Loved this house!! Our group was coming from 3 different states for a little vacation reunion. Our stay at this house was perfect! The house was just what was shown on VRBO. The view is awesome and refreshing at all times of the day! Both the owner,Gary, and contact person, Rebecca, were very good to work with! The house and neighborhood are very nice, but at the same time felt very comfortable and "like home". We did a lot of our meals there and the kitchen had everything we needed. We would stay here again if we ever had the chance!!

Memorial Day Weekend

  • 5 of 5

My first visit to Seattle and am very pleased that I found this house to stay in. The location of the home just can't be beat - not that I'm an expert having been to Seattle just once. But the setting on Lake Washington is just beautiful, and when the skies are clear the view of the mountains over the lake is just great. Lake Washington is huge and is where some of Seattle's wealthiest citizens live, so the lakefront and surrounding hillsides are dotted with nice, unique homes. The back of the home faces west so sunsets on the porch are nice also. It is very quite and peaceful. The home is only a mile or so to a major highway (but the surrounding neighborhood is quiet), which provides very easy access to Seattle (w/o traffic which we didn't experience about 15 minutes to downtown) and all that it has to offer, as well as surrounding areas. So I think it offers the best of both worlds - lakefront views and serenity and the city close by. There is a lakefront park with a private neighborhood entrance close by that is well maintained and is a great place to take walks or runs.

Inside, the home has a very comfortable, homey feel and the living room and porch provide a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to make a few meals, which we did. There is a large screen tv with a good picture and it is in the living room so tv watching is with great views of the lake also. The master bedroom and bath are good sized and comfortable - the second bedroom is downstairs. Glenda and Dave live in a private section downstairs and are terrific hosts, they make you feel welcome and are only too happy to provide advice about the city and surrounding area. They make it easy when checking in and out.

I've stayed in several vacation homes in many different places, its really my preferred way to travel because in my opinion it is more comfortable, and it provides (to me anyway) a better, more relaxing atmosphere to stay than a hotel. And I enjoy cooking a few meals rather than eating out all the time. And you meet nice people. This home is another example of why I prefer to travel this way, and we've already shared with friends and family the terrific time we had.

A great family home with an amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

The Marrs Family enjoyed this beautiful home with the million dollar view of Lake Washington for Thanksgiving week 2014. The amazing kitchen was used everyday and the table with seating for 10 made it perfect. Our ten year old grandson was worried there would not be enough table seating for our Thanksgiving dinner. On his arrival he said "Can we book this for next year too!" The living area being opened to the kitchen gave us great family times. The fire place was used often. The recliners were an asset. One TV meant we had to challenge for times. So one night the girls got it for chick flicks the guys the next day for football. All ages enjoyed the pool table. The laundry area was a blessing. Gary meet us at the home and gave us the grand tour. He was so nice and we enjoyed his friendliness. We had sunshine, rain, snow, ice and a cloudy day. Just what the part of the family from the CA desert had ordered. The house was as the listing description had presented it. Yes, we would rent again. Thank you, we had a blast!

Relaxation Time and Food Tour

  • 5 of 5

This house was exactly as described, you can not beat the location. Serenity, & Relaxation was what we were looking for and a place for the family to connect and unwind. Perfect on both accounts. Everything in the house made it easy to just sit back. We loved watching the fishing boats go across the lake in the morning and my husband saw a Bald Eagle fly over the house. Spent the day out exploring Seattle and came back at night to a make a home cooked meal. We were not lacking of anything. I highly recommend this location if you want to explore the City but settle down at night for a House on the Lake.

Owner's Response: So pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to your lovely family returning again someday. We have a saying on the Lake “every hour spent looking at the Lake is an hour added on to your life”. All the best to you and your family. Gary and Helen

What an amazing place to vacay!

  • 5 of 5

Two couples met "in the middle" (One from Hawaii, the other from New Mexico) to see San Fran and take the overnight Amtrak train to Seattle. While we loved SF and the train trip, the house on the lake was certainly our fav part of the vacation. It was perfect for getting into the city and seeing the sites as well as some down time to enjoy each others company. The accommodations were so clean and homey which is important and the setting was amazing! The views constantly wowed us. We also really appreciated our host, Rebecca, taking such good care of us. We are taking away such sweet memories from this trip!!

Absolutely breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

This is my first experience with a VRBO property and I was in charge of making arrangements for my 82 year old mother (in a wheelchair) my 81 year old aunt, my sister in law and myself. I found this house browsing the VRBO site and fell in love with the picture of the living room with the fantastic view. I e-mailed Gary (the owner) and asked about the handicap aspect and he was quite honest that while it isn't necessarily handicapped accessible, there are really only a couple of steps into the house (which she is totally capable of) and then we were all on one level. There is one bedroom on the lower level but that didn't concern the handicap accessibility as there are two bedrooms on the main floor! The living room and bedrooms are just as pictured but what they can't show you is the breathtaking views of the sunsets over Lake Washington and the city lights in the distance after dark!!!!!

The house itself is wonderful, everything you could possible need is available and the caretaker Rebecca is such a nice person and easy to contact if you have questions. We had the pleasure of meeting Gary and his wife Helen while we were there and wish we could have had a little more time to chat with them--they seem to be quite interesting people. The kitchen has stainless appliances, icemaker, coffee maker, dishwasher, JennAire smooth top range, and the biggest island I have ever seen!! (we also found a corkscrew which was necessary for enjoying our glass of wine out on the deck overlooking the gorgeous view!) The house was spotless, the beds comfortable, and having two full bathrooms was great. The master bathroom has double sinks which went well with the king sized bed as there were two of us in that room!! All in all, I would come back here in a heartbeat if I could!! Given the physical limitations of our group, we did not utilize the walking trail but that would be in store for next time for me!!

Access to downtown attractions was easy and took only about 15-20 minutes at the most to get there--it took about the same amount of time to get to the house from the airport although we did make it back to the airport in record time because we had a very early flight.
