Enjoy wine country living in our vineyard and experience the wine country lifestyle at it's source! World class vineyards and wineries, Bernardus, Julien, Heller Estate, Galante Family Winery and Georis, surround our Carmel Valley Vineyard. We are a licensed winery and produce Rombi, Carmel Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot both estate grown. Our first release was the 2006 vintage which is sold privately and thru selected fine restaurants. The 2006 vintage produced less than 100 cases. The 2008 release is almost gone. The 2009's will be released in August 2013. Savor wine grown and produced on site and barrel taste future vintages!
The property is spectacular and the second level cottage sits atop the winery with views of our Carmel Valley Vineyard. The private deck offers stunning views of Julian Vineyards, Heller Estate and the Ventana Wilderness on the horizon.
The charming wood cottage is 800 square feet and features a private deck off the bedroom and living room, quality bed linens, a full kitchen with everything a gourmet chef will need, satellite TV, full movie and book library, high speed internet and your own washer and dryer. The decor highlights artwork by local artists. The living room features cozy comfortable furniture to relax in and enjoy the ambience. You will also have the use of the beautiful swimming pool (heated May through September), which over looks the views of the local vineyards.
There is a cat Peanut on the property. He loves people but does not see many of them and he will leave you alone. He is an outdoor cat. We also have two vineyard puppies Bella and Ali.
The estate sits on its own ridge with fabulous views. The down side is it has very steep side hills and is not child friendly. We are sorry but this is an adult only property.
The cottage is peaceful, cozy and lets you experience living in the country on a working vineyard. It is close to great restaurants, shopping, golf and wine tasting. We are 45 minutes from the Monterey Peninsula Airport and we are 25 minutes to the Carmel Valley Village.
All guests receive complimentary wine tasting at Rombi Wines new tasting room in the Carmel Valley Village. Located at one Center Street just off Carmel Valley Road.

Salvatore Rombi viticulturist, winemaker and Kathy Baker (official taster) were both born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula and Carmel Valley. We know the area intimately and enjoy sharing it and love all it has to offer. We began the process of developing the vineyard in 1994. The Winery was completed in 2007 and the first commercial release of the Rombi Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will be the 2006 vintage. The process has been challenging, exciting and rewarding. It is wonderful to see it come to life. Sal owns Carmel Valley Realty Company and has been in the real estate business since 1972. Kathy is an executive with a radio broadcast group in California. We have rented houses for years in Italy and France and understand the amenities and accruements we enjoy and will respect guest's privacy. The cottage is yours during your stay.
kathleen Baker purchased this house in 1985
Unique wine country living but close enough to everything the Monterey Peninsula has to offer.
Walk in the vineyard, hiking and taste world class wine! Quiet peaceful setting with all the modern conveniences you will need.
Overlooking the vineyard on a small parcel. 3 days should do it...vegetable garden and fruit trees. Pool lounging overlooking hillsides. Fireplace and deck make for lovely evenings. We took full advantage of the deep soaker tub. Bring your meat to grill and you won't need to leave.
My husband and I truly enjoyed the 2 nights we stayed at this property. Sal was an amazing host and the views from the house were incredible. We recommend hiking up the hill from the fork before the private drive. It leads you up the hill where you can look badk at the property. Amazing!
This property is a gem. The settings is peaceful with sweeping views. The stars at night were something to behold. The cabin is charming and everything is done to the highest standard.
We enjoyed the CD player. There did not appear to be a remote to watch the DVDs we brought so we watched the videos at the cabin (nice selection).
The location allows you to be in wilderness while still close to the Bay Area. What comes along with this is that you are somewhat remote from restaurants and shopping. It's about a 30 minute drive into Carmel Valley Village on a somewhat windy road, so we decided to stay all three nights at the cabin (I like to spend as little time in the car as possible.) We did hikes close by each day that Sal recommended to us and this worked out well. Sal and Kathy were both friendly and helpful.
The pool was relaxing. We enjoyed swimming and then sitting in the sun chairs.
We had great views of the vineyards and enjoyed learning from Sal about his winemaking. In a short time he has developed the highest quality wines through a focus on top quality and careful, personal attention.
This is a special place and a relaxing get-away-from-it-all. Highly recommended.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at this cottage and it exceeded our expectations by a long shot. The cottage is absolutely perfect for a couple with plenty of amenities for making your stay as comfortable as possible. The views, the vineyard and Sal (owner) were all fantastic. Sal shared so much information about the area, recommended places for us to go eat (which were fantastic), his wine making process, etc. He really made our stay very comfortable. Each morning, I walked the vineyard, we opened all the windows and doors and let the mountain air flow through the cottage and experience the nature of Carmel Valley. Carmel Valley Village is a great place to spend the day walking around to see and getting to know the local environment. This is where all the local residents meet and share their knowledge and their fruits of their labor.
We actually did not stay there long enough. If we really wanted to get the whole experience of Carmel Valley and the people, you need to stay 4-7 days and need to stay in this cottage.
Thank you Sal. We will be coming back.
After driving up the Pacific Coast Highway, we were hoping for a relaxing 2-day getaway in Carmel Valley .... and that's exactly what we got. Sitting on the deck and and gazing at the stunning scenery and enjoying the quiet solitude, we truly felt like we were away from it all. We brought our books and just planned to relax. We made dinner in one night and enjoyed it with a bottle of Sal's exquisite wine. The next day, we went into town and took in some of the wonderful wine tasting rooms. The cottage itself was very comfortable, with plush towels and wonderful soaps and shampoos provided. The cottage is pretty secluded, so if you want to be closer to town, this is probably not for you. But if you are looking for a relaxing stay away from it all, we would highly recommend staying at the Vineyard Cottage.
