This was my first time using VRBO, and I was very satisfied with how the whole process worked out for this rental. The owner was very generous and responsive to my inquiries which put me at ease. Not only did she provide accurate details on her listing but she also was genuine in providing suggestions for a wonderful and enjoyable stay.
Kona Reef is an older but very well-maintained place. We enjoyed the amenities offered at the condo, being able to cook our own food both in the kitchen and outside at the BBQ grills overlooking the pool area. The salt water pool and spa were both great for relaxing with a morning coffee or after a long day out exploring the island. The condo is very convenient to the pool area while having ground-floor access and views of the ocean which we found to be a big plus compared to other condos. We enjoyed the breezes coming in from the lanai. The sunsets were spectacular.
The condo itself is sparkly clean. Everything you need for a day at the beach is provided. A small round cooler for holding drinks, noodles for floating in the water, beach chairs, snorkeling gear, towels. It's all there. The kitchen is fully stocked and provides everything you will need to make a gourmet meal. Previous tenants left their condiments and marinade sauces in the refrigerator labeled with dates of opening which we found to be a nice touch. There is a dining table but we didn't use it at all, instead opting to eat al fresco on the lanai overlooking the water.
This place is close to everything. The village, shops, restaurants, and Queen K highway. My only drawback was that there was not much of a sandy beach. The closest beach with sand is a short five minute walk to the south and even that is small. We enjoyed Hapuna Beach which is a easy 30 minute drive to the north.
All of that said, I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives due to its great amenities, convenience, and location...
Mahalo for a memorable vacation spot!

Owner's Response: I am delighted that your first experience with vrbo met (and exceeded!) your expectations -- that is SO important to us!! I am pleased that you were able to make yourself at home and able to enjoy all the 'toys' we have available for our guests to use.
The beach right next to the Kona Reef (Honl beach) is indeed not very large -- but given all the lava on the island, we are thrilled for the sandy beach area right next door. Glad you were able to enjoy Hapuna Beach -- it is a beautiful drive north on the island and the lovely white sand is worth the drive.
May your memories of Kona continue to warm your hearts (and call you back for another visit! =-P)
