Wonderful 1770 built cape with views of the Mystic River. Five minutes walk to Historic Mystic Seaport, five minutes walk to the numerous restaurants, bars and shops on Main Street. Five minutes drive to Mystic Aquarium and Olde Mystick Village. Just ten minutes drive to the nearest beaches and twenty to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. The house is currently undergoing major improvements to be ready for Spring 2014 (second bathroom and third bedroom). There will be accommodation for 8: 2 in each bedroom and a very comfortable pull out sofa in the living area.
The home was adorable and quite comfortable. All of the ammenities you need were made available. We were within walking distance to most everything in the area. My family had a great week and we would definitley return again. James and Wendy were so accomodating and gracious as well. Overall a wonderful experience.
We stayed in the house for a week and were delighted with the house and location. It was perfect for our requirements and the one thing that really impressed us was the very comprehensive range of things in the house from kitchen items to toys to beach towels, picnic basket, garden toys etc etc. The house had everything that we could possibly need for our stay and in particular we liked the fact that there was a supply of detergents, dishwasher tabs, toilet roll etc so that we didn't have to stock up on these things on arrival. Our 2 boys had an amazing time playing with all the toys and games, which kept them entertained for hours. Thank you for making our stay so easy....
Mystic is a lovely, pretty town with lots of lovely restaurants and plenty to keep the family entertained and all within easy walking distance. Would definitely recommend this place to friends/family....
The house is cozy and comfortable. Location is perfect. You can walk to downtown and the seaport. We had a wonderful vacation.
Our family of 6 had the privilege of staying at the cottage this summer. Leading up to the trip the owners were extremely helpful and informative of great things to do in the area! The pictures of the house looked beautiful, but often times when you arrive you end up disappointed. That was not the case. The place was immaculate, and just as described! Modern amenities, beautiful kitchen, and although the overall place is not very big, it actually feels quite spacious inside! It fit our family perfectly. There were toys, puzzles and movies for the kids, a nice private backyard with BBQ grill. It truly felt like home for the week. We also loved how close it was to downtown. Less than a mile walk! We rarely drove our car because everything was so close. The owners were extremely helpful to us throughout the week and went above and beyond to make sure our needs were being met as exceeded. We will definitely be back and again would highly suggest this place to anyone looking for a maintenance free and relaxing vacation!
This very pleasant home is in an excellent location! It is a delightful 5 minute walk, mainly along the river, to downtown Mystic. The listing description and photos are very accurate. The property is well-maintained and was extremely clean. The kitchen is well-equipped for making basic meals. We were pleasantly surprised to find a welcome gift from the owners on the kitchen counter.
There is a nice view of the Mystic River from the kitchen window and side yard. The owners have a notebook in the kitchen with the manuals for all the appliances in the house as well as very detailed check-in and check-out instructions. Phone numbers are provided for the owners and property manager. Prior to renting the property I had a very delightful and informative conversation with the owner which made me feel more confident about renting from an on-line site.
Our visits to nearby Mystic Seaport (a 5 minute walk), the Mystic Aquarium and Olde Mystic Village (a very short drive), and nearby Ocean Beach Park were very enjoyable. We liked McQuade's Marketplace (near the aquarium) for basic groceries and a great selection of ready-made heat and eat entrees as well as sandwiches/wraps.
I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative.
We enjoyed our stay in this Mystic Cottage House. The size and amenities were adequate for our family of 3 and the location of the house was one of the biggest perks. Within walking distance to lots of local attractions, we certainly were enjoying the area around us. Another pro for this house was the fenced in back yard where our son could run around and play when we weren't in town or at the aquarium. Since the home was built in the 1700's the 2nd floor access and ceilings were quite low, but this was to be expected with the age of the property. We had lots of interaction with the property owners and they were very attentive and helpful. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would recommend to friends.
Living in Mystic has been like being on permanent vacation for our family! There is always something to do, from walking to the point of Napatree, to mountain biking at bluff point, lounging on amazing beaches, and spoiled for choice with local restaurants. Two highly reputed restaurants are opening Spring 2014. And on cold nights we may even take the short 15 minute drive to Foxwoods for a bit of gaming.
