Walk to Beach and to Downtown Half Moon Bay! Gorgeous garden. Fireplace in Living Room and in Master Bedroom. Incredibly large Hot Tub. The house is designed and built by the owner, Chris Ridgway Architect, and he resides in a separte cottage on the property.

A Cozy Retreat for Reuniting with Friends

The four of us (two couples) spent three days in this cozy, Gaudi-esque home designed and built by the architect and owner. The creativity in the design of the house as well as his other interior creations: furniture, pottery and garden art reminded us of the Gaudi art and architecture we enjoyed when we traveled together to Barcelona, Spain. It was a stormy week, thus we spend much time inside. The round living room with all of it's windows looking out onto the private garden, provided a cozy theatre for watching the rain while enjoying the warmth from the easy-to-operate gas fireplace. The master bedroom with it's en-suite bath and guest bedrooms with their shared bath were comfortable and quiet. We luxuriated in the huge hot tub; the 4 of us felt lost in it, it was so big.
When the weather provided a chance to get out and about it was a short pleasant walk to town, restaurants, and galleries, and the beach was an easy 20 minute walk away.
Owner Chris was friendly, helpful and accessible when we had questions; otherwise we would not have known he was nearby.

Fantastic Experience

We stayed at Chris' house with another couple and our four-month-old. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed at home most of the time partly because it was so pleasant to be there and partly because of our daughter's sleeping schedule. The ten-minute stroll to Moonrise Cafe was really nice. I would definitely recommend the Eggs Benedict.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

My three sisters, daughter, niece and I spent two nights in Chris' wonderful house. I agree completely with all the good words written so well by previous reviewers, so won't repeat them. Suffice to say that we were extremely happy to have chosen such a perfect place for our first ever ladies' getaway. It was cozy, warm, quiet and lovely. We walked into town, frolicked in the hot tub, felt like royalty eating at the magnificent dining room table, and loved snuggling together on the great round couch in the living room to watch a chick flick. Chris was a charming host. We'd love to stay there again . . . soon.

Fairytale House

Staying in this unique and lovely place for the weekend was a magical experience. I felt like I had fallen through the pages of a story book and was now living in a fairytale house.

My favorite parts:

1. The bed in the master bedroom was super comfortable and the sheets were high quality so I slept really well.

2. The fireplace in the master bedroom is beautiful, easy to use, and absolutely delightful.

3. Hanging out in the living room felt like lounging in a genie's bottle. The round bed in the middle is really comfortable, the special lighting makes the ceiling glow, and you can fit quite a few people in there easily.

4. This house might have my favorite hot tub EVER. It's big, there are curvy comfortable places to sit and also very deep areas.

5. The overall architecture of the house reminds me a little bit of Antonio Gaudi's work, which I love. Everywhere I looked, there was a delightful new treasure to discover.

Heads up:

When you first pull up to the house, there are trees & bushes which create privacy but also make the street view unimpressive. Just start walking to the front door & then you'll see how cute & beautiful this place is.

Enjoy your stay! You will love it!
