HAWAIIAN TROPICAL HIDEAWAY KAPAAU / HAWI

Our stay in the cottage was way too short. Kapaau on the northern tip of big island is very green, cloudy and off the touristic beaten path - here you can relax and the always empty highway takes you within 30min to the kohala coast beaches (where the weather seems to be always more sunny). The cottage is very clean, stylish, tastefully furnished, has an excellent equiped kitchen and is surrounded by green plants and trees. wonderful. we enjoyed the spirit very much! The landlord is very friendly and a really cool and relaxed guy who has nice tips for trips all over the island. A small supermarket is just 2 miles away. we recommend the cottage warmly.

Off the beaten path hide-away in Kapaau. Just right for relaxing, enjoying the outdoors, and feeling like a "local." The cottage is beautiful....a place for releasing your creativity, for local exploration, or just relaxing and listening to tropical sounds. You are a short drive from the most beautiful Kohala beaches....snorkeling, swimming, whale watching, sunsets. The Pololu Valley is a short drive and well worth it. As is Waipio Valley. Walking distance restaurants and art galleries in Kapaau. Hawi is only two miles away. Ed is a wonderful host. He is available to help, give advice, directions and ideas for outings. At the same time, you have complete privacy in the cottage. The pictures do not do this place justice...it is gorgeous. Once again, mahalo Ed....hope to see you again one day soon.

My girlfriend and I stayed here in December after spending a week on the east coast near Hilo. Compared to Hilo, Hawi is a funky, quiet little joint with a really laid back feel and Ed's place is a perfect base from which to head out and take it all in.

The accommodations were exactly as described and we found ourselves to be comfortable right from the get-go. One of the best things that this little cottage offers is a washing machine! Trust me, this is a treat after running around the island and swimming in the ocean. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed and the couch were comfortable and eating dinner each night in this quiet little cottage made us feel like we were right at home. The whole experience was reeeeelaaaaxiiinggg.... :)

Ed was a great host: friendly,outgoing, courteous, and he knows just about everything fun to do in the area. He seems to know all the restauranteurs in area and the great places to eat. Hawi has some great food joints! Ed's property is clean, well maintained and full of beautiful trees, plants and flowers. We really enjoyed our stay and are positive you will too!
