WOW! is all I can first say about The Deckhouse. My family and I searched out many homes to vacation with another family...and were we ever so pleasantly surprised by what we walked into when we picked this home. The description didn't quite express ENOUGH of the positive things that came along with the home. My first impression of the owners, before even arriving, was unbelievable...he was kind, helpful, sincere,& generous with his information, and always got back to me right away. Upon arrival, the deck truly is ENORMOUS, it wrapped around the whole house and invited us into a great home and experience. It was clean and well kept with much more than we expected.....a welcoming package, bright rooms, comfortable furniture, quiet and relaxing atmosphere...This was my families second time on the island. We have 2 young children, and the other family staying with us has 2 youngsters also. Never once did we worry about space or things to do. Everything we wanted to do was 15-20 minutes, give or take for traffic, either way around the island...whether we wanted lots of noise and action for the kids, or some quiet time around the house for the adults. We went to a few beaches-Lamberts Cove was nice, a bit of a hike, but worth it.....Long Beach worked out great for the little ones with a choice of a calm fresh water pond or the ocean waters with waves for the adults to check out...State beach is the EASIEST to go to, for its just a few short steps onto the beach. Wednesday night we always make sure to go to The Flatbread Pizza Restaurant (make sure to get there early, like 4/5ish) the pizza is great with nice outside dining, and they have kids disco night after dinner....so much fun to watch the kids enjoy themselves and let loose with the adults. Make sure to stop by the carousel, and walk around a little.....you never know what you will find or who you will walk into around there. We did most of our eating back at the vacation home, for there was alot to use for cooking, and we packed coolers with all sorts of stuff to grill, bake and saute, we like to cook so it was great to be away and enjoy it, and we always had extra for the beach the next day...imagine eating ribs, BBQ chicken and cole slaw on your blanket at the beach...we LOVED it.We really look forward to Menemsha Beach for the day before we leave the island...order from Larsons for dinner when you arrive(ex- fresh steamed lobsters, etc)eat on the beach as you watch the most beautiful sunset!
