Lovely accommodation and location

We had a very pleasant stay in Feb 2012. The condo was beautifully furnished, well appointed, and comfortable for our family of six (grandparents, parents, and two children). It was especially enjoyable to sit on the balcony and watch the sunrises and sunsets. Also the condo had a lot of nice small details such as extra outlets by the master bedroom nightstands. When we were met at the villa by the greeter, we were given information about grocery delivery and babysitting that was helpful. Other guests might want to see if they can get these details in advance if relevant. That said, if we had arranged for our groceries in advance we might have missed the thoroughly enjoyable experience of going to Costco and seeing more local Hawaiian products than we expected (lau lau, kalua pork, banana cream pies, Hawaiian sodas, local pineapple, and more).
The complex had two pools, but the second pool which was more appropriate for small children was not heated. There didn't seem to be a huge difference in temperature, but it was enough to have small children gravitate to the lap pool, which they could use if they stayed within the acceptable noise range (not a problem) and didn't use pool toys (ours were OK with this, but might be an issue for others).
We tried the new Disney property next door and found that we much preferred the Beach Villas at Ko Olina given the lower key nature. The Disney property was large and you couldn't be outside without ever present sounds from manmade waterfalls, piped music, and artificial bird chirps. To come "home" to the beach villas was great. If your kids are older than ours (5 and 3), they might prefer water structures at Disney, but the villa was a much better match for us.
In any case, we thoroughly recommend Ko Olina, the complex, and this unit and hope to return soon!
