4 bedrooms (10 beds- zoned for 8 adults + 2 children under 2yrs)

If Ralph Lauren ever featured a lake house in any of his advertisements, this would be the property he would use. Almost every room features a magnificent and unfettered view across broad expanses of Smith Mountain Lake. There is a link below to additional photographs. The covered back porch faces West and is where we sit to watch the kids playing in the yard or watch the sunsets while sharing a glass of wine and listening to our favorite tunes through speakers located throughout the propery (via satellilte radio).

The lake house sits on almost 3 acres and is almost completely surrounded on three sides by the lake. It has a secluded cove for safe swimming and a large boat house with covered lounging as well. There is a grassy field for soccer play and another for lawn tennis (badminton).

Around the corner from Mitchell's Point Marina where you can rent boats and wave runners. The Marina also provides free wireless internet and has a bar and grill with excellent food.

PETS: The only pets we permit are adult dogs who are well trained and require a small fee for pets. Please call to discuss the fee and additional security deposit that may be required.

Smith Mountain Lake has wine festivals, art festivals, flea markets and the like, throughout the year. Check online for those activities. The lake is famous for its bass fishing, and annually hosts a bass fishing tournament (hosted and filmed by ESPN sports network). The National D-Day Memorial, designed by Dickson Architects and Associates is in Bedford County, the county where this lake house is located. The Memorial exists in tribute to the valor, fidelity, and sacrifice of the Allied Forces on D-Day, 6 June 1944. The United States Congress warranted the establishment of the Memorial at Bedford, Virginia, the community suffering the country’s severest per capita losses on D-Day.

Notes

  • There is a $50 dollar per night additional charge for each night of your stay which includes any holiday (i.e. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day, or the like) at the applicable rate for that particular night (i.e. whether it is a weekend night or weekday night).

    During the Summer season, when permitted to stay less than 7 nights (see note below), any night that is a Friday, or Saturday night is a 'weekend' night and is charged at the weekend rate for the Summer of $700 per night.

    Two (2) night stays are $1,000 (plus tax and cleaning fee) and are NOT permitted in the Summer.

    Three (3) night stays are $1,300 (plus tax and cleaning fee) and are NOT permitted in the Summer.

    During the summer season, the 4 night minimum is only available if there are odd number nights available due to the Owner's use of the property. Except for that, there is a 7 night minimum stay. Please inquire if there is a block of dates less than 7 nights that might be available.

  • The Master Bedroom features a California King Size Bed and has an entire wall size view of the lake. It has a full bath with shower. The guest room is large and has 2 twin single beds. Shares hallway full bath with Bunk Room The Bunk Room features four beds in bunk bed configuration permitting up to four people sleeping space. Shares hallway full bath with Guest Room. There is another bedroom attached to the house and is accessed via the back deck area that sleeps two and has a fireplace. It too has extensive views of the lake. The zoning restricts the property for short term rental to a total of 8 overnight adults with no restrictions as to the number of children 2yrs and under and no restrictions as to the number of people on the property during the day. Thus, the indication that the property has 10 beds available in 4 separate bedrooms.

Notes:
Since we view the house as a retreat, we decided not to have the distractions of the internet and television. Instead, we have set up a home theater system with a high definition DVD player and suuround sound to play movies every night. In an emergency, there is a free Wi-Fi hot spot (wireless internet cafe) at Mtichell's Point Marina, a very short walk from the house by land and a two minute boat ride (two coves away). Mitchell's Point Marina is a wonderful resource for renters. Mitchell's features a really cute and quaint bar and grill that is owned by one of the areas most popular caterers. He serves some of the best smoked barbecue you will ever taste! The Marina also rents boats, wave runners and water ski equipment and rafts to pull behind a boat.

Best Spot on the Lake!!!

I really can't say enough about our stay here over Memorial Day weekend. The owner was incredibly wonderful. The sunsets, breathtaking, and the house was stunning. It was immaculate and resembled a mix between Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. We spent the days out on a rented boat and the evenings fishing from the dock or shore or sitting on the porch and watching the sun go down. We've stayed in a VRBO on Smith Mountain Lake before and this was by far the best experience we've had. Top to bottom it was a two thumbs up rental!

This house is the perfect lake house with a panaromic view of Smith Mountain Lake. We appreciated the
house being so clean, it was as if it was our house that had just been cleaned by the best cleaning company. The openess of the kitchen, dining area and family room was comfortable and worked well for our large family. The porch and patio area gave us extra hang out space and take advantage of the great view. Our kids enjoyed the badminton and volleyball in the back yard, and even slept out in a tent one nite, that we brought. Would highly recomend this house to anyone who appreciates a beautiful lake home with the best views.

We couldn't have asked for more from our first trip to SML, our two families had a great time and very much enjoyed the upscale look and feel of the house. Its clear the owner takes great pride in the house and genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay, we've stayed in many rentals over the years and this one was right up there as one of the best :)

Its superbly located right on the lake allowing you to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets or just watch the kids play for hours on the water trampoline - one important tip - be sure to rent a boat to explore the vast expanse of lake on your doorstep.
