Welcome to Maui Kai 106, our spectacular, remodeled, oceanfront, studio condo at Maui Kai, on North Kaanapali beach. We are proud to share with you our VRBO listing. We are even more proud to share with you our Maui home, where the bathroom is the only room without a view of the pacific ocean, and for that indiscretion we truly apologize, but we did not want to discourage the whales from returning to the waters off our lanai, during the winter months.
Let your vacation begin as you drive down our beautiful tree lined driveway, away from the crowded condos lining lower Honoapiiliani road. As you drive, open your window and smell the plumerias blooming on the side of the road. As you park, notice the peace and serenity that embodies Maui Kai. As you check in, peek at the beautiful sandy beach just steps from the building and imagine a day of sea and snorkeling. As you open the inner door of our studio condo, take in the breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean before you, and consider that time may just stand still in the presence of such beauty.
And then time does stand still, as you think, darn!! why didn't we stop at The Times market on the way in for a bottle of our favorite bubbly, a view like this needs to be celebrated. So to recap, let your vacation begin when you stop at The Times Market.
There is nothing not to like about unit 106, we have everything to make your stay comfortable and affordable. Our condo has been tastefully furnished in a classy island style. We have plenty of storage so you can put away your things and hide the suitcases, to make you truly feel at home, and forget that one day you will have to leave. We also have a safe, for your peace of mind. The king size bed is close to the lanai doors, so you can hear the waves crashing on the shore, as you fall asleep. Our cozy sitting area inside the unit is great for relaxing, reading or watching a movie from the Maui Kai library; all the while you stay cool in our air conditioned unit. The kitchen is fully equipped with every utensil you could ever need. For the chefs among us there is an oven, for the people who like to make something snappy, a microwave, and for those of us who are domestically challenged, a phone for take out. And for none of the above, there are plenty of restaurants to keep your taste buds challenged.
You will all agree that our studio has the best view for dining in all of Maui. You will have to wait for hours to get a table with the kind of view we can offer from our lanai, morning, noon and night. The light show as the sun sets, is second only to the northern lights. Watch as the sky turns from blue, to orange and fiery red, every night a different, but spectacular show unfolds; just for you. Don't forget your iPod, so you can play your favorite music as the sun dances between the islands of Molokai and Lanai, and then slips below the ocean. After the sun sets, take a moonlight stroll along Kaanapali Beach, and as your toes sink into the golden sand, think how much joy the simplest things can bring, and promise yourself you will return.
It is only fair at this time to spare a thought for those less fortunate and less informed who booked the large resort down the beach to find they have a partial view from the side of the building, or a garden view. We like to call these people the 'if only' people. In closing, I urge you not to become 'if only people' as my husband and I did one year. As we walked past all the condos in Maui Kai, enjoying the beach and the amazing view we said 'if only we had booked Maui Kai'. We guarantee you won't be disappointed.
So to recap, book Maui Kai 106 and let your vacation begin.
My name is Mike and my wife's name is Alison. Alison and I live in Southern California. I am an avid surfer and Alison likes to do triathlons, she participates in a number that have ocean swims, so suffice it to say we both love the ocean. Alison and I love to travel to different places. We have visited many beautiful cities in Europe, but we always come back to Maui to relax. We love the simplicity and beauty of Hawaii, the ocean and the stunning sunsets, the peace, and harmony that accompanies every day. We've always wanted to own a place in paradise, and now we do. Maui is the perfect place to relax and play.
We hope you enjoy our condo as much as we do. We think Maui Kai is a fabulous, convenient location to explore the beautiful island of Maui. Please come and discover our dream.
Mike purchased this condo in 2009
Reviews, location, views, peace and simplicity are the reasons we chose Maui Kai 106.
Maui Kai rated as #1 out of 41 other specialty lodging resorts, in west Maui. Maui Revealed rates Maui Kai as 'SOLID GOLD VALUE.'
I think what initially attracted us to Maui Kai was it's proximity to the beach and the ocean; our sturdy concrete building is situated parallel to the beach, giving us a 180 degree view of the ocean from the Lanai. When we started looking for a home on Maui we knew we didn't come to Maui to look at a Koi pond, or a garden; we knew we wanted to have a 'full Monty' of ocean and we found that and more at Maui Kai.
We find Maui Kai to be a very quiet and relaxing place, discreetly situated away from the main road, so traffic noise is never an issue; allowing us to savor the sound of the waves.
We enjoy the fact we are not a 'look at me' big resort, no swim up bar, no room around the pool to run and scream, so we do not attract the party crowds.
Watching the whales breech and the whale spouts from the lanai is our favorite past time in whale season. Watching for the cheeky little 'ET' heads of the sea turtles coming into feed in the morning is the best reason to get out of bed. We love drinking our morning coffee on the lanai waiting for the sun to come up, enjoying the almost ethereal beauty of the ocean and the beach bathed in the early morning light. Having dinner on the lanai watching our very own aurora borealis is second to none.
Without question we love having Kaanapali beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Maui, on our doorstep. Here we can enjoy easy beach access, easy ocean access, and an easy stroll, power walk, or run, from our condo down the beach to black rock and the delightful Whaler's village.
The reasons we chose Maui Kai 106 are the same reasons you will have an unforgettable vacation on Maui. Come and discover for yourself Maui's best kept little secret.
Watching the sunsets will become your favorite pastime. Relaxing on the sofa with a book on the lanai will become your favorite 'guilt free' pleasure. The sound of the waves will become your favorite music. Long walks on a beautiful sandy beach will become your favorite activity. Snorkeling and swimming will become your favorite aerobic sport. Doing nothing at all but enjoying the beauty of Maui, and renewing the relationships with those you share 'the moment with', will become your favorite 'priceless' memory. Come and discover the experience of Maui at Maui Kai 106.
Very beautiful condo rental. Although we did not cook, the kitchen was a dream and we loved the tiled shower. The lanai has very comfy chairs and loved the fact that it had a couch if you felt the need to lie down and read. It was a little unexpected to be right on the main level so you constantly saw people walking past but it wasn't bad. Just not very private; you had to make sure you changed in the bathroom and out of sight which was difficult if your suitcase was near the bed. Although my husband said his side was fine, I did find the bed to be a tad lumpy and hard. The owner suggested we contact the front desk to have a mattress pad put on it if we found it too hard. I would suggest this to other visitors if you like a softer bed. The area was amazing. So close to a huge beach, fantastic restaurants, a grocery store, the boardwalk and a park. The pool area was also very nice but was no where near the ocean. This was unexpected as well. Still a great place to lay and read and catch some rays, though. I loved the 'guest book' the condo owner had available for the guests to fill out. A very special touch and I loved reading about past guests' vacations. Duke's Beach House is a must visit for breakfast or dinner and we had a blast at Java Jazz for breakfast. So much to look at, wonderful food and spectacular service!
what do you want when you go to Hawaii or more specifically Maui. we wanted peace and quiet, and we found it here. we felt this would be right based on the existing reviews, and it is all right on. parking: easy, no gates, no guard shack, no gate cards, plenty of parking, no half mile walk, almost able to park near your room. the room: plenty big for two people, clean efficient bathroom and kitchen, perfect location of the room related inside the building, and an absolutely perfect patio---one can actually toss a rock into the ocean from the patio---the ocean is that close. the waves roll up and hit the sea wall making a perfect sleeping sound. the bed is comfortable and solid.
we spent most of our sunset evenings on the patio watching the sunset or the whales. half the time you really do not need binoculars to see the whales. you can even hear them.
the pool area was perfect for us: small, close, convenient. The jacuzzi was perfect for after ocean experiences. the entire facility never seemed crowded. i never came across a person with an attitude. everyone was nice: the staff, the cleaning ladies, and the gardner. i think the gardner has been there before i was born, and i am 55. he worked tirelessly in the garden. i never saw trash or an unkept area. he always greeted us with a smile and a hello.
we did visit some other resorts to just have some dinner and such, and to us they are a complete turn off: large crowds, crowded pools, noisy, small kids running everywhere screaming---no thanks. we found none of that here.
the other special thing about this place is you can walk to most of the restaurants all lined down the beach. even the evening cliff dive at Black Rock is not that far. you can swim and snorkel right out front. we took two separate tours with Maui Paddle Sports right near the Westin. what a great experience. we liked it so much we added that second tour.
Captain Steve's Whale tour and snorkel trips were really fantastic. they had a great crew, great owner, and staff on the phones. the trip to Lanai was fantastic as were the whale watches. we found these boats were much more comfortable than the other companies running zodiac/raft type boats.
all and all---it is a fantastic place to stay. we stayed nine nights. we turned on the Tv maybe three times. we were inspired by the ocean, the whales, and the simplicity of this place.
we are returning---here--this unit--for sure.
thanks for a great stay
My husband and I agree that this condo is in an ideal location and is just about perfect in every way! We were a little concerned about being on the 1st floor but it was not an issue at all. We felt like we were pretty much sitting in the ocean when relaxing on the lanai. We did more take out and cooking in than we ever have on vacation before because the view from the condo was so mesmerizing, and we didn't want to miss a whale breach! The orientation of the condo is excellent - just enough sun to be comfortable but not hot, and enough out of the wind to not be cold. The last condo we stayed in faced north and we vowed to never do that again - no sun + wind meant we didn't spend much time on the lanai. The furnishings were very comfortable, the bathroom plenty roomy for the 2 of us, and lots of room to unpack and stash our luggage. It was also very quiet, I think I heard noise from a neighboring unit once.
If I had one complaint it would be the beach towels, they were pretty much threadbare. But that is a housekeeping issue, not the owner's fault. Next time we'll just bring some from home. Thank you Michael and Alison for letting us enjoy your unit! We'll be back!
This is our second visit to Maui and we will never stay anywhere else! The view from this condo is a vacation dream come true! The location is perfect, everything you could want is within close proximity and you couldn't ask for anything more when it comes to the accommodations. The snorkeling at Airport Beach was spectacular. We also took a catamaran out to Honolua Bay to snorkel. The last time in Maui we visited all the sites, so this time we just enjoyed the beauty that surrounded us at Maui Kai and the surrounding area. We enjoyed it so much that we reserved the condo again to come back to see the humpback whales. It is so peaceful here, yet, all the activities and sights are close by!! The best of both worlds!! You couldn't ask for anything more! Thank you Mike and Allison for allowing us to share in a little piece of your heaven!!
Maui Kai was the perfect location for our honeymoon! We loved the unit. Bed is super comfy. Kitchen is fully stocked! We made so many meals which cut down on the cost of eating out in Maui. When we did decide to eat out, the options were plentiful. The bathroom is perfect with a nice walk in shower. We used the snorkeling gear almost every day. The cooler also came in handy to bring drinks with us. My wife and I loved this unit so much we will definitely be back soon! Thank you Mike and Allison. This VRBO condo is a true gem, you will be blown away by the beautiful sunsets on their lanai. AMAZING!!
We spent 9 nights at this condo for our honeymoon. The description, location and overview are spot on. The condo itself is updated with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and a very nice glass shower. All the pots, pan, plates, cups and anything else you may need is in the condo. The snorkel gear, boogie boards and beach towels were a nice bonus as well. 2 BBQ's, the pool and hot tub were very private and nice. As first timers to Hawaii, Mike and Alison made our visit so much easier with a great condo that needed absolutely nothing. I would recommend this to anybody going to west Maui that wants a very high quality studio at a very good price.
Two world class golf courses are within a ten minute drive, A bicycle ride down Haleakala Volcano is fun, Zodiak boats from Lahaina Harbour to see the whales up close, The road to Hana is always an adventure. 5 min walk to the Times Market, Walk down the boardwalk or the beach to Duke's, Black Rock, or Whaler's village.
