Just 50 yds. to a fresh-water, Long Pond beach and 1.6 mi. to Smuggler's Beach, this pet-friendly, 3 bedroom cottage, updated for contemporary comfort and appeal, is ideal for a active, family vacation or romantic, couples' retreat.

This is a clean, well-furnished vacation home with COMFORTABLE BEDS (master-queen, second-double, third-double futon, loft-2 twin beds) nicely accommodates 5 adults or families with 4 adults and 2-3 children. Cleaning and quality, cotton bedding included in rates quoted.

The ample list of amenities includes a well-stocked, dine-in kitchen, CENTRAL AC/heat, a 32' HDTV + DVR recorder, BLU-RAY/DVD/CD player, free Wi-Fi, a custom, glass-tiled bath w/ multi-jetted, hydrotherapy shower and over-sized tub, and a wood-burning fireplace.

A shaded, wood deck with two Webers--a propane gas and a charcoal BBQ--overlooks the fully fenced, back yard with swing/slide set, playhouse, FIRE PIT, and outdoor hot/cold shower. An inflatable BOAT, two 26 in., beach-cruiser BIKES, & beach gear available.

Toddler/baby gear provided. Rents to non-smokers only. Online payments or personal checks accepted. We DO NOT accept bank transfers.

About Judith

We are Judith and Doug Saum, a recently retired couple whose primary home is in Reno, NV. Doug is a retired English teacher who now makes music full-time. Judith still works part-time at the local, health department and manages our Turtle Cove Cottage rental.

Why Judith chose South Yarmouth

We were compelled to buy this Cottage this first time we saw it! The traditional flavor plus playful feel were too much to resist! Our son and family live only a few miles away, and we knew our grandchildren would adore coming here to stay with us.

What makes this cottage unique

Location, location, location! The quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. The proximity to Long Pond for taking an afternoon swim. The short drive to area beaches on both Nantucket Sound and Cape Cod Bay. The easy walk to restaurants and grocery store. The central location makes for easy access to anywhere on Cape Cod. Need we say more?

It's an easy drive from Turtle Cove Cottage to 11 south-side, Nantucket Sound beaches all within 4 miles like Bass River Beach, Parker's River Beach, and Seaview Beach, and 4 lovely, north-side Bay beaches, like Corporation Beach, all within 9 miles! Plus there is child-safe, sandy Long Pond Lyman Beach a few steps from the door at end of the street. The 57 acre Long Pond also offers kayaking, canoing and fishing (3-4 lb, large-mouth bass catches reported). There are 3 public golf courses all less than 3 miles. This home is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood at the end of Turtle Cove Rd, yet close to all the excitement and activity on the mid-Cape, Rte 28 south side. Several fine restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies and an amusement arcade are within walking distance less than 0.5 miles. Only 5 miles from Hyannis, the Cottage is central to all of Cape Cod offering easy access to Provincetown, Wellfleet, the Cape Cod National Seashore, and Martha’s Vineyard.

Other Activities: birding, especially during spring and fall migrations and winter storms, large-mouth bass & pickerel fishing on Long Pond

Golf: Nine public golf courses of varying size and levels of difficulty are located within 9 miles of Turtle Cove Cottage. The three closest are: Bass River Golf Course (2.7 mi.), Bayberry Hills Golf Course (2.7 mi.) and the championship, Blue Rock Golf Course (2.9 mi.) In addition, there is Dennis Highlands (7.2 mi.), Dennis Pines (7.5 mi.), Harwich Port Golf Course (7.1 mi.), Cranberry Valley Golf Course (Harwich at 8.6 mi.), Hyannis Golf Course (7.4 mi.), and Twin Brooks Golf Course (Hyannis at 8.3 mi.).

Clean and great location

Wonderful location and cottage was very comfy and our week absolutely called for use of AC. The bikes provided were marvelous. Close to grocery store and other stores yet quiet . Long pond was a great spot to try out the boats and they were fun for fishing. South street is where we enjoyed the ocean and the facilities there were excellent. had the pleasure to meet Judith and she was quick to respond when communicating was necessary . A true gem to go to and kick up your feet and relax.

Just perfect

Had a great 4 day long weekend at this lovely place; was perfect in every aspect! We could enjoy the lake at the end of the street (80 steps) to splash around a nd fish and watch the loons. And just a couple miles away we had Seagull beach. Near absolutely everything on Rt28 and would be a great base of operations for a longer stay. My husband gets figgety on vacation, but he raved as well. He especially loved the great details on not only the house, but all the restaurants and attractions in the area. Judith and Doug were great to deal with and thought of everything. We even rode the bikes and I hadn't done that in ages. When my husband tells everyone how terrific the place was, you KNOW its special!
The place was perfect us us and my small dog, who enjoyed the fenced in yard. Beds comfy, kitchen was well-appointed, Direct TV,... everything!. And the shower jets were fabulous! Really, not a thing to say but GREAT and THANKS and see you again!

The perfect little cottage on the cape - clean, comfortable and very close to all (shopping, beaches, entertainment & restaurants)! All the amenities you need - just like home. The owner thought of every detail to make our stay a great experience. And, there's a fresh water pond just feet away. Swimming, fishing, boating just right outside your door - can't beat that! Also have to add, everyone is welcome - including your four legged loved ones :-). Will definitely do this again!

Perfect place to ring in the New Year!

My husband and I spent New Years weekend at this adorable cottage! Judith and Doug really have made their home a perfect place to relax and enjoy our mini-vacation on the Cape. The home was very clean, great bed linens, well stocked kitchen, nice back yard, and the shower was awsome! They even spent the time to put together a huge binder with all sorts of activities you can do on vacation - they really thought of everything! Judith was wonderful to work with and always quick to reply with any questions. She even called to check in to make sure everything was ok when we arrived. I will recommend this cottage to my friends and family who are looking for that perfect place to stay on the Cape.

A great relaxing stay in a nice cottage

Stayed here over Christmas week 2011. The cottage is well equipped with all the necessities of life if you require them (wi-fi, 32" Screen TV, DVR). Fully equipped kitchen with lots of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc. Dishwasher, microwave and a new fridge/freezer,.
The cottage is exceptionally clean and well maintained, courtesy of the owners family that live on the Cape. There is a wood fireplace that we used every night and a good supply of seasoned logs came with the rental.
There are two extremely comfortable beds with very good quality bedding/linens etc. The bathroom has a modern shower with massage jets along with a regular shower head.
We booked this property back in August and prior to and during the rental I had frequent contact with owners to confirm certain things. They always got back to me promptly and answered any and all questions.
The cottage is located in a nice, quiet neighbourhood but you are only a 1 minute drive from a large Stop and Shop grocery store or a Shaws grocery. Also loads of restaurants within a 5 minute drive or less. You are also mid cape when staying here so you are no more than approximately 30 minutes to Sandwich or Provincetown and the National Seashore.
Another great thing was that we were able to bring our small dog with prior consent from the owners. Its a nice area to be able to walk your dog without alot of traffic on the sidestreets etc.
On a personal note, Judith, the owner, is well aware that we loved our stay here as we have been in frequent contact with her before and during our stay. She is great to deal with and obviously has a love for the Cape and her property and we are already looking at renting it again in the future.
I would not hesitate in recommending this property to someone looking for a getaway to Cape Cod.
