We loved Kirkwood and this condo property. The condo was huge - perfect for a family who brings some additional friends along. The decor is fabulous and the furnishings very comfortable. We remarked several times that it was bigger than our condo at home, and comfortable enough to be a year-round residence without any compromises.
We had fun dinner parties around the big dining room table and had lots of room to spread out and entertain after skiing. Warm, cozy and great light. We actually got stuck and couldn't go home for a couple of additional nights in a big storm and didn't get cabin fever. Just a great place.
Good proximity to the lift and to the general store. This place is definitely a winner.
And for people who've never been to Kirkwood, we highly recommend Kirkwood for skiing as it's very family-friendly and unpretentious. Kirkwood is quiet and mellow without much of a party/glamour scene. Friendly staff, great snow and easy to get to from the Bay Area. It's a little complicated, but quick. 3:15 from the Bay Bridge to the parking lot with a stop on the way.
As of this writing, there's also free parking 400 yards from the condo for families with small children going to the instructional area. It made such a huge difference to us with a three year old going to his first ski school lessons.
In short it's a very comfortable, luxurious-yet-practical, well-appointed place for a big group to stay - summer or winter - when enjoying the Kirkwood area and the Sierras south of Tahoe.
