Not the best experience

  • 2 of 5

I planned a weekend for a get together with friends and their families. After researching many places we agreed on STTP. We were very excited as the pictures were incredible and the amenities seemed so awesome. My excitement changed once we arrived at the property and quickly discovered the construction going on. The woman checking us in asked if the owner told us about this and I said definitely not. It would have definitely influenced our decision. The construction was not only an eye sore but it definitely reduced the enjoyment in the house. There were areas that were taped off from access as well as construction items around. The construction items definitely were a concern as we had children around which you never know what kids can get into. This was not the relaxing get away that was expected or described. Also, the house states dinner seating for 14 which was our group. Now maybe they are including all the outdoor seating in this number. We definitely could not seat more than about 8 maybe 9 and the table could only seat about 6 adults at once. I did try contacting the owner both through the company and directly but he never responded to either. Luckily we only rented for two days but what really is tough when the owner would not respond I gave up since I know we would never rent this again because of the condition of the house and how the owner doesnt communicate or own up to providing what is advertised. So my warning is the owner was not very responsive to my inquiries.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that your experience was not as you expected. You were advised that the house was under construction when you initially rented it ( On Homeview Drive where we first met ) The construction should have been completed by your arrival date, but weather and unavailability of materials issues caused some delay. The property was functional during your stay, but I understand that you may have been disappointed with the house at that time. The house accommodates 14 guests, but I do not advertise indoor seating for 14 at one time. Seating is appropriate for the size of the home. I was not able to return your initial message immediately. My rental manager handles issues that arise during a rental, and we respond to repair issues promptly. My reviews have been very positive over the past 3 years, and I am committed to offering a first-class vacation destination. All repairs will be complete upon arrival of the new window and the house is in excellent condition.

Great property for any type of gateway!!

I, along with a group of friends ended up spending a weekend away before the holidays at STTP and it was the best place to stay! Even with the weather not being ideal we had a great time playing basketball, golf, football and just hanging out around the firepit. I would 100% recommend STTP to any one looking to just get away or family gatherings. Great property, amazing views, I will be back for sure.

It is as amazing as it looks!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family stayed at STTP for our annual family reunion for the last two years. Yes, it has a basketball court, tennis court, football field (really), golf green, pier and boathouse, rafts, kayaks, a beautiful house, and it is so private you feel like you own the entire lake. The property is an entire penninsula, immaculately kept. We brought two 14 ft. Laser sailboats that we just rigged up and left on the beach, so anyone could just jump in and go. We rented a pontoon boat also, and took fishing and tubing expeditions.

We have kids from 3 to 85 in our family. And no one ever left the property all week, except to go to the store or take the boat out. No "I'm bored", no "can we go somewhere else today" (although Kings Dominion is an easy day trip). The beach by the boathouse has a very gradual slope, and is easily seen from the house - piece of mind for parents of kids who maybe are not the best swimmers. The kids were in the lake from breakfast to bedtime, and with fishing right on the pier, always an adult to keep an eye on them. Nice break for the parents!

The owner, Jerold, is great to work with, very reasonable and responsive.

We will be back!

Stayed with friends and family for Easter

  • 5 of 5

The date is wrong as I am very late leaving my review.

Absolutely amazing vacation! the setting is just fabulous with so much to do and the kids just wanted to fish off the dock and kayak all day. Had a lovely Easter egg hunt.

Could not have been more pleased with Straight to the point. Loved it and want to visit again soon.

One of a kind

  • 5 of 5

The trip was great! We loved your home and the property kept our busy little ones just thrilled all week. In fact besides some Food Lion runs and a run to church Sunday we really did not leave. we had everything we needed. A pastor at church also really blessed us by connecting us with a guy who lives just across the lake from you and he was so kind to us. he brought his boat over 2 days and took all of us tubing for hours. Wow what a blast. We would certainly come again. Very quiet and serene. Especially early morning and dusk. Caught Bass off the dock. caught Turtles and frogs and even saw an American Bald Eagle with a fish in its talons.

Fantastic Family Reunion Venue..our 12 yr. grandaughter found it online..It is a WINNER!

  • 5 of 5

Our daughter and her family live in Germany and comes to the US once a year and we meet with the other 3 siblings' families in a somewhat central location. We all lead very busy lives and look forward all year to this time together and catching up as a family and enjoying every possible minute together. Straight to the Point was the icing on the cake for our family to have a lifetime of memories for our 2014 Family Reunion. We had 10 adults and 9 children ages 18 mos. to 12. The layout of the home was perfect for each couple to have their own rooms and the older cousins to have their own room with bunk beds. We did bring our own porta cribs for the two younger ones. The matriarch and patriarch of the family (my husband and I) had the penthouse bedroom on the 3rd floor. A beautiful sunrise welcomed us each morning along with birds singing and one evening we had a bonfire while watching the sunset. We were so blessed with weather in the 60's in February and totally enjoyed sitting on the dock while the kids played in the paddle boats out on the lake, several even got in the water...way too cold for this Florida gal. The spacious kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed..dishes were a little mismatched but it sure didn't bother us..we were able to prepare some great meals with even a nice griddle for a pancake breakfast. The living area was a little short on chairs or sofa for our size family but it was cozy and comfy and we added a few dining/patio chairs for our annual talent show and our family sharing time. In the common area (2nd floor) it was common to see the pool table being used, dinner being prepared, little ones watching a TV show and the older ones playing Bingo at the dining table all in the same environment. The home had lots of toys, games & sports equipment. I loved looking out and seeing my 9 year old grandson playing basketball on the court with his uncles who he only sees once a year. As the owner told me the internet was a little intermittent and it was but we survived. The grocery was a little further than expected but it was closer to the Richmond and Dulles airport than we expected. Our entire family would recommend this home for a special occasion, getaway, reunion, etc. Greg, the property manager, met us at the home and was very helpful in getting us settled in. The owner has been most gracious in our communication.

Thanks and look forward to returning!
