Cazadero House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

(Click "Reviews" tab above to view more guest comments)

A few steps from your own beach on Big Austin Creek, “The Dreamery” is that rare vacation rental where you feel like an honored guest.

Tastefully decorated with Craftsman detail and Japanese art, the interior features a gourmet kitchen with a 5-burner gas range, romantic wood-burning fireplace, and rich redwood paneling.

Picture windows frame tranquil views of nature -- offering water views from virtually every room. Light, airy bedrooms open onto a spacious private deck overlooking the beach, creek, and a great spot for wading and swimming.

The 1/2-acre of privacy is graced with soaring old-growth redwoods that predate Columbus, lots of light, and a calming Japanese garden.

The Dreamery is located in the Russian River/Sonoma Coast resort area -- 98 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge.

You'll be near world-class wineries, restaurants, spectacular scenery, Northwood golf course, Armstrong Woods Redwood Preserve (tallest tree: 310 ft; oldest 1,400 years), Jenner by-the-Sea, and the breathtaking Sonoma Coast beaches.

Outdoor activities abound in this eco-adventure paradise. However, once you get to the peaceful setting, you may not want to leave (ever!).

SPECIAL: In addition to low rental rates, we will NOT charge the usual $100 cleaning fee if you leave the house reasonably clean (every little bit counts these days).

SPECIAL: You can even book a professional in-home massage by a certified massage therapist at reduced rates.

_________ DETAILED DESCRIPTION ________

Gently soak away urban stress in the luxury 'Hot Spring' spa with therapeutic 'hydro massage'.

Most people do in fact shower in the nude (heh, heh) … but rarely outdoors. Now you can with the private outdoor shower. With both hot and cold running water, you can shower in nature among the towering Sequoias. After a brisk swim in Austin Creek or soaking in the hot tub, you can even do the hot-cold-hot-cold CHA CHA CHA. Why not? Nobody’s watching.

A single-level bungalow, the Dreamery is set on a curve in Big Austin Creek -- one of the cleanest waterways in Calif.. The year-round creek is home to giant blue heron, egrets, river otter, and ducks. This is the most beautiful spot on Austin Creek. It's an easy 1/2 mile walk or bike ride to the village of Cazadero where you will find a real 'Country Store.' A coffee shop/bakery is even closer. A short scenic drive brings you to the Sonoma beaches and coastline where the Russian River meets the mighty Pacific Ocean. And even if the coast is socked in with FOG, you’ll be protected in the sunny “banana belt” micro-climate with all-day sun (Feb. to Nov.).

The Dreamery also features an in-home computer for guest use. You'll have free high-speed cable Internet and Wi-Fi if you want to bring your own wireless laptop or device.

Please respect that this is a SMOKE-FREE, PET-FREE environment ... including, please, no 'party animals' (not a 'party house').

For fire and safety reasons, smoking is NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE on the property -- including outside !!!

If you or anyone in your party smokes, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE find another place.

Maximum occupancy is no more than 4 people -- including children and/or day guests.

Alaska/Horizon Airlines has daily non-stops into Santa Rosa from Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Diego, and Portland. The property is 45 minutes from the Santa Rosa airport. San Francisco International and Oakland airports are 2 hours away. San Jose airport, 3 hours.

If you're looking for a peaceful, private retreat from which to explore this gorgeous part of the universe, it doesn't get any better than 'The Dreamery.”

About Andrew or Russian River Vacation Homes

The first time I drove along Big Austin Creek I was smitten – kinda like how you feel when you first fall in love with your mate. (Remember THAT feeling?) I searched for a year until I found the sweetest spot offering views up and down the year-round creek. The setting is a sunny and private waterfront opening in the coastal forest. The 1/2 acre property is graced with a pebble beach and 600-year-young redwoods. I named it “Sequoia Beach Dreamery.” Guests LOVE this place. And their guest book comments melt my heart and remind me how much I enjoy both the peaceful setting and its closeness to all that this magical part of northern California has to offer. Chances are you’ll come to think of it as your own dreamy getaway. Indeed, think of it as your new back yard. Warmly, Andrew, Santa Rosa, CA

Andrew or Russian River Vacation Homes purchased this house in 1997

Why Andrew or Russian River Vacation Homes chose Cazadero

I first looked at properties right on the Sonoma coast, but I found them to be windy and foggy too much of the time. But the Dreamery is in a protected 'banana belt' micro-climate -- just one coastal range removed from the ocean. I chose Cazadero because it’s off the beaten path, yet close enough to enjoy the coastline (15 min), the Russian River (10 min), and wine country attractions. Santa Rosa airport is 45 min. away and it's only 98 min. to the Golden Gate Bridge (I timed it!). You'll be close to world-class amenities and everything this eco-adventure region of N. Calif. has to offer.

What makes this house unique

I must have been an innkeeper in a previous life because I love stewarding this tranquil retreat for folks who want to slow down, reconnect with nature, and share intimate time with a loved one. We’ve given special attention to creating a calming atmosphere with extra touches that offer you an ongoing sense of “Greeting.” The goal is to delight our guests who seek peaceful respite from the Hurley-Burly of the fast-paced urban scene. Visit the Dreamery, fill your lungs with fresh country air, and feel the Calm.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We loved the fact that it is so close to San Francisco, where we live, but felt like it was a world away. It was so very relaxing to spend time every day in the hot tub and watch hawks soar above the trees. Everything was well stocked from the kitchen to the book shelves. One of the best parts was that it is a pet-free rental, very hard to find, but very important when someone has an allergy.

The Dreamery is My Circle

As Fall leaves turn to Winter slumber,

we return to Dreamery’s wonder.

The seasons change and transform,

and our sacred oneness is reborn.

The ancient redwoods all around us, teaching patience, wisdom, and

We watched the sun from rise to set,

then the star and moon cover the earth with a blanket of night.

I am centered, reconnected, and whole.

"What a perfect place to get away and relax. After completing the Alcatraz Duathalon, this was the absolute perfect post-race recovery therapy. Our stay here took us completely away from our everyday stress. We bonded with our friends and nature. And yes, there was much bonding with the numerous vineyards around the area.

We enjoyed so many wonderful moments from listening to the birds in the morning to laughing about our funny past among friends. We feel we left an indelible mark on this area and vice-versa. We plan of returning very soon!!

Also, Julie was outstanding. She gave the best massages one could ask for. She challenged us to open our minds, hearts, and souls. We will never forget our experience with her. Her smile and grace made us feel like she was destined for this house of tranquility. With all our love,"

Thank you for such a beautiful experience. We all were relaxed and enjoyed your home thoroughly. Our children loved the creek, especially our son Luke who put it best: “This guy really knows how to live.” Our daughter Charley wanted to leave you with some of her drawings in appreciation. Thank you again; we would love to come back again one day.” - The Newman Family, Sparta, N.J.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your visit. We are especially honored when guests travel clear across the country to the "left" coast to relax under the towering ancient redwoods next to this magical little bend in the creek. Please know that you and your family will be welcomed back.

It was just what I needed

  • 5 of 5

This is a gem of serenity coupled with the amenities of home. Those were just the things I needed to escape from my busy life. Looking out the windows gave me a sense of calmness and an invitation to s-l-o-w d-o-w-n. I love to cook and the kitchen had every thing I needed to feel right at home. The spacious private deck overlooking Austin Creek was a great place to have meals and also provided ample space to do art projects.

The rooms are tastefully decorated and very livable. I was inspired just being there to re-group my thoughts, act on any creative notions and simply relax. I am so grateful to have been exposed to a place that is not too far to escape to yet feels remote and away from the crazed world beyond.

Owner's Response: Comments like these cause me to skip for joy. I consider it a privilege to be able to provide a respite from the hurly-burly of the world's busyness -- one where guests are invited to slow down, listen to nature, and allow their innate creativity to reveal itself. Your review reminds me of one of my favorite poems. Thank you: ------------------------------ Any Morning ----------------------------------- Just lying on the couch and being happy. Only humming a little, the quiet sound in the head. Trouble is busy elsewhere at the moment, it has so much to do in the world. People who might judge are mostly asleep; they can’t monitor you all the time, and sometimes they forget. When dawn flows over the hedge you can get up and act busy. Little corners like this, pieces of Heaven left lying around, can be picked up and saved. People won’t even see that you have them, they are so light and easy to hide. Later in the day you can act like the others. You can shake your head. You can frown. -- William Stafford --

Absolutely beautiful, serene, great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The pictures are beautiful, but until you walk into this beautiful house you won't be able to appreciate what an amazing place it is. Great attention to details, very comfortable, very nice kitchen, comfortable beds, and being right on the river gives it a very special feel. The deck is great to relax and enjoy, and the hot tub is surrounded by tall trees (with an outside shower which is brilliant). The zen garden is there to be cherished and enjoyed...

Highly recommended, and we will definitely go back. This is the note we left in the guest book:

“What can be said,

When all is spoken,

Sequoia Beach Dreamery,

A dream that will remain.”
