LOVELY LOCATION, SMALL ISSUES TURNED LARGE

  • 1 of 5
Upon arriving there wasn't a place to safely park your vehicles, I wouldn't consider the road side safe. Carefully walk down the entrance steps as they are uneven; this is important for +50. The house was clean and cute. Furniture is older with few tears, definitely needs cleaning as you can see it has been used for years. Sleep number bed upstairs was going to be a blessing since we have one at home; unfortunately it didn't work correctly so we moved all of our suitcases back down stairs after one night.
The yard is very beautiful unfortunately the yard keeper hadn’t been in a few weeks so the grass was above the ankle for the beginning then above the knee at midweek. Since the grass was so tall the mosquitoes were awful. Spent sixty dollars on a bug fogger so we could try to enjoy the hot tub. The bathing time restrictions really are a must after bathing and washing a few loads of clothes we were going to try to enjoy a peaceful evening in the Hot Tub only to find that the sewage was leaking over under the Hot Tub so that wasn’t a blast as we had intended either. Needless to say the entire week evenings were spent inside looking out. There were no outside grilling nights at all due to the bugs and sewage smell.
If you like a shower bring your own shower head as these will basically tear your skin off; my husband even opted for the bath after one shower.
The evening showers were pretty until we walked into the kitchen area and seen that the window was leaking and it had flooded the dining area. So we had to wash more towels and with the rain this made the sewage problem even worse. Needless to say we will not be returning to this rent home. Wish there would have been more current reviews on the website because I’m sure they would have been more accurate than the three or four year old ones that were on here. For the price it just wasn’t worth the heartaches. Would not recommend this property. I'm sure I've missed a few but lets be honest this is enough!

A SUPERB RETREAT IN TEXAS!

  • 5 of 5
We returned recently from a delightful 7 day stay at Casa Rosa in August and give high ratings for this place.

The house is spacious and quite accommodating for my husband, two adult sons, and me. The downstairs bedroom was a perfect guest room when our daughter and friend joined us for the weekend. I found the decor appealing and plenty of sitting space in the living room area, though the kitchen was a little trickier to work with 6 as the island counter held only a tight four, but we made it work in various ways as there was a table in the corner. Thanks to the table, we were able to play cards and put together some puzzles while there.

The river water was a bit cold for us to swim, but we enjoyed the quiet relaxation of floating around on tubes as the still water kept us very close to “home”. Having large and small coffee pots was good for appeasing caffeine versus non-caffeine drinkers in our family. We found cooking pots, pans, and utensils quite adequate for making formal meals.

I’d give cleanliness a 9, only because of some dust on the baseboards in the upstairs bathroom, which I probably might have missed if cleanliness was not listed in the previous July critique. Also mentioned … we only found 3 bugs the whole week we were there, so not something to fret over – especially knowing we were able to eliminate two!!!

Something special I liked was the large walk-in closet running off the bathroom upstairs. It was nicely laid out with shelves and hanging areas to store clothes and belongings, making it very easy to locate items rather than storing belongings in suitcases.

We had our own laptops but initially found a problem with the wireless internet which we called the staff about and thereafter spoke to the owner. The matter was taken care of promptly and a new modem installed within a day or two.

We also had a problem with the hot tub which we didn’t find out until climbing in one evening and finding the temperature control stuck at 109. That was okay with us, though, as the weather was so hot during the day anyway that we skipped using the hot tub and reported the problem before we left. Other than a few loose screws on 2 cabinet doors/towel hangers and a sluggish drain upstairs (which we also reported), the place is nicely maintained. The many benefits we had staying here outweigh the few flaws we found. For age 55+ ? Yes, but a cane might be useful.

We’re thankful for the opportunity to stay at Casa Rosa!

Owner's Response: It is always rewarding to hear that folks enjoyed staying in our home. Without feedback those small inconveniences experienced would grow to the point that others couldn't enjoy their stays. Our aim is for any problem be rectified quickly & cheerfully so that our guests' stays are enjoyable & they want to return every year.

FANTASTIC LONG WEEKEND GETAWAY. HOUSE WAS SUPER!

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful trip. The house is very large with all the amenities you could wish for, including cable TV and a laptop with internet connection!
The coffeemaker was broken upon arrival and they had even thoughtfully furnished another, albeit smaller version, so we would not go without! Towels, sheets, bedding, furniture...everything is very nice and very inviting. There was a small insect issue but that is to be expected I think so close to the water...and were we ever close!
Right on the Guadalupe, in our backyard on a fantastic stretch where we never saw more than 10-15 people ever! About a half mile down the river it got busier with the July 4th crowd but they all headed the opposite direction which was just fine for us!

The painting is a little scrappy in places, the airco beyond complex but intriguing and it works!, and the cleanliness I give a 7 but none of that mattered. We spent hours on the river and the deck by the river every day for 4 days straight. Don't bother taking your bikes in July...way too warm but if you are game, you can walk a half mile down to the Shaved Ice/Tube area and that is worth the walk.

Visited Wimberley (15 miles), Gruene (20 miles) and New Braunfels (20 miles) all centrally located.

My two boys are already asking when we can go back. I am thinking September. :)

Owner's Response: Hi Tobi,

Casa Rosa, is a great property with as you say the"river right outside your back door". Thank you for your feed back and we will replace the coffe maker with a larger one. The small one is a backup. We will also speak to our cleaning personal. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and taking the time to send us an email. We do hope you come back.
Have a great day!
Josie
