Graduation Refuge

We had the pleasure of staying in Ed's "cottage" while celebrating our daughter's graduation from Brown University. I had dreaded the idea of spending a week with family/guests packed into 2-3 hotel rooms, so I searched far and wide for some good alternatives. As luck would have it, we found perfection in the Carnegie Abbey Club. The house is simply immaculate - beautifully furnished and impeccably maintained - but it is not so imposing that you are afraid to relax and enjoy it. Indeed, we took full advantage of the pool, the outdoor grill, the golf cart and the Club itself, and the whole family looked forward to returning to the cottage after each day's graduation events.
Ed was an extremely gracious and accommodating host. I was delighted that he was able to stop by one day to say hello. Despite my forewarning, I think he was surprised to find a dozen young ladies lounging around the pool when he arrived, but he welcomed all of them just as he welcomed us. This highlights the fact that Ed's cottage was very popular with the Brown Class of 2010, about 50 of whom showed up at various times throughout the week. One young lady declared, "This place is sick!", which I am told is one of the highest compliments imaginable.
Finally, I must confess that my favorite night in the cottage was the last night. Graduation had ended, and due to scheduling imperatives, the entire family flew home and left me to drive home on my own. This meant that I had the entire place to myself. With a nice single malt in hand, I savored the sunset, sea air and silence. It was the perfect end to a sometimes hectic week.
Thanks for letting us enjoy your home, Ed!

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for the kind words...I'm so happy we were able to be part of the graduation experience and help make graduation week a memorable one for you...
It was greartly appreciated to see Dave and his family take such good care of the cottage even with a significant percentage of the Brown University graduating class on site..they were true ladies and gentlemen..
I must say it was a bit overwhelming to see the lovely graduates frolicking in my pool...an image I won't forget but certainly could appreciate from my own college days...A fabulous family who are welcomed to return anytime!!! Thanks again!!!
