This fabulous 1950's classic Mid Century Tybee cottage was completely renovated and restored using all 'greenovation' . The project was finished in 2009 and the guiding principles were 'reduce, reuse and recycle concept while updating the cottage. The home was originally constructed as an all electric 'Gold Medallion' home in the 1950's and owned by the same family for 34 years prior to the new owners.
The cottage has many classic 1950's features but one of the interesting features is the Mamie Eisenhower pink tile in the hall bath. This was a favorite of the ladies in the 1950's and the reason there are so many pink bathrooms and kitchens in homes constructed during that time. The new bath has a large shower with glass tile blocks and a skylight.
Our cottage is a true peaceful retreat. She faces the east and the sun rises to greet visitors while they have their coffee on the front screened porch. Fruit and nut trees surround the home, a wonderful gift from the previous owner who loved to garden and planted all of the now productive trees. The back screened porch is very spacious and has its own mini frig and a charcoal grill just outside the door for grilling the 'catch of the day'. There is also an outside solar shower for guests.
A short 5 minute stroll is the main beach, downtown Tybee, the back river fishing pier and several restaurants. Many people park their vehicles and either walk or bicycle while on the island.
Tybee Island has been recently voted in 2009 by Health Magazine 'the healthiest beach in the US' and featured in Southern Living, Coastal Living and Savannah magazines, Tybee Island is still somewhat of an undiscovered paradise that visitors crave to return and many visit to never leave.

The Tybee Sea Turtle Project has been working very hard to increase the number of loggerhead sea turtle nests. 2012 was a record-breaking year in large part because of our successful 'Lights Out For Sea Turtles' education we've helped sponsor. All our homes feature a starter supply of Mermaid Morning Bliss coffee which supports the sea turtle projects. This coffee is 100% organic Columbian craft-brewed coffee; again, created just for us!
