WINTER IN ALASKA IS BEAUTFUL! DO NOT HESITATE TO VISIT!
Having dreamed of taking a trip to Alaska for so long, we wanted to be sure that we picked an excellent property. It's hard, when pouring over the seemingly endless number of vacation listings, to narrow things down. Photos and information provided by owners don't always live up to their claims. I literally inquired with dozens of different property owners, weighing all of the benefits, reviews, costs and other items in an attempt to make the perfect choice. I am SO GRATEFUL that we booked this property! It is absolutely everything it claims to be, and more. The photos just do not do it justice. The cabin is cozy, welcoming, and impeccably clean. And the BEDS! Oh wow! Literally the most comfortable ever. Paul and Ginny made us feel as if we were staying at a luxury hotel, with their attention to detail and our comfort. We were there in the dead of winter during record snowfall, and like having our own elves that came and left without notice, we would wake to find that the lengthy driveway was constantly plowed, and that wood for the wood burning stove/heater that we loved to use for heating was cut and put up on the outside porch for ease of use. (There is also a traditional house heater in the cabin if you prefer to use that instead of the wood stove - but we loved the warmth and the ambiance of the wood stove!) It is amazing how efficient the entire State of Alaska seems to be at snow removal. We were a bit hesitant when deciding on a winter trip; but trust me, there is no need to worry. The roads, particularly the Parks Highway and Willow Fishhook Road, were cleaned and cleared and always ready to travel - which we did. The drive to Anchorage was an easy and beautiful ride of about 75 minutes; about 30 minutes to Wasilla; and we even ventured north to the winter visitor's center of Denali and an overnight stay in Fairbanks (you must drive to the "North Pole" if you go to Fairbanks!) The point of our trip was to experience Alaska, and to attend the Iditarod festivities and race start, which is literally just up the road and around the corner from the cabin. This cabin was a superior find, and at a rate that was so much more economical than anything else that is truly comparable. Don't stay in the city - this is the place, we assure you! Easy access to everything. Truly peaceful, beautiful, accessible and economical. Thank you! Can't wait to plan our second trip to AK!

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your winter stay here in Alaska.
I would encourage anyone who really wants to see Alaska to give winter in the "Great Land" a try. Alaska holds a very special beauty during the off season, such as the quiet tranquility of the snow and the northern lights.
We sure enjoyed meeting both of you and enjoyed your company. You were so interesting to talk to and it was great to get your perspective on Alaska. We appreciate that you were really able to experience some of the culture and festivities of the North. Thank you so much for the beautiful pictures you sent our way and for the wonderful "winter review." We hope to see you back here before long. We'll keep the fires burning and the hearth warm.
