Great Weekend at the Sugar Shack

We did a 4 day weekend at the Sugar Shack, and were not disappointed. First, we LOVED and appreciated one of the only owners willing to be flexible and not require Sat-Sat stay - THANK YOU! We had 3 adults and 5 kids aged 11-17, and all of us were comfortable in the many rooms. I don't even think we found all the patios, there were so many! Plenty of room for everyone, especially with the porches. Finishes in kitchen and throughout were top notch, beds were comfortable, and everything was in good working order. Location was fabulous, right off 30A, just west of Seaside (which is too busy for my taste, but super close and fun to walk around) and thankfully west of the strange brown effluent on the east side (at Seaside, beware!). Beach was awesome, totally quiet, and nothing but dunes to the east all the way to Water Sound. Totally gorgeous. Easy walk to beach, no roads to cross, and super quiet neighborhood. I would go again in a heartbeat - you are in the best location, close to everything, but quiet and peaceful. Only things to note: the bunks are a little crowded since the ceilings on that floor are quite low. I wouldn't plan to put anyone over maybe 7 on the top bunk. Mine opted for the sofa. If you have stayed at other VRBO places (like we have) this one is more stripped on supplies than any other we've rented. You'll get pots, pans, dishes and linens, but no beach towels, chairs, coolers or other goodies. No coffee or filters (get the flat bottom ones at Publix up the road) or even salt and pepper. Not a big deal, just good to know ahead of time if you've VRBO'd before. We rented chairs and umbrellas for the weekend from a guy on the beach and it was easy. He had them set up for us everyday. There was a concierge line through the rental agency that would handle those things for you as well, but we didn't use it. The washer dryer and grill worked great and we used both. Endless hot water system is close to master, so if you're a light sleeper, be aware. It cycles constantly and is clearly audible in the master bedroom. Overall a great house in a great location. I'd go back here for sure. LOVED IT. THANKS!!
