This Gold Crown/Five-Star Resort is renown for its luxurious accommodations. Wyndham Grand Desert provides unprecedented amenities. For your pleasure, there are two beautiful pools as well as a Nautilus fitness center. If you are looking for a plain, standard-type facility, this is not for you. This resort is just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and near the city rail system. After visiting the casinos, relax back in your high roller-style suite.
So much to do from a gondola ride in Venice to a roller coaster ride in New York or even visit the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Las Vegas Strip offers it all. After the casino visits, take a day trip to the Hoover Dam or see the Grand Canyon by helicopter or walk in Death Valley. As with all my Gold Crown resorts, this resort, if desired, offers planned activities for the children as well as for the adults.
Just pick up the phone and let the concierge desk handle all your dinner and entertainment arrangements.
This unit is priced for any budget.
Owner may substitute similar suite or upgrade upon availability.
My wife and family love to vacation in Las Vegas. This location offers so much to everyone in the family. This location is like a home away from home but with a five star quality.
Jay H. Brown purchased this condo in 2003
Las Vegas is a location for all to enjoy. I or my guests always enjoy the variety and nearby sites that can be seen within a resonable distance from the Grand Desert. This location is also very convenient to the CONVENTION CENTER for my business clients.
Staying at the Grand Desert gives access to a gold crown 5 star facility that is uncomparable to other locations. The amenities are beyond compare. The facility offers 24 hr security as well as a concierge service. The activity staff offers scheduled entertainment for children and young teens.
This was a great option for a group of seven of us in April 2014. To give you an idea of who we are in context of enjoying the hotel, the seven of us range in ages 28 to 42, with a mixture of males and females, couples and singles. Most of us enjoy a little debauchery (it is Vegas after all), so we aren't asleep by midnight, but can't make it until 4 am every night.
We stayed in a two-bedroom, two-bath room and there was plenty of space. It looked as though the suite had recently been updated (décor, appliances, furniture). Check-in took a bit longer than expected (could check in at 3 pm, but didn't get into the room until 5:30 pm), but this was the only drawback of the stay and was a minor one at that.
My top raves for this hotel are:
- The price. For seven of us for four nights it was only around $750 total. That freed up so much more spending money for the booze, food and gambling.
- The staff was genuinely polite. Anytime you pass a member of the staff, they greet you. I was thinking since it is a timeshare, we would be hounded with sales pitches, but this didn't happen. Upon check-in I was informed of the timeshare info breakfast, but there was no pressure to partake. And I was approached once more while walking through hotel grounds, but again there wasn't anything unpleasant about it.
- If you rent a car, parking is free and there was plenty of it. We spent one day making the quick 45-minute drive to Red Rocks to Hike and also went to some more local restaurants outside the Strip area.
- The shuttle to Harrah's makes getting places convenient. The hotel is not on the Strip and is about a 10-15 walk to it. Depending on the time of year (we went in April) and if it isn't too hot yet, this walk is pretty manageable for most. Since you're always going to be far from somewhere on the Strip, being a few long blocks off of it wasn't a big deal for us.
- I personally like that there is not a casino or the loads of bars and restaurants that some of the massive Vegas hotels have. This way, you make sure to explore more places.
The owner, Jay, is great to work with when booking. He took the time to call me and chatted for about 20 minutes. He gave me all kinds of info on the property and recommendations of places to go. And he is prompt with responding to emails. Thanks Jay!
The Grand Desert never gives more than 100% satisfaction! Nothing on the property is less than perfect and the staff is the same. The security presence is noticed 24 hours a day, walking the property and in the garage no matter when. Thank God for smoke free! The casinos seem to be so much worse with air quality due to smoke, but the Grand Desert is a breath of clean air and that is a big plus for us non-smokers.
Another great stay at the Grand Desert! We can't say enough great things about this facility, it's well furnished, clean, quite, smoke free, one block from the strip, secure, convenient and extremely well maintained and staffed. Concierge is a knowledgeable source to help you plan shows or travel. The pools, and the provided entertainment are fun, comfortable and relaxing We have stayed at the strip hotels and we won't go to Vegas unless the Grand Desert has an opening. Why put up with cigarette odor, walking a mile from the garage to your room, and having to walk thru the casino to return to your room from the pool, in your bathing suit? The Grand Desert is our home away from home when in Vegas!
I'm not a stranger to the Grand Desert, but this return visit was my first stay in one of their 3-bedroom suites. Once again, this was a perfect choice for our needs, and everyone in our group was impressed by the spacious accomodations. The amenities can't be beat - a separate bath for each bedroom, a jacuzzi, a kitchen complete with accessories, a living room and dining area, and a washer and dryer. The facilities are beautiful inside and out - including the large pool area. As usual, the staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the regular van shuttle service to the nearby strip is free and very convenient. This is just a wonderful place to be based for a visit to Las Vegas, and it's always a pleasure to work with Jay in arranging it.
We were in town for an expo at the Convention Center, and the Grand Desert is our preferred place to stay, whether in Las Vegas for business or for fun. We like the extra amenities it offers compared to the hotels on The Strip. Parking is free and very accessible, and it's much easier to get to your room here than at many of the sprawling Strip hotels. The Wyndham Grand Desert is a comfortable and peaceful oasis from the hustle and bustle of The Strip, but also very convenient to it. For quality and value, we think it's the best option available for lodging in Las Vegas.
Jay was great to work with and helped me decide which type of condo would work best for my family. He returned calls and emails very quickly.
Once we arrived, we found the place to be beautifully maintained with a very helpful staff. They tried to give us "the tour" but one refusal and they didn't push. The condo was very well furnished with substantial furniture and a well equipped kitchen (even a blender for my smoothies). My son complained that the pullout mattress was not great since he could feel a bar across his back the whole night. That is probably the only minor complaint we had. The location was really good and the van service was reliable. We never waited more than 15 minutes for the van. If you don't have a car, the property also provides a grocery store "run" 2 or 3 times a week. It was too chilly for pool-use but the pools and Jacuzzis looked great.
Overall, it was a great place. We'd return in a heartbeat and we'd recommend it (and already have to some friends).
