Enjoy wine country living in our vineyard and experience the wine country lifestyle at it's source! World class vineyards and wineries, Bernardus, Julien, Heller Estate, Galante Family Winery and Georis, surround our Carmel Valley Vineyard. We are a licensed winery and produce Rombi, Carmel Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot both estate grown. Our first release was the 2006 vintage which is sold privately and thru selected fine restaurants. The 2006 vintage produced less than 100 cases. The 2008 release is almost gone. The 2009's will be released in August 2013. Savor wine grown and produced on site and barrel taste future vintages!

The property is spectacular and the second level cottage sits atop the winery with views of our Carmel Valley Vineyard. The private deck offers stunning views of Julian Vineyards, Heller Estate and the Ventana Wilderness on the horizon.

The charming wood cottage is 800 square feet and features a private deck off the bedroom and living room, quality bed linens, a full kitchen with everything a gourmet chef will need, satellite TV, full movie and book library, high speed internet and your own washer and dryer. The decor highlights artwork by local artists. The living room features cozy comfortable furniture to relax in and enjoy the ambience. You will also have the use of the beautiful swimming pool (heated May through September), which over looks the views of the local vineyards.

There is a cat Peanut on the property. He loves people but does not see many of them and he will leave you alone. He is an outdoor cat. We also have two vineyard puppies Bella and Ali.

The estate sits on its own ridge with fabulous views. The down side is it has very steep side hills and is not child friendly. We are sorry but this is an adult only property.

The cottage is peaceful, cozy and lets you experience living in the country on a working vineyard. It is close to great restaurants, shopping, golf and wine tasting. We are 45 minutes from the Monterey Peninsula Airport and we are 25 minutes to the Carmel Valley Village.

Please ask us about our winemaker welcome dinner at the Hacienda with Rombi Wines. You will need to book ahead for this. All guests receive complimentary wine tasting at Rombi Wines new tasting room in the Carmel Valley Village. Located at one Center Street just off Carmel Valley Road.

About Kathy Baker

Salvatore Rombi viticulturist, winemaker and Kathy Baker (official taster) were both born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula and Carmel Valley. We know the area intimately and enjoy sharing it and love all it has to offer. We began the process of developing the vineyard in 1994. The Winery was completed in 2007 and the first commercial release of the Rombi Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will be the 2006 vintage. The process has been challenging, exciting and rewarding. It is wonderful to see it come to life. Sal owns Carmel Valley Realty Company and has been in the real estate business since 1972. Kathy is an executive with a radio broadcast group in California. We have rented houses for years in Italy and France and understand the amenities and accruements we enjoy and will respect guest's privacy. The cottage is yours during your stay.

Fantastic Anniversary Getaway

We had the most fantastic visit at Sal and Kathy's beautiful vacation rental. When we arrived, Sal showed us the apartment and the winemaking facilities beneath it (he even let us taste some of the wine in the barrels!). The apartment itself is absolutely charming -- beautiful, well stocked (including coffee!) and highly functional. We used the grill both nights to make steaks, which we supplemented with Sal's fantastic wine. Much of the rest of the time we spent staring out at the view and wandering around the vineyard. When we visited town, we went to Sal's tasting room, and he told us all the best places to go for lunch and additional tasting. By the end of our two-night stay, we felt like part of the family (but still like we'd had our own romantic retreat). The only thing that could have made our visit better would be some curtains on the east side of the building (as other reviewers have noted). Otherwise, it was a perfect getaway.

A sweet cottage, nicely designed, with amazing views from the most relaxing balcony. The fully furnished kitchen and the quiet around made us want to stay there for the whole weekend, without even traveling around. Great swimming pool with stunning views and privacy.
There are no curtains on the windows what allows us to enjoy more the views around, but woke us up at 6am. As soon as the kind and welcoming owners add curtains on the east-side windows - this place will become heaven on earth....
Highly recommended!!!

Marvelous Weekend Getaway

This was by far one of the best weekend getaways I have ever experienced. The views of the valley are stunning and the accommodations are wonderful. The bed was luxurious with high thread count linen and bath towels. The pictures of the property, nice as they are, don't do it justice. The private pool is heated to comfortable 85 degrees and is by far one of the best attributes of the property. This is truly a special place. The hosts are wonderful people, very welcoming, generous and easy going, and they gave us plenty of space. If you are lucky you might even get a private barrel tasting like the one the hosts provided for us. If you are looking for a private getaway in Carmel Valley this is the spot. The value is excellent.

Amazing, Unique, Relaxing, Breathtaking

This well-appointed vacation rental is literally in the middle of an organic, sustainable boutique vineyard with 360 degree views of some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. Imagine enjoying utter quietness, billions of stars at night, wildlife, and the enchanting aroma of upper Carmel Valley flora while living in a wonderfully comfortable apartment run by two warm and accommodating people, Sal and Kathy. Sal's wine is amazing and captures the beauty and depth of the surrounding land. If you've never had a barrel tasting before (the barrels are right below you), it is a treat not to be missed. Stroll over to the warmly heated pool for a swim with views for miles around. The bed is so comfortable, the kitchen fun to cook in, and the house is well-stocked. The beautiy of this place far surpasses the photos on the site. This is a remote location and not necessarily for everyone, but the beauty and tranquility of this property is unparalleled. We did not want to leave.

Carmel Valley Vinyard Cottage

We had the pleasure of staying at the cottage over the Christmas / New Years Eve 2011. The location is beautiful, very clean, and spacious; the kitchen was a bonus, since we could make breakfast before we would head out for the day. The cottage is just as you see it on the website.

The views are amazing!!! During the evenings, we would love to stare at the stars, what a sight for us since we live in the city. During the day, the views were equally breathtaking; we enjoyed the balcony just staring at the vineyards in the local valley.

I have already recommended the cottage to several co-workers. Hope to make a return visit sometime this year or next.

Sal and Kathy are great host's, they made us feel very comfortable and they are very welcoming. We made use of some of the recommendations for dinning they made. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience worth doing.
