverage in one of the hot tubs, and we cooked every meal in the unit, which saved lots of restaurant money. The 50-inch flat-screen TV was a bonus, though we were usually too tired to watch anything past 9 p.m.

I have just one small complaint: John, please replace that annoying needle-spray water-saving shower head with a normal shower head.

We'll be booking this unit again for future trips to Mammoth.

Owner's Response: The shower head suggestion is excellent and I will not only change it in this condo BUT I will also check my other condo that own in this same complex. If it is also low-flow, I will change that one too.

Great Location and Amenities

This is our second stay at this "Home Away from Home" condo and we've had a great experience both times. We are a summer mountain family. The grounds are very pretty with two spas and a pool. This condo is close to the the Village for tons of summer activities and events. The Trolley Car will pick you up or you could walk to it in 15 minutes. The unit is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, games, extra blankets, pillows etc. If there is ever a concern, the owner is easy to reach and has a good staff that will take care of you! If you love to ski this condo is awesome because is right next to the ski slopes!!! Also, Austria Hoff is across the street and they have a great Happy Hour menu and fantastic restaurant food. Don't forget to try Taco Tuesday if you're there. Overall and great rental experience.

Owner's Response: This guest mentions that my condo is close to the VIllage (which is about 1.0 miles away). BUT, please note that in "Winter" you one of the BEST things about my fantastic location is the fact that you can go to Canyon Lodge (about 220 yards away) and take a FREE Gondola to & from the Village. Due to this awesome convenience I have some guests (mostly from out of the country) that stay at my condo WITHOUT a car. This FREE Gondola runs from about mid-December to mid or late April.

Great Location

First thing I need to say John, you were not kidding when you said Location location location about your place!!!!! My husband, my 11 year old son and I got there Friday evening for a mini vacation and were awed by the cleanliness, location and the beautifully decorated condo. We got the 1 bedroom one which is just perfect for our family of 3. We also loved the underground parking which will be great during in the snow season. We went hiking to Devils post pile and Rainbow falls. I wish I could post pictures so you can see the beauty of the waterfall and the color of the trees!!!!! We ate at Angel's on the main road, my husband's favorite, then came back to the condo and went in the Jacuzzi, my muscles needed it so badly. We also used the sauna, just like John explained in his instructions. He had tips and phone numbers for everything that goes on in Mammoth. Sunday, we took a drive to South Lake Tahoe and had lunch there, about 2 1/2 hour drive from the condo. Our stay was a bit short but sweet, and we are already thinking of coming back for thanksgiving hopefully for some skiing. The condo being so close to Canyon lodge is so convenient for skiers and yet so close to town for shoppers!!!!! This place is great for a family of 4, I recommend it highly year round, but if I come with friends or more family members, John has a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo in the same complex that I checked out, I would rent that one out. Thanks for a wonderful week end John, we had and awesome time!!!!!!!!!!!!

HUGE (approx. 750 sq. ft.) 1-BR by Mammoth standards. When looking at other 1-BRs, check their square footage - many are around 600 sq. ft. Awesome 'feature' - my condo is only 200 Yards to Lodge where you can ride a Free Gondola to Village (heated walkways, shops bars, restaurants, Starbucks, Chocolate Factory). Once you park at my condo, you DO NOT have to use your car again. If you do have to use your car (to go to the supermarket), my underground parking is great when Mammoth snows (which is OFTEN) - you won't have to dig out your car because it remains 'warm & toasty.' This condo shows pride of ownership. We are constantly updating it. We just added a very high quality flat screen TV with Netflix built in. We also brought tons of new games and 'refreshed' some old ones.
