Seabrook Island House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms (including private study), 3.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps up to 12

Our 3 bedroom + private study, 3.5 bath home is surrounded on two sides by a lagoon on beautiful Seabrook Island. Amenities include a 5 person hot tub, ping pong table, canoe and kayak. Key features include a huge gourmet kitchen, great room with vaulted ceiling, 2 screened porches, deck with BGE BarBQ grill, 55' flat screen HDTV, complementary access to all the facilities of the Seabrook Island Club and access to two of the most pristine, uncrowded beaches on the East Coast.

Seabrook is a private gated community dedicated to maintaining the natural beauty of its live oak and pine canopies, quiet lagoons, tidal marshes and creeks, and pristine dunes and beaches. Yet it is also a premier resort offering two championship golf courses, world class tennis center, equestrian center and private club with dining, fitness and pool facility. A popular activity with the locals is cycling which is both scenic and safe on Seabrook Island.

Vacation theme:: Our favorite activities are biking along the quiet, well maintained streets circling and crossing the island and either walking or biking along the pristine beaches to watch the dolphins play off shore.

If you are looking for a quiet, but active vacation with your family or friends, this is the rental home for you. The home is new (finished the fall of 2006) and its design was inspired by the noted Southern Living architect, William Poole. With over 3200 square feet of living space plus an additional 1000 square feet of verandas, screened porches and decks, there is ample room for a large family or two smaller families or a number of friends vacationing together.

Description of house:: The spacious great room with its stone fireplace, 55' flat screen HDTV with premium Comcast cable TV/DVR service plus BlueRay DVD. The hickory shelving opens to the loft above and the open deck overlooking the lagoon where the Big Green Egg is located. On each side of the deck is a large screened porch. The east porch provides an outdoor dining option and the west porch houses the hot tub.Below this porch is the outdoor shower. Off the great room is the kitchen/dining area.

The kitchen is stunning - granite countertops, hickory cabinetry, DCS 5 burner gas cooktop, convection oven, convection microwave, over size refrigerator with front ice and filtered water dispensers, wine cooler, large double sink, etc. The peninsula and island with its prep sink provide extra work and seating space. The first floor master suite has bedroom with a king bed, a bath with heated floors, double vanity and large shower with dual heads, and walk-in closet. In addition there is a small ancillary bedroom and large connected laundry room.

Upstairs, the east bedroom has a queen bed, huge walk-in closet and private two head shower bath. The large west bedroom has three single beds and one set of bunkbeds. The bedroom has private access to the adjoining bath. The private study has a queen size pullout bed with both memory foam and air mattresses. The west bathroom can also be accessed directly from the loft.

Amenities and equipment available:: Our rental guests have access to all the amenities of the private Seabrook Island Club which includes two championship golf courses (one designed by Robert Trent Jones), 15 Har-Tru tennis courts, equestrian center, fitness center, Beach Club, pools and dining facilities via a complementary amenity card. There is also access to the nearby newly renovated crabbing dock, trails, quiet streets and pristine beaches. Our rental guests also have access to the spectacular new lake side community center with its heated indoor/outdoor pool and extensive fitness facility.

We provide our rental guests with a kayak and a canoe which can be paddled in the adjacent lagoon. Sail and power boats and kayaks can be rented at the nearby Bohicket Marina. A full size ping pong table, paddles and balls are available to our guests in the lower level. Bikes can be rented at reasonable cost and delivered to your door. Golf packages saving you 20% are available upon request. An exercycle is also available.

We provide a beach cart to carry you gear over the ramps crossing the dunes. A wide variety of beach toys including boogie boards, crab nets, beach umbrellas and chairs are also available to our guests.

A 15% discount is available for the end of this summer. We are also offering a 10% fall discount. Larger discounts for multi week or month stays are also available -check with the owner.

About Jack Hunt

Our Seabrook Island home was custom designed and built in 2006 to accommodate our extended family shown above, yet it is comfortable for just one couple. Very flexible sleeping arrangements in five private rooms and 9 beds for up to 12 people are available. Living, cooking and dining facilities are commensurate. The kitchen was custom designed by the owner who is passionate about cooking and attended a week's boot camp at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA).

Jack Hunt purchased this house in 2006

Why Jack Hunt chose Seabrook Island

My wife and I first visited Seabrook Thanksgiving, 1982, with three other couples on a holiday getaway from the onset of winter in Delaware. What a wonderful vacation! We all played tennis, golf, road horses, walked the beaches and dined in the Island House while enjoying the perfect weather. Of course, we all immediately fell in love with the island and revisited it a number of times. Almost twenty years after our first visit and after looking at resorts all along the Southeast Coast, we bought a lot on Seabrook Island Road in 2001 and built our Seabrook Island home in 2006. Today three of the four original couples who first vacationed there in 1982, own a home in Seabrook or nearby Kiowa.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy taking our morning coffee on the east screened porch with the morning sun and views of the wooded landscape and adjacent lagoon. We are often entertained by the numerous birds and squirrels in the trees and occasional deer running through the yard.

One of my hobbies is cooking which I enjoy in the kitchen I designed. The key feature is the 5 burner DCS cooktop. I also enjoy grilling on the Big Green Egg on the deck. I extended the roof overhang to 4 feet to protect the grilling area from rain. My wife enjoys baking in the convection oven. We have a new combination microwave convection oven. I admit that I have not yet used the convection feature, but it will surely be useful when preparing holiday dinners for large crowds.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This guest sent us this note today: "We just wanted to let you know how much our family enjoyed our stay at your house in Seabrook Island. It was so nice to have such a beautiful place to bring everyone together. It was hard to leave that Saturday to come home. Easily could have stayed longer. We have been very busy since getting home and haven't had an opportunity to email you or put a review out but will be writing a review very soon. Thank you again for the use of your lovely home."

They also wrote: "I believe that we left everything in good shape and hope that it was satisfactory to you. With that being said, when can we expect our deposit back from you? Again, thank you so much for your hospitality and we will definitely want to stay there again."

They were evidently pleased and indicated they would be interesting in returning. We certainly hope so. They also indicated they left the house in good shape and wondered when their deposit would be returned. We do appreciate guests who leave the house in good shape and the great majority do so. Their deposit refund plus interest and those of two other guests were mailed later in the day. We were on vacation for two weeks staying the last week at a very nice VRBO rental in Ontario and as a result we did get a little behind. However, the interest paid did cover the two week delay in returning the refund.

The Creech pack gives a 4 Paws Up!!!!

Me & my hubby recently stayed for the 2nd time with our pets at Jack Hunt's vacation home. We love the vacation rental home and it's great layout with the chef's kitchen and living room area which goes out to 3 porches. Two of them are screened which our dogs really enjoyed. The beds are comfortable and bathrooms have large showers and there's a tub upstairs. We really enjoyed being close to the crabbing dock and also having the house backing up to the lagoon. Jack even has a kayak and canoe for you to use. It's mid island location is great if you are a bike rider too. We saw a lot of wildlife. The kitchen is well equipped if your a cook and they everything you'll need to prepare meals. The Green Egg grill is great and there's also a hot tub too! Jack is so helpful and responsive and answered all of our questions. We will definitely be back! KoKo, Etta, Josie & Willie give a 4 Paws up!!!

Couldn't ask for much more in a vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

My siblings, their families and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving on Seabrook Island. This house was perfect for us to enjoy time together hanging out in the kitchen, playing cards and board games, paddling in the lagoon, and competing in our own ping pong tournament. There was enough space for us to have several activities going at one time.

We also enjoyed the workout facilities and outdoor basketball court offered by the resort. The house is a short drive to the beach and the beach was a great location for our football game.

Everyone we encountered on the Island was very friendly and helpful. When we look for another vacation rental in the Charleston area, the first house on our list will be this one!

My communication with the owner(s) of this property couldn't have been better. All of my questions were answered (I had many), and I was given lots of suggestions for activities. They were extremely helpful in every way.

Even if the house wasn't as great as it was for us, I would return simply because the owners were so easy to work and communicate with. The amenities of the house, combined with the owners' willingness to help, made our Thanksgiving away from home nearly perfect!

We regretted not bringing our bicycles (weekly rentals are available) and not having more time to enjoy the Island.

Owner's Response: Susan, Thanks for the kind words in your review. The rapport we developed via exchange of many emails makes the rental experience better for both the guest and the owner as you indicated. I receive notices from the Club, POA and local merchants which I am happy to forward to my guests so that they can take advantage of all the activities on the Island. The one regret that you did mention was not bringing your bicycles. This merits more discussion. Cycling is our favorite activity on Seabrook Island and we encourage all of our guests to take advantage of this opportunity. We bike every day when we are here. It is both safe and scenic and the Islands (Seabrook Island and nearby Kiowah Island) are scaled perfectly for family biking. When we first started renting our our home in 2007 we supplied bikes, but long distance maintenance became increasingly difficult and expensive. Fortunately, there are a number of providers who rent bikes at modest cost - about $35 to $40 per bike per week including delivery and pickup. Again thanks for the excellent review and we do hope you will return soon, Jack

My family and I recently returned from our 4th stay at Seabrook Island. This is, by far, the best place we have rented. The property was well appointed and maintaned. After a long day at the pool and beach the hot tub was a welcomed joy. We also enjoyed the use of the canoe and kayak. A great place for teenagers and tired parents alike!

Owner's Response: A couple of comments are in order. First, I appreciate the kind words. These rental guests obviously appreciate the beauty and value of Seabrook Island as we do as indicated by their many repeat visits. They are also engage in active family vacations as they took advantage of the Seabrook's beaches and pools and our hot tub, canoe and kayak. We do the same. I would not be at all surprised if they someday became Seabrook Island property owners. This is the route by which the vast majority of all current Seabrook Island property owners became property owners.

A wonderful rental

We've just concluded our 2nd stay at this beautiful home and would highly recommend the home and Seabrook Island for a very relaxing beach vacation. The home is an easy bike ride to the beach club, which is a wonderful and convenient way to enjoy the beach and pools. Their location on the lagoon is very tranquil and we also enjoyed using the canoe and kayak provide for paddling around the lagoon in the evening. This was a great setup for two families vacationing together and we'll be back.

We stayed in this beautiful house for Christmas and New Years. As other guests have said, the photos somehow do not do it justice. It has a wonderful lay out, really nice furniture, a spectacular kitchen, a vino temp (how fun)...the list goes on. We were so comfortable and relaxed. The view of the marsh is just gorgeous, we saw great wildlife. The beach is not far, you can easily bike it. We are going to be guests again.

I rented from a great couple, the Hunts’ who were very concerned about meeting our needs. The house was exactly as they described. We even stayed over Sunday instead of departing Saturday. I plan on returning as soon as I can. I brought my horse and was extremly satisfied with the equestrian center and loved riding on the beach.

Owner's Response: Hopefully, the horse stayed at the stables at the equestrian center. Seriously, we try to help our guests in any way that we can. The Club which runs the equestrian center is also very helpful.

Our favorite activity is bicycling. The streets are both safe and scenic and there new bikes paths to Freshfields Village and Kiowa Island. Our favorite Kiowa Island destination is Beachwalker Park. The beach there is total pristine but it is a county park with facilities. Sand on both Kiowa and Seabrook beaches is often hard enough to bicycle. If you go to the right, you can bike or walk almost all the way back to Seabrook - it is just across the mouth of the combined Kiowa River and Cap'n Sam's Creek. Rental bikes are available at nominal cost: about $35 per bike per week with free delivery and pickup.
