Description: Welcome to a unique architecturally designed private residence that is set high on a mountain near the end of a quiet cul de sac overlooking the town of Canmore, Alberta. The home was completed in 2008 and will appeal to people with an interest in modern design with an alpine flair. The house is located in a four-season development centered around a golf course and backs onto miles of protected government land with hiking, biking, and winter sports out your door. The home features spectacular mountain views from every angle.

This 5800+ square foot home boasts 4 bedrooms, all with hand-laid glass mosaic tiled ensuite bathrooms. There is an additional powder room off the kitchen/dining area. The house is large enough for family reunions or corporate retreats, yet intimate in scale for smaller groups. The bedrooms are spread out in the house over 3 levels to provide the maximum amount of separation and privacy. Just a few of the unique touches include reclaimed maple flooring, imported Italian door hardware, heated ensuite floors, quarter-sawn white oak cabinetry, and an indoor rock climbing area!

Main Level: The large foyer leads into the open concept kitchen/dining area with reclaimed maple hardwood flooring throughout. The fully-equipped kitchen features everything you need to prepare the perfect meal and Whirlpool stainless steel appliances: double oven, gas 5-burner cooktop, side-by-side refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, microwave oven. Enjoy a quick bite to eat at the eat-in bar (seats 6) or sit down for a grander meal at the dining room table (seats 12). The custom kitchen features quarter-sawn white oak cabinets and top-of-the-line appliances. Don't forget to turn on the gas wall fireplace to set the mood while enjoying dinner! You can relax in the spacious living room in front of the river-rock fireplace while reveling in the mountain view that surrounds you.

Upper Level: The upper level features a grand master bedroom with custom walk-in closet and an indoor balcony which looks onto the 3-story indoor rock climbing area. The ensuite bathroom features a walk-in shower with glass enclosure and double vanities with plenty of storage. At the end of your day of hiking/skiing/golfing, enjoy a soak in the jetted soaker tub while enjoying the mountain view prior to climbing into the queen size bed. You'll wish you could stay forever.

The upper level is also home to the 2nd bedroom, featuring an ensuite bathroom, large closet and queen bed. Use the office area and computer to email all your friends and tell them what a great time you are having in the Canadian Rockies. Wireless internet access is also available for those guests that would prefer to use their own computer. If you haven't gotten enough of the views from the numerous windows, take a stroll on the large balcony that wraps around the side of the home, and connects to the even larger balcony down below.

Lower Level: If you are travelling with kids, they will love the

lower level! The lower level is the ultimate sleepover area! It features a bunk room with 3 single beds, ensuite bathroom, media room, ping pong table, foosball table and access to the 3-story indoor rock climbing area, with bouldering wall*. For entertaining, enjoy use of the large wet bar to mix your favourite cocktails, or pour a glass of wine from a bottle that's been chilling on the wine cooler. *This area can be locked off so curious kids can look, but not touch. Children must be supervised when using the climbing area.

A Very Nice Home with a Couple Minor Flaws

This is a new, very roomy, contemporary home that was fun to live in. The view from the living room windows and the decks is outstanding. The large, high-ceilinged living room itself was impressive. The property managers were VERY cordial and friendly There was plenty of space for everyone although I thought the layout was a bit inefficient. I also felt the colors used in decorating (grey walls and grey stone) and hard surfaces (causing even quiet conversations to echo) prevented a feeling of warmth that would have been really nice to have. There was only one TV in the house--which was OK for us, and maybe one too many for some--but seems unusual for a house of this size and rent range. We selected this unit because it was the only four-bedroom we could find making late reservations and found it to be satisfactory but would probably see what other options were available should we return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. We are glad that you and your family enjoyed your visit to Canmore. The views from the Silvertip Heights property are certainly quite stunning. Perhaps we can convince the owner to add an accent wall or two for those of us that can see colour (the owner is colour blind, and quite modern in his styling -- thus the grey minimalist motif). All of our privately owned units have only one TV. Those homes are used by the owner's family when visiting, and they usually prefer to be outdoors as much as possible (or gathering as a family when watching a movie). Our resort units tend to have a TV in each bedroom, in addition to the living room. We are always looking for ways to improve our properties, or wondering which type of units we should add to our inventory. We do have other properties available with more TVs, and each with a unique layout. I've always loved the colour palette at our Quarry Retreat property.

The kids loved the room at the front to read, play cards, get away from adults. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped. I even made muffins. The Canmore Quad Tour was amazing (thanks Chuck!) White water rafting was fun. Loved the street fair on Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Rustica. Elk paid us a visit to our kitchen window on Friday. Did a run with Run Fit group on Sunday ... lots of fun.
