Located in the East Animas River Valley only 1.8 miles from Durango, this property is on a quiet county road where you can walk, jog or bike for miles! The views are incredible in every direction.
This is a small cabin but it is very well appointed with everything that you need. There is a king size bed in the private bedroom and a sofa sleeper and small loft in the living area. Outside of the living area is a cute enclosed porch, perfect for enjoying the cool summer evenings. Satellite TV is connected to 2 LCD TV screens.
Watch the rock climbers in the distance on the dramatic rock outcroppings or hike up there yourself on your own private hiking trail! The views are incredible in this beautiful river valley and the property is loaded with beautiful pine trees!
Enjoy the convenience of being close to Durango restaurants and activities, while still in a quiet, cozy setting. Experience the beauty and magic of Mesa Verde, skiing at Durango Mountain Ski Resort or taking the historic train ride on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad! Enjoy Durango!
Xmas 2010- We had a wonderful and idyllic Xmas break. Durango is a fantastic place and the area has lots of outdoor opportunities. We skied Purgatory twice (one day in 2 feet of powder!!!) snowshoed at Valllecito Reservoir, hiked part of the Colorado Trail and also the trail behind the house, made it to the top of Animas mountain, enjoyed Mesa Verde in the snow (spectacular!) and drove across Molas Pass to Silverton and Ouray. We're are looking forward to being back!
Perfect cozy cabin for very small groups, couples or individuals. The cabin is just several minutes from downtown Durango, but secluded enough and very peaceful. My trip coincided with a full week of snowfall, and Lana was very helpful when it came to making sure the driveway was cleared and that I also had access to shovels. Certainly hope to be back soon!
We came to CO to initiate a new motorcycle and to enjoy some much overdue relaxation. We were excited by the pictures, but they didn't even do the property justice. The bed was very comfortable, the outdoor patio a terrific resting spot while we prepared dinner, and the screen porch was the ultimate.
Everything we might have needed was already there, and I was still discovering little touches after 4 days. The 'Welcome Guide' was very comprehensive--any visitor question was addressed.
As we were tired after each day, being away from the tourist hassle was the perfect setting for us. Town and attractions were close and easy to find, but we weren't forced to be among the summer crowds unless we chose.
The views were amazing, and we even got to enjoy the rock climbers while sitting on the patio. Lana was the perfect hostess, and we even extended our stay. It was the perfect retreat.
We stayed at the cabin for our honeymoon. It was beautiful, clean, and private, and the views were gorgeous. We had access to almost everything we needed in the kitchen, except that basic things like measuring spoons and cups would have been helpful.
Our primary complaint is that the bed is actually two twin mattresses placed next to each other, and we constantly slipped into the crevice between them (not so romantic...). For the cost of renting this place, an actual queen- or king-sized mattress would be very much appreciated.
The cabin was immaculately clean and stocked with everything you might need on your vacation. The wood interior was warm and cozy. It was just as described although quite small, perfect for a couple's romantic getaway. Although so close to downtown Durango, it felt far away in the country, very peaceful and private. We would definitely come again and recommend this lovely little cabin to friends and family.
My wife and I took our second trip to Durango in the last two years and decided to stay in a property other than the city hotels. We selected this cabin due to its proximity to town and privacy. We were not disappointed and very pleased with the choice we made. The cabin was cozy and met all of our needs for the long weekend. The screened-in porch was our favorite spot and provided an early evening happy hour haven for us. The cabin's location provided easy access to Durango's shopping, restaurants and outdoor activities. We will highly consider staying at the property again on our next visit to Durango. The reservation transaction would have been easier and felt more secure with the use of credit cards. All in all, a wonderful vacation.
We enjoyed our stay at this cozy little cabin very much! It was the perfect distance from downtown. The cabin felt secluded, but was a mere 5 mins. from a very charming downtown Durango. We did the whole train thing, and would say that it is an experience that can't be missed! It was worth the price to choose the Alamosa car for the ride. It's a long day and the extra comfort and services was worth it. We drove much of the San Juan By-Way and stopped at many of the small towns along the way. We especially enjoyed the quaint town of Ouray. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking! Would defiantly come back to Durango and stay at Lana's cozy cabin!
Private with incredible views!
