STUNNING PEAKS GLACIER VIEW PONDS

East Glacier Park House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Relax in our new custom built home on 7 1/2 private fenced and gated acres with panoramic Glacier Park vistas of the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Enjoy the views and solitude from the expansive redwood deck overlooking active beaver ponds where wildlife and birds abound. Moose, bear, deer, fox, waterfowl, and songbirds are frequent visitors where they share with us the natural beauty of Montana. Our home is sheltered in a gently sloping aspen grove with berry bushes, dogwood, and marsh grasses surrounding the ponds. The property is located two miles from the village of East Glacier Park (Amtrak stop) and from there a short drive to the entrance of Glacier National Park.

The house consists of three bedrooms and two baths. There are two 4' showers and an antique clawfoot tub where one can luxuriate after a long days hike. Each bedroom has mountain and pond views. The two main floor bedrooms each have two twin beds while the upstairs master bedroom has a king bed where the sunsets and alpenglow will amaze you. Go to sleep to the sound of beaver tails slapping the pond surface reminding you of the wilderness around you.

The open floor plan on the main level has 12' ceilings with knotty pine paneling, circular-sawn wood floors, solid maple kitchen cabinetry, and limitless views of mountain peaks. Sit in the comfortable living room recounting your days events or daydreaming as you overlook the ponds, Mt. Henry and Scenic Point. The dining area has a large oak table with seating for up to ten dinner guests. In building our dream home, much thought and effort went into designing the kitchen. In this large space you have the accoutrements and prep area to create the simplest of Montana breakfasts to the haute cuisine of a gourmet 5 star restaurant.

The optional sleeping cabin can accommodate two guests with a double futon bed and a twin bed, woodstove and electric heat. It has rustic pine paneling, wood floors, and views of the main pond and mountain peaks. The cabin has no plumbing but is only a few short steps from the main house.

Whether you are whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing the renowned Blackfeet Reservation lakes or in Glacier Park, summiting the surrounding peaks, hiking the picturesque Glacier Park trails, horseback riding, attending Pow Wow Days in Browning, golfing, sightseeing on the scenic Going to the Sun Road or hiking out your front door on tribal lands, you can be certain that an adventure awaits you in Big Sky Country. No matter where the events of the day may lead you, there is always a warm & comfortable home awaiting your return.

We are avid outdoor lovers that feel a deep connection to the wilds of Montana. We have designed and built this home ourselves with craftsmanship and careful attention to detail.

The Owner purchased this house in 2008

The Rocky Mountain Front is one of the true wild places in the lower 48 states. The proximity to Glacier National Park and the surrounding untrammeled lands drew us to this unique location.

We are able to immerse ourselves in the surrounding beauty whether walking around the ponds or relaxing on the sofa gazing out the picture windows.

A VERY SPECIAL PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
This is a wonderful home and our family felt very fortunate to stay here for a week. Our group - two parents with two young adult "kids" - loved this house. It is in the midst of an amazing wilderness area and we loved seeing the mountain range from the windows and the moose right outside! We felt secluded, but were also very happy to be only two miles from East Glacier. We travelled by Amtrak train, and we were glad to have such a short distance to drive when we got off of the train after dark! This was our first trip to Glacier and we were surprised by the size of the park. We did not want to spend all of our time driving, so did most of our hiking near the house, in the Two Medicine region of the Park. This is the quieter part of the Park, even late in the tourist season, and we appreciated that. This property is immaculate, perfectly maintained, and fully stocked. The owners have excellent taste. It is furnished simply and comfortably. The house has many windows and the views are spectacular. It is a cozy house, too, and our only regret was that it was too warm to make use of the wood stove. The photos, descriptions, and earlier reviews are all accurate. But it is hard to capture in words and pictures how great this place really is! The owners were very helpful and all of the business transactions were smooth. I would recommend this house to anyone. It is truly a treasure.

MINNESOTA HIKERS.

We had 4 adults and 4 children and the property met our needs wonderfully. We used the guest sleeping cabin for several of the children and that also worked well. The views of the mountain range greet you in the morning and it was fun to overlook the pond. We saw a cow and calf moose on two separate occasions within 50 feet of the house.. In addition, a doe and fawn walked within 10 feet of the house. The property was clean, well stocked, quiet and private. The owners were easy to work with and were very accomodating. We used the house as a base camp for five days of hiking in the park. Highly recommend the Grinell Glacier Trail hike. The drive to Glacier National Park's St. Mary's entrance or the Many Glacier entrance will take approximately one hour. I would rent this house again in the future and would recommend it for others.

Owner's Response: The entrance to Glacier National Park at Two Medicine is only 20 minutes from the house. It's a gorgeous and less crowded part of the park with spectacular hiking and boating.

TWO COUPLES FROM MISSOURI

My husband and I and his brother and sister-in-law would like to thank you for your hospitality and the use of your wonderful home. We spent some time at every entrance to GNP on the east side from this home base. Mostly we cooked in, and you provided more than needed for any cooking we did. The Whistle Stop in East Glacier had some fantastic St. Louis style ribs and also smoked short ribs! We also spent some morning time and some evening time on the deck watching the birds in the trees as well as the beaver and ducks in the pond. Nothing bigger, but we saw the bigger animals in the park. When leaving for the day, we closed windows and curtains and it was quite comfortable upon our return. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to our friends and other travelers. Patti

WONDERFUL HOME, BEAUTIFUL LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
You can absolutely trust all the positive reviews of this wonderful vacation home. We had a fantastic vacation in a beautiful spot. We were very happy to have the bear spray though we didn't need it, and thankful for the hiking poles. It was a short enough drive to anywhere we wanted to go for our daily hikes. It was great to be able to do laundry mid-trip and cook our own meals. I only wish we'd seen the beaver in the pond...

What a lovely stay we seven women had! The home was beautiful, well-constructed, airy and light! Wonderfully maintained, it offered all the amenities of home. We enjoyed sitting on the open deck which overlooked ponds, marshes and the mountains. Just over two miles from the village of East Glacier, we had good access to the park and restaurants.

Phil and Barbara were very attentive. They provided suggestions for hikes, meals and more. We couldn't have asked for a better place from which to explore the Two Medicines and St. Mary's portions of Glacier National Park and the surrounding area.

BEST PROPERTY TO VISIT GLACIER NATIONAL PARK

  • 5 of 5
Property owners take meticulous care of the home and grounds. We rent vacation homes all over the country and can say the owners of this home are in the top 1% of how well the take care and prepare their home. We were very impressed with how well stocked the home was right down to having bear pepper spray and walking sticks available for our hikes. The views from the home are mesmerizing. The home is situated to catch sunrise and sunset. We will miss our mornings and nights looking across the pond into the mountains.

Location: We have stayed on the East and West side of Glacier. There is no doubt the East side of Glacier is by far the best side of the park to make base camp. Easy access to Two Medicine, St. Mary and the Going to the Sun Road and our favorite hiking spots in Many Glacier. The East side of the park is less crowded and offers far more wildlife viewing and the best hiking. For grizzly viewing, go to Many Glacier an hour or two before dusk and you will see grizzlies. For moose, you don't have to venture any further then the back deck!

Dining: When you're ready to eat out, Luna's and The Whistle Stop in East Glacier are tops. If you're looking for a big steak after a long day of hiking up in Many Glacier, stop at The Cattle Baron and Supper Club. Biggest steaks in the lower 48.

Impossible to recommend this home any higher. You will enjoy your stay and be ready to book your next visit.
